Frosty the Snowman Review

Frosty the Snowman is a 1969 Christmas television special. The TV special was produced by Rankin/Bass Productions and Mushi Productions and distributed by Universal Television. Frosty the Snowman was written by Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass and directed by Romeo Muller.

The story is a magician's hat has been blown away and lands on a snowman built by a group of kids. The hat magically brings the snowman to life and he goes by the name Frosty. The kids are having fun with Frosty but a greedy magician and warm weather threating Frosty's life. Now the kids must get him to the North Pole before it's too late.

One good thing about this special is the music. It's very whimsical and come on, who doesn't have that Frosty the Snowman song stuck in their head? Because I do.

What also makes this such a classic is the animation. Yes it's very simple but with something like this did we really need animation that was full blown cinematic. The simple animation works because not only is it effective but this a simple story.

Another thing that people have come to love about Frosty the Snowman is the voice acting. Not only is good but it was also limited. But despite that both the cast and the crew made it seem like there are more characters in this even though the numbers were limited.

The last thing I'll give credit where credit is do is with the story. It's very simple but someone once pointed it out and then I rewatched it, and the thing they point out was how there seems to be a theme of self sacrifice. Which I honestly see. Because Frosty wants to get Karen (once of the children he befriends) to someplace warm despite those conditions being harmful to him and Karen wants to get Frosty to the North Pole even though the likelihood of her surviving those conditions are slim to none. Honestly with that aspect it kind of makes this simple story even better.

Frosty the Snowman is a great Christmas classic. It has good music, good animation, great voice acting from the cast, and the story is while simple is still good and charming.

My final rating is A Must Watch

Well guys that's all for me. Come back on Saturday, Dec 5th for my review of the newest David Fincher movie, Mank. Until then enjoy the rest of your day and watch Christmas classics like Frosty the Snowman. 'Tis the season after all.
