Secret Society of Second-Born Royals Review

undefined

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is a science fantasy superhero movie. The film is produced by Disney Channel and distributed by Disney Media Distribution and Disney+. Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is written by Alex Litvax and Andrew Green and directed by Anna Mastro.

The story is Sam is the second child of a royal family, one day she not only learns she has superpowers but she's not the only one. Soon she's brought into a world where everyone like her is part of a secret society of superheroes. While that is happening a great evil has awakened wants the world to bend to him. Now the team must come together and put a stop this man.

Initial Reaction

Truth to be told this wasn't really a film I was looking forward to. I just decided to review it because I wanted to give another crack at another Disney+ movie since people did seem to like my previous Disney+ reviews.

Cons

One of two of my complaints with the movie is the obvious twist, basically one of the team members betrays the team and when you hear the voice and the one food item they like it because easy to figure who's working with the main bad guy. My other problem is when you watch the movie you can't help but get a TV movie vibe from it. I don't know if that's the movie's fault or mine either way it's hard to shake off that feeling.

Middle Ground

Now my only mix bag is the special effects. There decent at best and obvious at worst, and that's really the best way to describe them.

Pros

The biggest upside to Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is it knew exactly what it was. It knew it wasn't going to be this big magnum opus or peak cinema. The writers knew they where making a fun kids movie so they treated it as such. The other compliment to give the film is the acting. Sure it's nothing award winning but it's fine and for a movie like this that's okay.

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is a serviceable flick. It knows what it is and the performances were fine. Special effects were decent for the most part, and the only things not to like are the obvious twist and not being able to shake off that TV movie vibe.

My final rating is Okay

All done here. Due come back on Monday, Sept 28th for A Look Back at Review of Sudden Death. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.
