It Review

It is a horror film based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. It's produced by New Line Cinema, Lin Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, and KatzSmith Productions and RatPac-Dune Entertainment. The movie's distributor is Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie is written by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman and directed by Andrés Muschietti.


The story is it's the summer of 1989 and children are mysteriously disappearing or are found dead in the town of Derry, Maine. Then a group of kids known as The Loser's Club find out it's an evil entity that looks like a clown. They band together to stop this monster while at the same time overcoming their own personal fears.

I have nothing to say. So let's move on.

• Mix

Now there are two scenes that have not bad special effects but effects that could have been worked on a little bit more. One scene was when one of the bullies has a Pennywise balloon right in front of his face but the balloon's CGI isn't very good. The other scene is the projector scene all I want to say is when Pennywise jumps out the effect on him was kind of weird. Luckily the rest of the special effects were done really well and I'm grateful for that.

• Positives

One thing to absolutely love about this movie is that it delivers the scares. Each moment had me on the edge of my seat. One scene that terrified me the most is when Bill saw his brother George or rather his ghost down in the basement. He kept saying you'll float too but each time he said that he would sound more and more demonic.

Now I was worried about Bill Skarsgård being Pennywise. I thought he was just going to copy Tim Curry's performance but nope. I loved Skarsgård as Pennywise he was terrifying with that creepy smile and the way he talked I just loved everything he did with the character.

I'm done talking about Bill Skarsgård let's talk about the other actors those being our heroes the kids. Their performances were spectacular. They all did a great job in this movie. Their wasn't a single scene where I thought they were awful or found their acting unbelievable.

The writers made a smart move focusing more on the kid's fears than their social lives like the miniseries did. Each time we got a scene with their fears right in front of them all you wanted them do to was overcome them. So I really got invested in that aspect of the movie.


Another thing I loved about the movie was Richie. He was a great comedic relief. He got a lot of laughs from both me and the audience I was with.




It has a fantastic scary moments. Bill Skarsgård was great as Pennywise, the kid actors did amazing, I loved how we focused on the kid's fears rather than their social lives, and Richie was hilarious. And despite some effects not looking really good compared to others I still enjoyed the movie.



My final rating is Great
