Hey everybody and welcome to another edition of me spotting easter eggs in the latest comic book film. Today it's Shazam's turn. Before we get started let me remind you I'm only doing the ones I noticed not every single easter eggs. Let's begin.

The film's story mainly takes inspiration from the New 52 version of Shazam. For the most part the film copies a lot of the scenes. Here are some of those

At one point Freddy and Billy need money and they go to an ATM.  This plan kind of works if you want to say that. They do get money but due to Billy's powers the machine to gives them more than what they want.

Another page taking from the comic is Freddy giving Shazam a jacket. The scenes are played out differently. In the comic he was so Billy wouldn't draw any attention, in the movie Billy (in his Shazam form) has the jacket to not only hid his costume but to impersonate himself as Freddy's dad. There are many more scenes like this but I've I got over any more this post will be too long so let's move on.

Much like how James Wan had an Annabelle doll cameo in Aquaman, Shazam's director David F. Sandberg (who directed Annabelle: Creation prior to this film) does the same thing. Her cameo appears when the cops Billy called enter a pawn shop. Look at the towards the lower left shelf on the screen and you'll see her.

When Billy is brought in by the cops and sent to a social worker, her desk has a mug, balls, and buttons with smiley faces on them. David F. Sandberg confirmed that it's a Watchmen easter egg.

When Billy meets the Wizard Shazam he gives Billy a history lesson. He tells a story about the first champion they chose only for that to backfire because he was filled with rage and such. This is clearly a reference to Black Adam.

One of Billy's closes friends is a talking tiger named Mr. Twany. While he doesn't make an appearance in the film their a quite a few references to him. During the beginning of the film when Billy was a little kid he tells his mom he wants the tiger, we see a tiger's face on Shazam's costume, and during the final battle with Dr. Sivana, Shazam meets a father with his scared little daughter and Shazam gives her a plush tiger.

During the montage sequence with Shazam and Freddy, they are playing video games. The game their playing is Mortal Kombat X.

Also during that montage of testing Billy's powers, Freddy is uploading all of the footage he recorded to YouTube with various names. One of those names being ZAP-tain America. A very clear reference to Captain America.

When Shazam and Freddy are trying to get themselves a lair, Billy's description is a cave but not just any cave, one with access to drive through a waterfall. This could be a easter egg to Nolan's Batcave.

When Billy and the other kids are fleeing from Dr. Sivana one of the doors they open has crocodiles wearing suits. These are one of Shazam's enemies those being...well...the Crocodile Men.

During the final confrontation with Dr. Sivana, Billy is forced to give his powers but instead gives them to his new found family. This gives them powers and turns them into Shazams too. This scene plays out very similarity to the comic.

When the kids are testing out their new powers, Eugene (the one in the grey Shazam suit) shouts "Hadouken". A nod to Ryu's famous move from the video game series Street Fighter.

When the film comes to a close Freddy and the other kids meet up with during lunch and said they made a special arrangement. Billy (in his Shazam form) comes out, praises Freddy, and also tells him he brought a friend. That friend being Superman. Although faceless because Sandberg and crew were filming in Toronto for a limited amount of time.

When we reach the mid-credit scene we see Dr. Sivana in jail and then he hears a voice. This voice is Mister Mind, a super intelligent worm. But this wasn't his first appearance in the movie. When Billy enters the Wizard's lair you can see him in his containment jar.

Alright everyone that's going to do it for me. Come back, Thursday April 11th for the return of the Road to Dark Phoenix with my review of X-Men: First Class. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.
