Black Panther Review

Black Panther is a superhero film based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's character of the same name. Black Panther is the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Black Panther is written by Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole and directed by Ryan Coogler.

The story is T'Challa has returned to his home of Wakanda after the death of his father. While he's taking up the responsibility of being a king of an entire nation powerful enemies are rising. With the fate of Wakanda at risk T'Challa needs to call for help with close allies in order to save his kingdom.

  • Negatives

I've got nothing to say. So on to the next part of the review.

  • Mix

One thing I feel like the movie could have done better is the post-credit scene. It's not bad it's just pretty basic. It doesn't further the movie nor does it help set up either the next two Marvel Studios films those being Avengers: Infinity War or Ant-Man and The Wasp. Like I said it's not bad but it could have done something more.

  • Positives

Now before the film even really picked up we get this beautiful and unique opening sequence telling us the story of Wakanda. So many gorgeous visuals that just suck you in. I said it before but I'll say it again the opening telling us Wakanda's history is beautiful and unique.

Another thing I liked about the movie was the ongoing question is should Wakanda reveal itself to the world and get more involved? One side said it should but the other side thinks they shouldn't because that's way things have been. It was such an intriguing part of the movie.

Now like all of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies this film definitely gives you plenty of action. The best scenes for me was the chase for Klaue and the other one was the fights between T'Challa and Erik Killmonger.

Speaking of Erik Killmonger this guy is a beast. He's ruthless, brutal, and will kill anyone who gets in the way of he's goals. Which makes him the perfect advisory for Black Panther. Another aspect I liked about he's character is you understand where's he's coming from but you don't really agree with his actions.

What I also like about Black Panther is it's minimal sense of humor. There's not too much of it say like Thor: Ragnarok had. It's more in line with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Where yes there are jokes but just the right amount where it doesn't ruin a dramatic moment or it overshadows other moments and that's all people talk about.

Black Panther is definitely going to be on your top five or top ten list of your favorite MCU films. The opening sequence is amazing, the debate around Wakanda is interesting, the action scenes are cool, Killmonger is one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the humor is nicely balanced. The post-credit scene on the other hand is meh.
