Road to Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens Review

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (or simply called Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is a 2015 epic space opera and the first installment of the sequel trilogy as well as the seventh film in the Star Wars franchise. The movie is produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and Bad Robot Productions and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens was written by J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, and Michael Arndt and directed by J.J. Abrams.

The story is it's been thirty years since the Galactic Civil War. However in though the Empire was destroyed a new force of evil has risen called The First Order. The Resistance only hope is Luke Skywalker but nobody knows where he is. Only the droid BB-8 has the last piece of the map to Luke's location. Now a girl named Rey must bring BB-8 back to The Resistance before The First Order gets their hands of him.

  • Negatives

The one and only thing I didn't like about the movie was Starkiller Base. I mean it's just another Death Star and we already got those twice and both times those failed. So you would think The First Order would have learned from The Empire's mistake and NOT make another Death Star.

  • Mix

I've got nothing to say. So let's move on.

  • Positives

One thing you'll enjoy is the action. Those action sequences were insane and I enjoyed every single one of them. But you guys know me and how I like to pick which were my favorites. So if I had to choice it would definitely be the final act of the movie.

Now yes Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens does give you moments of nostalgia. However there not in your face about it. All of the nostalgic bits in the movie are played very subtly.

The other aspect to love about The Force Awakens is of course John Williams' score. The guy just continues his streak of providing us Star Wars fans with memorable and fantastic music that you'll want to listen over and over and over again.

Another thing that makes the movie so good is the special effects. They were done to perfection. From both practical effects to GCI everything was looked great. There was not one time when I thought "oh that looks terrible" or "that could have used more work".

The other part of the movie that was great was the acting. Everyone providing great performances. The best ones came from newcomers Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver. They great both together and separately.

The final thing I'll give the movie praise is J.J. Abrams' directing. He shot a beautiful movie and everyone of his shots were breathtaking. I'm so glad he'll be coming back for The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is a great installment to the Star Wars franchise. It has great action scenes, subtle nostalgia moments, a great score from John Williams, spectacular special effects, great acting, and J.J. Abrams' directing was awesome. The only downside is Starkiller Base.

My final rating is Great

So that's going to do it for me. Come back on Saturday, September 21st for my review of Rambo: Last Blood. Well what I'm hoping will be my review of Rambo: Last Blood it's hard to tell with my theater sometimes, but you know me if I can't give you a review of Rambo: Last Blood I'll write an apology post or I could review DreamWorks Animation's Abominable to make up for it. I don't know let's just see where events take us. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.
