Hey everyone and welcome back to one of my new favorite segments Is It True? The part of my blog where I tell you about a conspiracy theory related to a film, TV show, video game etc. And this time I going after an oldie but a goodie. So let's get into the theory.
Who is Jessie and Who is Andy's Mom
Jessie and Ms. Davis (Andy's Mom) are two characters from the film series Toy Story. Ms. Davis is a minor character in the whole franchise and is the mother of her son Andy and her daughter Molly. Jessie (or Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl) is a tritagonist for the films of Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. Her backstory is she was once loved by a girl named Emily. But as Emily grew up she started playing with Jessie less and less. So then when she's a young adult she donates Jessie and just leaves her.
The Theory
On the left Emily. On the right Andy's Mom. |
The theory states that Emily and Andy's mom are the same character. In the films there is some evidence that might support this theory. For one Andy's mom was born in the 1950's and around that time Woody did have a show called "Woody's Roundup" so she mostly like was a little girl when the show was still on the air. Another piece that supports this theory is the hats. Here we have Emily's hat
This was the best picture I could get. Sorry |
Now let's look at Andy's hat
As you can see Andy's hat does look like a worn out hat from a previous owner. Fans noticed that there appeared to be a ribbon that was once there. So it could be possible that Andy's mom gave Andy her old Jessie hat and just took the white ribbon off so it would bare more of a resemblance to Woody's hat.
Is The Theory Believable?
Now for the longest time I actually believed the theory. I mean it all makes sense and everything seemed to match up, until you really go into details. For instance Emily is simply named Emily but if you read the book "The Art to Toy Story" the book gave Andy's mom a named. That name being Jennifer Davis. Then you also got to remember if Andy's mom ever was Emily wouldn't Jessie have recognized her?
Alright that's going to do it for me. And if you enjoyed yet another Is It True? I'll have another one come September. Until then enjoy all my other post whether old or new.
