A Look Back at Deadpool (2016)

Deadpool is a 2016 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics' character of the same name. The movie is the eighth installment in the X-Men film series. Deadpool was produced by Marvel Entertainment, Kingberg Genre, The Donners' Company, and TSG Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The movie was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and directed by Tim Miller.




The story is Wade Wilson is a former Special Forces agent who know works as a mercenary. One day Wade is diagnosed with cancer but on that day someone says they will help Wade with his situation. The experiment goes wrong and now Deadpool wants revenge on those who did him wrong.

• Mix

Deadpool was made with a budget of $58 million dollars and some of the CGI really shows just that. One scene I remember is when Ajax threw Vanessa and it's pretty obvious it wasn't actually Monrena Baccarin. But there are times when the CG is great. Mainly on Colossus.

• Positives

Now Ryan Reynolds and company wanted to make a more comic accurate Deadpool film to make up for whatever the heck that thing was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And they did just that. Deadpool's not taking everything seriously and this is without a shadow of doubt The Merc with The Mouth.

Another thing to love about the film is the humor. This is the most hilarious film that I saw in 2016 (right next to The Nice Guys of course) and to this day it's still funny.

The movie does take a break from the action scenes to tell you Wade's origin story, and it's done perfectly. Throughout the flashbacks you really feel for Wade and what he's going through. The point that I think really got people was he's quote about cancer.

This film was Tim Miller's debut as a director. And looking back on this movie I would have never guessed that. I mean through the whole movie you don't get that feeling that this is somebody's first time directing.

The final thing I'll praise Deadpool for is the action. This movie is (and I'm also counting credits too by the way) 108 minutes long but due how fast paced the action scenes were it didn't feel that way. Also another thing about those scenes were it's impossible to feel bored.

Deadpool deserved all of the praise it received back in 2016. The movie is more comic accurate to the title character, it's humor is very much funny, Wade's origin makes you feel sorry for him, Tim Miller did great as a director, and the action scenes are awesome. The only thing that should have been worked on more is the CGI.
