My Most Anticipated Movies of 2023

Hi guys, and it's that time again. It's that time when I tell you what movies of this year I'm looking forward too. Even if these are some I might not get the chance to watch and review.

Now typically when I do these I put what months the movies are coming out. I'm not gonna do that. Cause for twice in a row just when I think the release date is final, next thing you know the date changes. So with that out of the way, let's get started.

The first film on the list is M3GAN. The sole reason is because this is written by the same team that wrote Malignant. That film was an absolute crazy good experience, and I'm the writers bring that same craziness to this one.

Next up is Knock at the Cabin. I don't care what a majority of critics have been saying. After the disaster that was After Earth, M Night. Shyamalan has been doing a really good job. No, it hasn't been perfect, but if you were to compare films such as The Happening, The Last Airbender, and the previously mentioned After Earth, to things such as The Visit, Split, Glass, and Old, there's been an improvement. So I hope he continues to keep us with this flick.

Now we have Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. I've been keeping a close eye on this film ever since it was announced. The premise sounds crazy, and after seeing The Mean One, I'm curious if this can be just as darkly hilarious as that, if not more so.

Next is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Not too long ago I story broke out that Marvel was doing some quality control after the less than stellar reception regarding Phase Four. The teaser was pretty good, and I'm that supposed quality control had some sort of effect on this film.

Cocaine Bear...do I really need to say anything other than that? It's about a bear that eats coke, and goes on a rampage. What more could you ask for?

Then there's Scream VI. My primary reason for wanting to see this is because, even though the last Scream sadly didn't have Wes Craven attached to it, it was still surprisingly good. So I'm curious if lightning will strike twice.

The seventh film on the list is Shazam!: Fury of the Gods. The first Shazam! was definitely a fun film, and I'm hoping this one will take what we liked about the first, and make it even better like every sequel should do.

The next movie I'm looking forward to is John Wick: Chapter 4. Ever since this became a film series, every sequel hasn't disappointed, they've all been awesome. So I'm hoping for another top notch film for the fourth movie in this franchise.

Then there's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, just going by the trailers these seems like it's going to be a really bright and fun movie. Sure everyone's not feeling it with Chris Pratt as Mario, but I don't think that's gonna effect the entire film. But one thing I think we can all agree on one thing, that it's definitely gonna be way better than that live-action flick we got back in the 90's.

Now there's Renfield. After seeing the first trailer, I just can't wait. This looks like it's gonna be an absolute blast, and even though we only got a tiny glimpse on him in the trailer, it seems like Nicolas Cage is gonna go over the top, which is always awesome to see. Also Chris McKay is directing and he's brought us entertaining films such as The Lego Batman Movie and The Tomorrow War, so I think he may have another winner on his hands.

Now we've got the next film which is Evil Dead Rise. I amazes me how this film series such hasn't missed. Every Evil Dead film has been really good. Even the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead was awesome. So because of this status, I'm really looking forward to this, and I'm hoping for nothing but the best for this film.

Next is Fast X. I know critics have been rolling their eyes at this film series for the action being over the top as of late, but come on. Why else are people going to see these movies? Because of "family"? Doubtful. But yes, I'm looking forward to the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, because I actually do find enjoyment in a lot of these films.

Next is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I'll be short and sweet, Into the Spider-Verse was one of the many great films from 2018, so I'm really looking forward to the sequel, and wondering what the filmmakers can do that'll possibly top the first movie.

Our next movie is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. I'm gonna be honest for a moment, I'm not impressed with them pandering with the nostalgia, as suppose to just finishing the story that they had with the "Bayformers". But even with that aside, I can't deny the newer installment has been good so far. Bumblebee was better than I expected, and the trailer for this film is was good. So I'm hoping all of the hype surrounding this film lives up to it.

The next pick is very much controversial and that's The Flash. Yes, Ezra has been...not the best person to put it lightly, but I'm going to separate art from the artist (even though Ezra didn't write or direct, but you get the point). Anyhow, we've all been waiting a long time for a Flash movie to come out, we got many delays with this film. So I'm hoping the waiting was worth it.

Another June release is Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Ever since I discovered this franchise back when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark play on TV when I was young, I've been looking forward to another Indy flick. I know a lot of people are worried about this one because of a leak, but I'm gonna give this film a chance, and hope James Mangold can give another great movie.

The 17th film is Oppenheimer. Not only do we have a huge and all-star cast for this, but we also have Christopher Nolan writing and directing. And Nolan hasn't made one bad movie, he's got nothing but a winning streak. So my expectations for this film are very high.

The next one on the list is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhen. I love the Ninja Turtles, and I've enjoyed every theatrical released movie...okay I enjoyed 4 out of the 6 but still. So I'm pumped we're getting a new film, because I feel like it's long overdue.

Now we come to Meg 2: The Trench. I had an absolute blast back in 2018 with The Meg. So you can only imagine how much excitement I have knowing we're FINALLY getting a sequel.

We move onto Gran Turismo. What caught my interest with this one is the director, Neill Blomkamp. He's more known for sci-fi films such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie. So it's gonna be pretty interesting to see how he tackles a biographical sports drama.

I don't think it's surprising that I put Dune: Part Two on the list. Denis Villeneuve absolutely killed it with the first film back in 2021, and I got a really good feeling he'll do the same for the sequel.

The film that takes this spot is Ghostbusters 4. Jason Reitman surprised not only Ghostbusters fans, but everyone else with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Now Jason won't be directing and writing this, he'll only be writing and producing. But I still have a good feeling that he'll bring us another good Ghostbusters movie.

The last one is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. I was blown away just how good the first movie was, and much like previous movies, I'm glad that after many delays, we're finally getting this film.

So, those are my most anticipated movies. I hope to see all if not some of them. Come back on Saturday, Jan 7th for my review of M3GAN. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.
