I'm back with another Looking Back at the Films of 2019, and today I'll be reviewing Zombieland: Double Tap. Let's begin.
Why I Didn't I See Zombieland: Double Tap?
It's a very simple reason, my theater for whatever reason didn't have a showing. They favored Maleficent: Mistress of Evil over this one. Which totally sucked because I loved the first Zombieland movie so when I heard a sequel was coming out I was pumped.
What is Zombieland: Double Tap?
Zombieland: Double Tap is a post-apocalyptic horror comedy and the sequel to 2009's Zombieland. The movie was produced by Columbia Pictures, 2.0 Entertainment, and Pariah and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Zombieland: Double Tap was written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and David Callaham and directed by Ruben Fleischer. The story is it's been years since the first movie, and after all that time Little Rock decides it's time to leave the nest. So one night she does just that and hooks up with a pacifist musician. However, when the rest of the group get word of a new super zombie (dubbed the T-800) they set out to find and hopefully rescue a member of their family.
My Thoughts
The Good: One thing I liked about this movie was the humor. I don't think it's funnier than the first but there's still a lot of good laughs to have with this one. Another thing I enjoyed was the action. It was really fun/exciting, I especially liked the monster truck scene that was pretty cool. What also made this movie good was the performances, everyone still has it when they play their characters. Especially Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee. The last thing I'll talk about what I liked about the movie was the mid-credit scene. That was both funny and awesome at the same time. I won't spoiler it just check it out for yourself.
The Bad: I really didn't like the post-credit scene. It's quite literally an outtake. Why was that here? Aren't those suppose to be like an extra for the physical copies?
The Meh: The only thing I'm mixed on is the love triangle with Columbus, Wichita, and the newest character Madison. I wasn't fully invested in but at the same time I understood why the writers put here, because they needed some sort of conflict within the group and I felt luckily it didn't drag down the movie for a majority of it's runtime.
Final Verdict: Good.
