Avengers: Infinity War Review

Avengers: Infinity War is superhero film based on the Marvel Comics' team The Avengers. Avengers: Infinity War is the sequel to 2012's The Avengers and 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as the nineteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Avengers: Infinity War is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directed by Anthony & Joe Russo.

The story is Thanos has invaded Earth in search of the Infinity Stones. With these stones he will be able to bend all of reality to his will. The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy must team-up to stop his path of destruction before it ends the entire universe.

Initial Reaction

Now even though I made a list of the three things I was most worried about for this film that still didn't stop me from being excited. Both the trailers were awesome mostly the first one in my opinion and this looked like it could be a darker film than the previous entries in the MCU. Also this has been build up for quite a while now and hopefully Marvel Studios brought it's A-game for this film.

Cons

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

Middle Ground

Now Marvel does like to have some humor in all of their films and while some parts are acceptable other times not so much. Like when Spider-Man and Starlord out of nowhere have a small discussion regrading Footloose. What made it so unnecessary was Iron Man was making a plan to get the Infinity Gauntlet off of Thanos. So it felt like an inappropriate time to be funny. But at least it wasn't anything like Thor: Ragnarok where the comedy was in overdrive.

Pros

One thing I really loved about this flick was how shocking it was. Now without giving away any spoilers there are moments that made my jaw drop. This is another Marvel film that gives the audience amazing action scenes. The best action sequences were Iron Man/Spider-Man with the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting Thanos and the final battle. What made those scenes so great were how high stakes are. One of my concerns for Avengers: Infinity War was the trailers we were given weren't going to be honest with us regarding the film's tone but surprisingly that wasn't the case. This isn't another Age of Ultron were we thought the movie was going to be dark because well that's what the trailers told us. This is the MCU's most brutal movie so far. And in all honesty I hope we see more of that. Now to talk about the big bad himself Thanos. Ladies and gentlemen I think Loki has finally been dethroned as the best villain in the MCU. What made him so great was not only can he handle himself against our heroes but his motivation. Basically he wants to bring balance to the universe, now that is something you can agree with but the execution not so much.

Avengers: Infinity War is not only going to make the list of one of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe films but also one of the best comic book movies ever made. It has shocking moments nobody would see coming, beautiful action scenes, an awesome and much needed dark tone, and Thanos being Marvel's best villains. The only thing that could have been trimmed or cut out of the film completely was the comedy bits.

My final rating is Great
