Justice League Review

Justice League is a superhero film based on the DC Comics team of the same name. It's the fifth film in the DC Extended Universe and the first theatrical live-action film of the team. Justice League is produced by DC Films, RatPac Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment, and Cruel and Unusual Films and the distributor is Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is written by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon and directed by Zack Snyder.



The story is Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince are putting together a team that consist of The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. This newly formed team must defend Earth from General Steppenwolf and his army of parademons, who are the hunt for the Mother Boxes.

• Negatives

My only complaint for the film is Danny Elfman's score. It's kind of forgettable I only remember one theme in the movie and that was the 1989 Batman theme and it was only there for one scene and played for a couple of seconds.

• Mix

One thing that left me confused was were there some scenes cut out from the movie? I say this because it almost felt that way. It's no where near as bad like it was for the theatrical edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but you kind of have that feeling. Hopefully we get a ultimate cut of Justice League? Please?

Now to tell you about Superman's return! It's fine. It may not be the huge glorious return that all the big time Superman fans probably wanted. But for what it's worth it was decent enough.

• Positives

One thing to love about Justice League are the visuals. Zack Snyder gave this film like he does with his previous films beautiful visuals. The best ones in my opinion were whenever The Flash ran it just looked amazing.

Now I am going to say I did like the lighter tone. But not because I thought it was something that the film or the DC Extended Universe franchise "needed". I liked because it was showing how the DCEU has variety when it comes to their movies.

I loved the action scenes in Justice League. The scenes were well shot and they got me excited. My favorite one was the final battle with General Steppenwolf especially since Superman was involved. It was great.

Now I already liked Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman but what about the newcomers Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. They were awesome. Each of them got their moment to shine and I can't wait to see their solo movies.

The villain in Justice League General Steppenwolf was a pretty good villain. He's very much ruthless and I loved that aspect of his character. But if I'm being honest not favorite bad guy my favorite is still General Zod.

Justice League does indeed contain a mid and post-credit scene. Now I did like that mid-credit scene it was very much enjoyable but I can't stress this enough but stay for the post-credit scene. The post-credit scene was awesome. I would like to describe it to you but I can't so I'll give you a hint. It's all about villains and that's all I'm gonna say.

Justice League's best aspects are Zack Snyder's visuals, the lighter tone, exciting action sequences, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Flash, General Steppenwolf, and the mid and post-credit scenes especially the post-credit scene. The more grey areas are scenes that might have been cut and Superman's return. My only grip with the movie was Danny Elfman's unfortunate forgettable score.

The Top 11 Dumbest Justice League News Stories

It feels like a long road waiting for Justice League to come out. I still can't believe were finally getting this movie and it comes out tomorrow too but this road felt even longer what with all the mind numbing "news" stories flying around. So I decided to countdown the ones that I thought were the most stupid. Here they are my top eleven dumbest Justice League new stories.






#11. Justice League is a sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

So it must have been a very slow news day probably the slowest it's ever been because Comic Book Movie.com released a story on August 28th telling us about how Justice League will serve as a direct sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and all I had to say was no shit! Everybody knew this and the trailers showed us that. Did we really need to waste time writing an article about this? And it wasn't just Comic Book Movie.com that did this there was also ScreenRant, FlickingMyth, and so many others that ran with this story.









#10. Justice League will have a lighter tone because of the negative response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Now for this I'm not going to list any sites in particular because pretty much all of them ran with this story. I thought this was dumb because this was always the filmmakers idea it wasn't because people found Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice too dark and they said let's make Justice League be more lighter. One of the writers for Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Chris Terrio said this during his interview for the Wall Street Journal "I expected "Justice League" will be tonally not quite dark as "Batman v Superman". From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit." He said this two weeks before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released in theaters.












#9. "Whedon's" Justice League Had a Test Screening


The basic for this story was on Sept 1st comic book writer/artist Rob Liefeld tweeted this message "Heard Warner's tested Whedon Justice League this week". Now this did make the news which is my problem. Liefeld (one of the biggest hacks in the comic book industry) just tweeted this to I guess get attention or just make a bad joke and we gave it to him. Luckily people called him out on it saying it's Zack Snyder's Justice League (which it rightfully is) or how there's no way Warner Bros. could have had a test screening since at the time they were still filming reshoots.










#8. The Reshoots are "Significant"


Once again I'm not going to be naming any sites because one I forget who ran with this story first and two I'm pretty sure every news site ran with this. So yeah apparently a large majority of journalist kept saying that the reshoots were somehow significant. I didn't believe that because reshoots happen all the time with movies whether big or small. Also during San Diego Comic-Con Ray Fisher who plays Cyborg said that the reshoots were brief and their about wrapped up. So yeah it really sounds like their going to be significant.









#7. Hot Toys' Superman Sparks a Debate


Now this is a story I read on ScreenRant. The short story is on July 19th ScreenRant writer Ben Kendrick wrote a story titled "Is Superman Suit Brighter Colored in Justice League"? It was mainly about a Hot Toys' standee. But do you noticed anything about the picture I'm using? If you said it's under a light they you would be correct. So of course the suit looks bright there's a light above it giving it that color. So because of this one toy and this one story there were actually debates going around about Superman's costume being brighter. Sometimes people both confuse and irritate me.












#6. Thanking Joss Whedon for An Awesome Justice League Trailer


This is one of the stories that made my blood boil. Angela Watercutter of WIRED.com released a story titled You Can Thank Joss Whedon For That Great New 'Justice League' Trailer after the San Diego Comic-Con trailer was released online. This was a terrible story because just watch the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_6yBZKj-eo. Now if any of you are fans of either Joss Whedon, Zack Snyder, or both then you can tell they have different styles when it comes to directing. And nothing about this trailer said "oh yeah this is a Joss Whedon movie". Also Angela's reasons were stupid. One reasoning was it opens up with Wonder Woman and badass female characters are Joss' "thing" and that The Flash was being played as the rookie of the group. Even though Flash was already being played that way before Joss Whedon was hired. An other reason for why this was awful is because Whedon was brought on board in May and San Diego Comic-Con was in July. This means everything Joss was filming wouldn't have been ready to be shown at Comic-Con.













#5. Redoing The Ending Because of Joss Whedon


You know I'm starting to think hiring Joss Whedon has done more harm than good. The bases of this story is on April 12th comicbook.com reported that Joss Whedon was redoing the ending to the movie. Because supposedly the original ending had a cliffhanger that would have led into Justice League 2. My problem with this is they (the filmmakers) said that last year the movie was going to be it's own story. Which means whether it was Joss Whedon or Zack Snyder the movie was always going to redo the ending.













#4. Superman's Return is Spoiled By a Toy?


This one just made face palm. Two things folks one there might be a possibility that this is spoiler so if I spoiled anything I apologize and another thing I forgot which site made this story so once again I apologize for that. Anyways the description for the toy which was a Funko Pop by the way says this "The Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash are barely holding their own against invading Parademons and an axe-wielding Steppenwolf. If only Superman in Funko figure form was here. LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! Is that...is that Superman?? IT IS! It's Superman Justice League Movie Funko Pop Vinyl Figure and it resurrected itself moments before Steppenwolf skewered Wonder Woman with a hefty chunk of Valenzuela!". This was a terrible because with the way Justice League has being marketed i.e. a lack of Superman with no spoilers of his return there's no way Warner Bros. or DC would have let this get out. Especially on a Funko Pop of all things.













#3. All of The Ben Affleck is Leaving Batman Rumors


This for whatever reason keeps popping up no matter how many times it's been debunked. Countless sites have made stories all with different ways of saying it but still remaining the same story over and over and over again. So that's why for this I'm not using a specific site because all of them were running with this rumor. But what really made me mad about this story is two things. One if Ben Affleck really wanted to leave the role of Batman wouldn't he have left after the negative reviews from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and not stick around for Suicide Squad, Justice League, a solo Batman film that's going to be directed by Matt Reeves, or the sequel to Justice League and two Ben had this to say about playing Batman "Batman is the coolest fucking part in any universe. I am so thrilled to do it. It is fucking amazing. After two films, Kevin Tsujihara, Sue Kroll, and Toby Emmerich have said 'We want you to be our Batman'. I would be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves. It's a great time in the DC universe, and you see why I am so excited to play Batman". Yeah this really sounds like a guy who wants to stop playing Batman and leave the DC Extended Universe.













#2. Justice League's Early Cut is Considered Unwatchable


On August 14th WhatCulture.com's Simon Gallagher reported that an early cut from Justice League was called unwatchable from his article titled "Disastrously, Justice League's Early Cut Was Unwatchable". Here are my problems with this. One Simon's source is a website called Batman on Film.com. Now I wouldn't trust that source as far as I can throw them because one they've done some pretty shady stuff in the past and two they've been anti-DC Extended Universe for a long time. So yeah I'm not trusting them. My other problem with this is it was an early cut so of course it wasn't going to be watchable. When you have an early cut of a movie it's always going to look bad. The reason for that is very simple it's not the final cut your going to see on the big screen because the movie is still being worked on.














#1. Justice League is Apparently Being Remade


Here it is everyone! The number one dumbest Justice League story. On June 20th Collider.com released another episode to their show Collider Heroes with the episode titled "Amy Pascal's Venom Comments; Simon Kinberg Talks Dark Phoenix" . During the show's Twitter Questions segment the host Jon Schnepp (the guy above) said that Justice League was being reshot, reedited, and etc. Now once again we have to look at the timeline. Joss Whedon (because that's who he was talking about) was hired to do reshoots in May and Justice League comes out on November 17th. You mean to tell me that Joss Whedon is somehow remaking an entire movie within a time span of five months. That is physical impossible especially for a movie of this magnitude. If Joss Whedon was to remake the entire film the release date would have to be pushed back to either mid to late-2018. So unless Whedon is as fast as The Flash I'm not buying this for one second.




Dishonorable Mention - The Big Bang Theory Revealed a Seventh Justice League Member





This is one I considered putting on the list but I kept it out because it was long enough for me. But hey here's another dumb Justice League news story for ya. Now once again there could be a possibility that this is true and if it is I apologize for spoiling this for you that was not my intent. So here's the story on October 18th Metro.co.uk released a story titled "Did The Big Bang Theory Just Drop a Major Justice League Spoiler?" It described that the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory were giving fans a chance to win tickets for the premiere of Justice League. One of the logos was of long time member of the Justice League Green Lantern. Once again I thought this was a dumb story because simply by the way Warner Bros. and DC have been marketing the film there's no way they would let this get out. They've been having a no major spoilers marketing since the first trailer dropped and have been doing an amazing job at that. So for them to slip up like this would ruin all the excitement of a seventh member that's if there is one.




So those were my picks for the dumbest Justice League news stories and I hoped you enjoyed them. Let's hope the next DC film doesn't get this many awful stories and/or rumors because I don't want to make a list of the dumbest Aquaman news stories.

Raiders of The Lost Media - Bully - Jimmy Hopkins' Death

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some details. So take this post with a grain of salt.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Raiders of The Lost Media that's right you get two of these in one month. I haven't done something like since August. Anyhow let's move on from the introduction and get right into the topic at hand.

Part One - What is Bully?

Bully is an action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Vancouver and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on October 17th, 2006 for the PlayStation 2. Then a remastered version of the game subtitled Scholarship Edition was released on March 4th, 2008 and developed by Mad Doc Software for the Xbox 360 and Wii and then released on October 21st, 2008 for Microsoft Windows. Then on December 8th, 2016 an updated version of the Scholarship Edition this time subtitled Anniversary Edition was released for the Android and iOS.

Part Two - The Plot

Taking place in the fictional town of Bullworth 15 year old James "Jimmy" Hopkins is sent to a private boarding school called Bullworth Academy by his mom and his new-stepdad after being expelled from seven previous schools. While his newly married parents are off enjoying their honeymoon Jimmy is trying rise through the ranks of the school system that consist of the cliques those being the Bullies, Nerds, Jocks, Preppies, and Greasers.

Part Three - Jimmy's Death

The basic for this is during the stage "Showdown at the Plant" Jimmy is going to have to fight Edgar but Jimmy is trying to tell Edgar that they don't need to fight but Edgar doesn't listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3ZF-Tr9GV0. Originally if Jimmy lost or got knocked out he would have fallen into a pool of acid thus killing him.

Part Four - Fan Made Cutscene

Part Five - Why It Was Best to Leave It Out

I don't give my opinions on this segment but I feel like it was a good idea by the developers to not put this in the game. I don't typical like censorship in the entertainment industry unless it's warranted. But you see Bully was already surrounded in controversy what with people saying the game was glorifying or trivializing bullying. Their were also stages where the player has to kiss a couple of girls in the game but you also had to kiss a boy. Because of this the game was criticized for containing homosexuality. So yeah with all this stuff surrounding the game it was a good idea for them to get rid of Jimmy's death, pretty sure the last thing Rockstar wanted was a bunch of angry online post or letters about them killing a child.

Well that ends this edition of Raiders of The Lost Media I'll have yet another one of these but that will be by the end of the month. Also for that Raiders of The Lost Media I'll talk about another video game only this time it will be for the PC and it was entirely cancelled instead of one scene being cut. So look out for that.

Raiders of The Lost Media - Dumbo II

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some details. So take this post with a grain of salt.






Well now that I'm done with Thor: Ragnarok it's time to take a short break from superheroes before Justice League comes out and talk about an abandoned sequel that being Dumbo II which was scheduled to be released in 2001.

Part One - The Premise


Dumbo II would have taken place one day after the events of the first movie. The plot would have involved Dumbo, Timothy Q. Mouse, and a bunch of baby animals each of whom represented a different stage of childhood. Then they all would of gotten separated in New York City, while trying to find their way back each character would have learned to fix their own flaws.



Part Two - List of Characters


Three of the characters would have been Dumbo, Timothy, and Mrs. Jumbo. Other characters would have been the baby animals that being Penny an ostrich who is jealous of Dumbo because he can fly and she can't, Godfry a hippo who is older than the other animals and insist on doing everything by himself, Dot a zebra who is always curious and has a habit of saying why?, and Claude and Lolly (whose names were once going to be Sophia and Ivan) were twin bear cubs who always do things in a hurry which often ends in disaster. The only confirmed human character would have been an evil animal control officer who chases Dumbo and company around New York while they're trying to get back home.



Part Three - The Crew

Part Four - Cancellation


Now there's a very simple reason to why Dumbo II was cancelled and never released to the public. The reason is when Pixar founder John Lasseter was hired to be Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios he shut production down.




Part Five - Is It Finished?

Thor: Ragnarok Easter Eggs & Things Changed from The Trailers

Warning: This post contains spoilers. You have been warned.

It's that time again folks where I tell you some of the easter eggs I noticed in Thor: Ragnarok and remember I'm not listing every single one just the ones I noticed. So let's get started.







During the beginning of the movie Thor mentions how he's been searching for the Infinity Stones. The Infinity Stones are the most powerful thing in the Marvel Universe and will definitely be a big problem for the Avengers for when they have to fight Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.






Now it's time to talk about everybody's favorite green monster the Hulk. In the movie he's wearing gladiator armor that looks very close to the one he wore during the Planet Hulk storyline.







Then later on we see Hulk wearing an outfit that looks similar to the one he wore in Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine. You know the one, it's the comic where the Hulk rips Wolverine in half.




Thor's short hair appearance is a nod to he's current look in the comics. The only thing that's missing from that look is the metal arm. Which to be honest if he got that in the movie it would have looked awesome.






We get a play reenacting Thor: The Dark World more specifically Loki's supposed death. With Chris Hemsworth's older brother Luke Hemsworth playing Thor and Matt Damon playing Loki.







Also during the play the actor playing Loki brings up turning Thor into a frog. Which is a nod to when Thor was actually turned into a frog. He was often called Throg.






The Grandmaster's arena where he has his gladiator matches is called "Contest of Champions". This is a reference to the Marvel Comics' limited series also titled Contest of Champions and while we do get superheroes fighting each other the reason for them fighting are complete different.






Stan Lee gets his usual cameo appearance. This time he's playing a crazed barber who cuts Thor's hair.






Thor: Ragnarok actually gives an answer to how we have two Infinity Gauntlets in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before I tell you what the answer is let me explain a few things. Back in 2011 when the first Thor movie was released people noticed an Infinity Gauntlet with Infinity Stones on it in Asgard's vault. Then in 2015 during the post-credit scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron we saw Thanos put on his Infinity Gauntlet which didn't have Infinity Stones. This drove fans crazy wondering how Thanos could possible have an Infinity Gauntlet without the stones when we saw one with the stones in an earlier Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Luckily Thor: Ragnarok finally explains this is by telling us the one in Asgard's vault is a fake.






During Hulk and Thor's fight in the Contest of Champions, Hulk takes Thor and slams into the ground by his legs. Loki stands up and shouts "Yeah that's what that feels like!" This is a callback to when the Hulk did the same thing to Loki in The Avengers (2012).

Beta Ray Bill

Bi-Beast

When we see the building for the Contest of Champions the front of it has the faces of past champions. The champions are other Marvel Comics' characters those being Beta Ray Bill, Man-Thing, Ares, and Bi-Beast



So those were the easter eggs I noticed in Thor: Ragnarok. I hoped you enjoyed this and I hope you'll all enjoy my next and last easter egg post of the year related to Justice League.

 Things Changed

Hey guys so I really felt like I was lacking on some the easter eggs here so as an added bonus I'm going to tell you some things that were changed from the trailers we saw. So here I go

One thing that was changed was when Hela destroyed Mjolnir. Originally it was going to happen in some sort of New York alley and then an explosion across the city. But what we got in the movie was Hela destroying the hammer on the edge of a cliff in Norway right after Odin died. Taika Waititi the director of Thor: Ragnarok said they changed the setting because the alleyway didn't provide the emotional impact they were going for.

Another thing that was changed were that all four members of "The Revengers" being on the Bifrost Bridge ready to battle Hela. In the movie however only three members are on the bridge those being Thor, Loki, and Valkyrie and the Hulk was busy fighting Hela's dog Fenris. The coloring is also quite different in the trailer it looks like their fighting in the day and in the actual movie it's very gray and dark what with all the destruction going around.

In the Thor: Ragnarok trailers we clearly see that Thor has both eyes. While in the movie Hela brutally cleaved his left eye right out of it's socket. Now it's very obvious why they did this, it was so we would have a shocking moment for the move. Unless your reading this but hey I warned you there would be spoilers.

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Thor: Ragnarok is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics' character Thor. The movie is the sequel to Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013) as well as the seventeenth film installment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Thor: Ragnarok is written by Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, and Eric Pearson and directed by Taika Waititi.


The story is Thor has been defeated by the Goddess of Death herself Hela. Now he is imprisoned on another planet where he is forced to fight against he's former Avengers ally the Hulk. Thor must win this fight and build a team against Hela before all of Asgard is destroyed and prevent the rise of Ragnarok.

• Negatives

My only complaint for Thor: Ragnarok is the post-credit scene. Just like Spider-Man: Homecoming it's pointless, unfunny, and you can just skip it. I don't get what Marvel Studios is doing with these post-credit scenes as of later. It's like their just there for one more laugh but at the end of the day it wasn't worth staying for.

• Mix

You all probably heard how this is the funniest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie yet. Well while it does provide you with humor some of it either was hit or miss or just ruined a good moment. Now I'm not going to tell you about the hit or miss jokes although I will admit some of the stuff with the Hulk was cringey. But what I do want to tell you is the jokes that ruined good moments. One moment is the finale I won't give it away but what I will say is it's a jaw-dropping and shocking moment which was ruined when one of the characters (Korg) cracked a joke. It just really took away the sting from said moment.

• Positives

One thing to praise the movie about is the action. The action scenes are just spectacular and I wanted more. Two of my favorites were the gladiator match between Hulk and Thor and when every Thor went full God mode. It was awesome.

If there's one thing I wished critics would talk about more than the fun or funny moments and that's the darker stuff. There was some pretty good dark moments in this movie that were worth talking about. To me one of the darkest moments were Thor and Hela's fight at Asgard, I won't tell you what happened exactly all I'll say is Thor gets a brutal injury and the other dark moment is Hela just slaughtering anybody that gets in her way.

Thor: Ragnarok has some pretty good visuals too. The one shot from the movie that's stuck in my head is the flashback to when Valkyrie fought Hela. My words to that scene doesn't give it any justice you have to see it for yourself.

Thor: Ragnarok won't be one of my favorite films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I still enjoyed it. The action scenes get you excited, the dark moments will shock you, and there are some stunning visuals as well. If there's one thing the film could have worked on more it's the humor, and the only thing I hated about the movie was that post-credit scene.

My final rating is Okay

Before you read the State of The Project I just want to say one more thing. If your a fan of Thor and Ragnarok is your favorite story arc you'll hate this movie and alike some people I'm not going to blame you for that. But if your part of the general audience you'll get a good kick out of this movie.

No Cinematic Disasters This Month

Hey everybody so this isn't the best way to start off November but I just wanted to make an announcement. All I want to say is I'm giving Cinematic Disasters a break. That means throughout this month there isn't going to a single Cinematic Disaster review. I'm doing this to really challenge myself like can I go a whole month without reviewing a bad movie from the past? So that's all I wanted to say but don't worry if any of you liked Cinematic Disasters there well be one next month and yes it will be a bad Christmas movie, an animated bad Christmas movie at that. So look out for that next month it will be the very first review for December.
