Batman and Harley Quinn is an animated superhero film and the twenty-ninth film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movie series. It's produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film is written by Bruce Timm and Jim Krieg and directed by Sam Liu.
The story is Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man have teamed up and they plan to turn people into plants. Batman and Nightwing have no choice but to form an alliance with Harley Quinn because she might have an idea of Poison Ivy's whereabouts.
- Negatives
One thing I hated about Batman and Harley Quinn was how Floronic Man was defeated. I won't give it away because I'm doing a non-spoiler review. I'll just say this it was very anti-climatic.
Another thing I didn't like was Poison Ivy and Floronic Man's big master plan. It was just turn people into plants and if the formula was wrong everyone dies. It's was just a generic plot.
I did not like the mid-credit and post-credit scenes. They just didn't add anything good to the story or entertain me.
- Mix
Now onto my feelings about Melissa Rauch as Harley Quinn. In all honesty I thought she did a decent job. She doesn't do a bad job as the character she's just okay. Yes it would have been great to have Tara Strong or Arleen Sorkin but I'm just glad Rauch didn't sound awful.
- Positives
One thing I loved about the movie was the humor. I wasn't expecting to laugh as much as I did throughout this film. So points for that.
There's a musical number where Harley sings Hanging on The Telephone. It was a very fun and enjoyable part of the movie.
Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester were the best actors here. It was so great to hear them play Batman and Nightwing again. Especially since they haven't been together as these characters since Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu back in 2003.
Like The Lego Batman Movie and Batman: Return of The Caped Crusaders there's easter eggs sprinkled throughout the movie. One of those being the ever so famous Batusi.
The final positive to give this movie is the animation. It looks like the classic Batman: The Animated Series designs but if they were made for HD. Which can give a nice nostalgic feeling.
Batman and Harley Quinn's weaknesses are Floronic Man's defeat being completely lame, an overused plot for the main villains, and a weak mid and post-credit scene. Melissa Rauch does an alright job as Harley Quinn. It's best strengths are the humor, Harley Quinn's musical number, Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester as our main heroes, cliver easter eggs, and well done animation.
