New Segment Coming to The Michael Project

Hey everybody If any of you have been with this blog since day one then you would know that I have a lot of positive reviews on here. They range from A Must Watch to Okay. Well I want to change that I want to review some bad movies. Some people are probably wondering why would I want to do that simple for me I want to even it out a bit I mean the only review that's really negative is my review for the 1997's TV movie Justice League of America but I gave it a So Bad It's Good so even that's kind of positive in some odd way. I'm talking about the worst of the worst giving these films my lowest ratings those being Bad, Awful, or my worse rating of them all Destroy It. Now the question is what to call this segment...Hilariocity no Chris Stuckmann took that one. I know Cinematic Disasters okay it may not be the most creative name but it's the best I could come up with. So what film will be the first victim to this new segment I got just the one 2013's Movie 43. I'll have that review on May 1st so look out for Cinematic Disasters first review of Movie 43. A film so bad that film critic Richard Roeper called it "the Citizen Kane of awful".

A Look Back at Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

This review is dedicated to my grandmother.

Marry Ann Murray
Jan 23, 1932 - April 22, 2017

Note: This review contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Hey guys sorry I haven't been posting anything on my blog as of late I've sadly been dealing with a death in the family. I'm not telling you guys this to gain sympathy or anything like that I'm just telling you what's been going on in my life. So let's move on from the sad news and talk about one of my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 coming to theaters in only eleven days let's look back at the first movie. Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 superhero film based of the 2008 version of the team with the same name. It's produced by Marvel Studious and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It's also the tenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is directed by James Gunn and written by James Gunn & Nicole Perlmann

The story is a group of criminals are thrown into a situation where they have to work together to stop Ronan the Accuser from taking over the universe.

  • Negatives

One complaint I have with this movie is faking out Groot's(voiced by Vin Diesel) death. One reason I don't like this is they made us have this big emotional moment where this is the end of Groot then at the end of the movie when the Guardians defeated Ronan the Accuser(Lee Pace) they show he's alive. So what was the point of that emotional moment then? The second reason is around this time Marvel was doing that with their films in their second phase a lot they did it with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier hell their still doing that to this day "cough Captain America: Civil War cough".

  • Mix

I got nothing to put here so let's move on.

  • Positives

One thing I love with this movie is each one of our main characters get an even amount of screen time. None of the main characters lacked or had too much screen time they were each giving time to develop & have their moments to shine.

Another thing to love about this movie is the humor. To me this is probably the funniest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. I'm also kind of surprised with how much both Marvel & Disney let James Gunn get away with in this film. There's one scene where Star-Lord/Peter Quill(Chris Pratt) made a joke about how the inside of his ship is covered with his semen saying if a blacklight would be shined it would like a Jackson Pollock painting. Seriously how did the higher ups at Marvel & Disney let that go into the film?

Now on to the visual effects. The effects of this film are done perfectly there get to look at. The team really put some work into making sure none of these visuals were complete crap.

The film also has great acting in it. Every actor plays their respected character well but I think the person who should get the most credit is Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord. Watching him you can really tell that he loved playing this character and he does play Star-Lord very well.

Now to talk about the one thing this film is mostly know for it's music. It's funny how I now listen to Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede & Come and Get Your Love by Redbone so thanks Guardians of the Galaxy to giving more good music to listen to.

My final positive to give this movie is it didn't feel like it was setting up another MCU film. Not even the post-credit scene is setting up another film. Which is probably why it's my favorite because it's not being dragged down by having to set up another film that we won't see until next year.

Guardians of the Galaxy is in my opinion the best Marvel Cinematic Universe film out of all the MCU films. The main characters are all enjoyable to watch & are giving an even amount of screen time, all the jokes are hilarious & they work, the visual effects are done beautifully, the acting is great, and the music is fun to listen, and I'm glad the film wasn't setting up a film to excited for when we won't see it until next year maybe even two years. My only complaint is that fake out with Groot's fate.

My final rating for this movie is Great

The Fate of the Furious Review

Image result for the fate of the furious poster

The Fate of the Furious(aka Fast & Furious 8) is an action film and it is the eighth entry in The Fast and The Furious franchise. It's produced by Original Films, One Race Films, and Perfect World Pictures and distributed by Universal Pictures. The movie is directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan.

The story is Dom (Vin Diesel) has betrayed the teammates he called a family for a woman named Cipher (Charlize Theron) a cyberterriost. Now Dom's team want to take him down all while trying to figure out what Cipher's plan is.

  • Negatives

One complaint I have is it's a let down when you find out why Dom is working along side Cipher. It's very predictable & clichéd.

Another problem I have with this movie is Roman's(Tyree Gibson) constant yelling it was so irritating. They made a joke about in the film but sorry that doesn't make it any less annoying.

  • Mix

One thing that's not bad but at the same time not very good is some jokes don't work or land their mark. I laughed a large majority of the film but yeah those jokes that weren't funny did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

  • Positives

What I loved the most about this movie was the action it was crazy! Something is either blowing up, getting ripped apart, someone fighting hand-to-hand with someone else, or cars are crashing into each other but at this rate that's what we expect from these movies insane over the top action.

Another thing I liked about The Fate of the Furious was the interaction between Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) seeing them talk shit to one another was just entertaining.

Now on to the performances everybody does a good job playing their characters but if theirs anybody who really deserves the big thumbs up is Charlize Theron as Cipher. She did a fantastic job playing this cold-hearted villain straight to the point where I wanted something bad to happen to her character.

The Fate of the Furious has two problems the reason why Dom's working for Cipher & Roman's yelling seriously if they ever make another movie don't make most of his dialogue be yelling. The movie's grey area is sometimes jokes work or they don't. All the action was spectacular, Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham have good chemistry, and the actors performances were well done mostly from Charlize Theron.

My final rating for this movie is Okay

So that was my review for The Fate of the Furious look forward to my look back at Guardians of the Galaxy I'll be reviewing that because we are finally getting a sequel to one of my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and to think it's only 20 days away.

Also quick reminder my schedule is I'll be posting on Mondays & Thursdays not every Monday and Thursday but I'll try my best also recent released movie reviews might be posted on they day of their release, Saturdays or maybe even Mondays.

What You Probably Didn't Know About The Fast and The Furious (2001)

Note: This post contains spoilers. You have been warned.

So tomorrow the newest installment to The Fast and The Furious franchise that being The Fate of The Furious will be released. So like with my What You Probably Didn't Know About Antz post I decided to do the same thing but with The Fast and The Furious. Once again despite the numbering there is no specific order these facts are in so let's get to this shall we.

Image result for racer x ken li 2001

1. The whole premise to the film was inspired by an article called "Racer X" by a Vibe magazine journalist Ken Li(his on the right side). The story was all about street racing in New York.

2. Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Eminem were once considered for the role of Brian O'Connor before Paul Walker got the part.

3. Working titles for the film were Racer X, Redline, or Race Wars.

4. Rob Cohen has a cameo in the film. He's the Pizza Hut guy who was blocked during the first race.

5. This is the only movie in where Dominic(Vin Diesel) drives an import that being a 1993 red Mazda RX-7 through the rest of the film series he's seen driving American muscle cars.

6. Some people and critics consider The Fast and The Furious to be either a remake or an updated version of the 1991 film Point Break because they share so many similarities.

Image result for donnie brasco 1997

7. Paul Walker says he wanted to be in the film because of the 1997 film Donnie Brasco. He thought the idea of an undercover cop was a cool idea and wanted to portray that type of character.

8. This isn't much of a fact about the first film as much as it is the whole franchise but for the longest time both The Fast and The Furious films & the X-Men films have came out on the same year. For 2003 it was 2 Fast 2 Furious & X2:X-Men United then in 2006 it was The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift and X-Men: The Last Stand. In 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine & Fast and Furious came out fast forward to 2011 Fast Five & X-Men: First Class came out in the same year. Then in 2013 Fast and Furious 6 and The Wolverine are released. Furious 7 was going to be released in 2014 just like X-Men: Days of Future Past but was pushed back to 2015 because of Paul Walker's death.

9. During the Race Wars over 1,500 cars were used.

10. Natalie Portman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kirsten Dunst, Bijou Phillips, and Jessica Biel auditioned for the role of Mia.

12. The 1993 film Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story can be seen playing during Dom's house party on the television. This movie along with The Fast & The Furious was also directed by Rob Cohen.

13. There is also another film titled The Fast and The Furious back in 1955. The title rights not the story rights were purchased so that the studio could use the title.

15. Dom's 1970 Dodge Charger is the same body style as the famous General Lee from the 1969 TV series The Dukes of Hazard. This same Charger would be used in the 2005 film Herbie Fully Loaded in the opening scenes as a car in the junkyard.

16. When Dominic Toretto crashes his car at the end of the film it's the same street as the first drug bust in 2001 film Training Day. That film and this film were also written by David Ayer.

17. Some people consider Rebel Without a Cause(1955), Duel(1971), Mad Max 2:The Road Warrior(1981), the pervious mentioned Point Break(1991) to be influences to The Fast and The Furious but it's not just films that supposedly inspired The Fast and The Furious some people even consider the video games Need For Speed & Grand Theft Auto to be inspirations as well.
Image result for mario lopez and mark paul gosselaar

18. Rob Cohen's original casting choices for Dominic Toretto & Brian O'Connor were Mario Lopez & Mark Paul-Gosselaar but studio executives feared that reteaming two Saved By The Bell co-stars would confuse the audience. Personally I would have found it hilarious if they were cast could you imagine a fan theory that found some weird way to connect Saved By The Bell & The Fast and The Furious just because these two were cast.

19. When the movie was first submitted to the MPAA they thought of giving the film an R-rating mainly because of some shots showing Vince's mutilated arm during the final robbery so just for the sake of getting a PG-13 rating some of these shots were cut.

So there you have it so things you probably didn't know about The Fast and The Furious I hoped you enjoyed this. Anyhow I'm looking forward to The Fate of The Furious I hope it's good also they review could be on the day of it's release or Saturday maybe even Sunday or Monday.

Differences Between Justice League: Doom & JLA: Tower of Babel

Image result for justice league doomImage result for jla tower of babel
So awhile back I reviewed Justice League: Doom I told you how the story is loosely based JLA: Tower of Babel. However there are some notable differences between the two projects so let's list some of them.

Image result for justice league doom vandal savage

One thing that's different from the storyline is the villains. In Justice League: Doom it's Vandal Savage leading the Legion of Doom to destroy the Justice League. In Tower of Babel it's Ra's Al-Ghul and his League of Assassins who are the main villains.

Image result for kyle rayner and wally west

Another change to the story is Green Lantern & The Flash. In Justice League: Doom it's Hal Jordan & Barry Allen(my favorite Green Lantern & Flash) in Tower of Babel it's Kyle Rayner who is Green Lantern & Wally West is the Flash.

Image result for justice league doom

The Justice League members from both the film & storyline are different as well. In Justice League: Doom it's Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, and Martian Manhunter. In Tower of Babel the roster is slightly bigger it goes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and Plastic Man.

Image result for jla tower of babel superman

Now let's get into the death traps first let's talk about Superman's. In Tower of Babel his cells overload due to red Kryptonite it also causes his skin to have this creepy transparent look and also causing him to feel intense pain and overloading his solar absorption. In Doom he's simply shot in the chest with a green Kryptonite bullet by Metallo.

Batman's is slightly different in the movie Bane lures Bruce by digging up his parent's corpses and then buries him alive. In the comic Ra's Al-Ghul uses the same method only he doesn't bury Bruce he steals the bodies and Batman tries to find them causing a distraction.

Image result for justice league doom wonder woman

In Justice League: Doom Wonder Woman is infected by Cheetah with nanites that made her think everybody around is Cheetah both looks and sound she does this in hopes of giving her a heart attack because she'll never surrender until her opponent is beaten which means she won't give herself time to rest. This is similar to Tower of Babel but the League of Assassins put her in a virtual reality with an opponent equal to her still hoping to give her a heart attack.

Image result for talia al ghulImage result for dc ma'alefa'ak

In Tower of Babel Martian Manhunter is shot with bullet covered in nanites that covers the outer layer of skin in magnesium causing him to burst into flames. In Justice League: Doom Ma'alefa'ak(think of him as an evil version of Martian Manhunter) tricks Manhunter into drinking the magnesium.

Image result for jla tower of babel the flash

In Justice League: Doom Mirror Master puts a bomb of the Flash's wrist that will blow up if tries to take it off or decreases his speed. In Tower of Babel his shot with a special bullet that gives him seizures at lightspeed.

Image result for kyle rayner blind tower of babelRelated image

In Tower of Babel Green Lantern his rendered by blind by a post-hypnotic suggestion during a REM phase that his ring placed him while he was asleep. In Justice League: Doom Green Lantern is targeted by Star Sapphire by using Scarecrow's will-undermining fear gas. She later convinces Hal that he doesn't deserves the ring's powers. The whole using Scarecrow's fear gas was used for Aquaman in Tower of Babel making him aquaphobic meaning he now has fear of water but without water he would die in a matter of hours.

Image result for justice league doom superman and batman

In Justice League: Doom both Batman & Superman had plans for there deaths if any of Batman's contingency plans did happen to them. However in Tower of Babel neither of them thought of those.

Image result for jla tower of babel ra's al-ghul

The big plan in both the movie & the comic event do have a similar concept which reduce the human population but the way of going about are different. Ra's Al-Ghul plan was an attack against human language by using a specially designed tower to generate a low-level sonic signal which causes written & spoken language to be made up of total nonsense. Vandal Savage's plan was to use a apocalyptic cataclysm via solar flare.

Now on to the final part of this compare and contrast which would be the endings in JLA: Tower of Babel the ending is kind of bittersweet while Ra's Al-Ghul's plan was stopped the Justice League is furious with Batman and what he did they put in to a vote but before Superman can be the tie-breaker Batman leaves in shame of what happened. In Justice League: Doom it felt more optimistic Batman criticizes the other members for not thinking of a rouge Justice League he leaves but before he can Superman ask him about his contingency plans he tells they were only meant to immobilize. Superman has his trust in him assured and gives him the kryptonite bullet and Batman teleports out of the Watchtower.

Those are all the differences I found in Justice League: Doom & JLA: Tower of Babel and I hoped you enjoyed reading this. Now to give a little announcement I will now only be posting stuff on my blog on Mondays & Thursdays it won't be every Monday & Thursday though because there's only so much I can think about putting on this blog. Anyways so look forward to my post about What You Probably Didn't Know About The Fast & The Furious it's my way of getting hyped for The Fate of The Furious that and it's a little late for me to review all of the Fast & Furious movies.

Road to Justice League- Justice League: Doom Review

Note: This review contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Jla doom 2012.jpg

We're back on the road to Justice League with Justice League: Doom a 2012 direct-to-video animated superhero film which is loosely based on the JLA: Tower of Babel storyline written by Mark Waid back in 2000 and it's also a sequel to Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. The film is directed by Lauren Montgomery and written by Dwayne McDuffie(who sadly passed away on Feb 21,2011 shortly after writing this film). It's produced by Warner Premiere, DC Comics, and Warner Animation and distributed by Warner Home Video.

The story is someone has stolen confidential files from Batman which contains not only the identities of each Justice League member but their weaknesses. While our heroes are in danger & Batman tries to save them at the same time the Legion of Doom plot to start a new civilization.

  • Negatives
One of my biggest complaints is some of the death traps more specifically the ones to The Flash/Barry Allen(Michael Rosenbaum) & Green Lantern/Hal Jordan(Nathan Fillion) they have the worst of them. Flash's is a bomb is strapped to his wrist and if he removes it or decreases his speed it will explode killing everyone in a three-mile radius. This death trap doesn't work because we seen this happen to him like what a hundred times he doesn't need Batman's help to get rid of the thing. Also Green Lantern's isn't anything special either basically what happens to him is Star Sapphire/Carol Ferries(Olivia d'Abo) lures Hal into a mining cave she uses Scarecrow's fear gas the cave explodes & Hal thinks he failed and Star Sapphire convinces him he doesn't deserve the ring's power then he renounces his ring & his fate then Batman comes & says it was all a trap. I preferred the traps in the Tower of Babel storyline where Flash is hit with a "vibra-bullet" causing him to have seizures at light speed. Green Lantern's trap is he is rendered blind by his own ring from a post-hypnotic suggestion introduced during a REM phase(rapid eye movement sleep) and his unable to function without his vision to guide his ring's power. Those traps are far more superior to the ones in this film.

My other complaint is the ending. I don't really like it because Batman walks off triumphantly even though he almost got the Justice League killed. In the comic Batman leaves the Justice League in shame for what he's done again this is far more impactful then what the movie gives us.

  • Mix

I have nothing to say let's move on.

  • Positives
Now that I'm done being a negative Nancy it's time to talk about the all the good things in this film. One thing I love in this film is the voice work. Everyone does a great job voicing these characters especially Tim Daly as Superman/Clark Kent & Kevin Conroy as Batman/Bruce Wayne although if I'm being honest I didn't really expect anything less from them I mean Kevin is the voice of Batman and Tim is the voice of Superman after all.

Another positive I give the film is the good death traps. I was scared seeing Martian Manhunter/J'onn J'onzz(Carl Lumbly) bust into flames because all I wanted to do was see him get of that horrifying situation. Also while Superman's death trap isn't special it was hard for me to see him get shot by a kryptonite bullet and then fall from the roof of the Daily Bungle all the way down to the streets of Metropolis as a Superman fan that was brutal to see but it was satisfying to see both these men get out of this.

One other thing the movie does right is the writing Dwayne McDuffie shows that he his a good writer which just makes it even more sad that he passed away. One of my favorite lines is when Bane ambushes Bruce at his parent's graves he says "When we fought before, I broke the bat. Today, I break the man". That line was so awesome to hear.

My other nice thing to say about this movie is the animation once again DC does a good job with there direct-to-video animation I also liked the designs of the characters much like I did with Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.

My final positive to give this movie is how intimidating they made the villains. Even though they are beaten at the end of the movie it was pretty badass to see what kind of depths they are willing to go to defeat their enemies.

Justice League: Doom while it has it's problems I still liked the movie you should check out. While I didn't like some of traps for some of the Leaguers & I don't like how Batman could walk off with his head held high I still liked the voice acting, the writing, the animation, and how much of a threat they made the bad guys.

My final rating for this movie is Okay.

I hoped you enjoyed this review because for my next post I'll be explaining some of the differences between this move and the Tower of Babel story arc. I'll also be having reviews for The Fate of the Furious & a look back at Guardians of the Galaxy what with the sequel coming out next month but like I said in Lost Films- Spider-Man 4 some of these plans could change because I'll be house sitting for my Grandpa so I'll be staying away from my laptop for quite some time.

Lost Films - Spider-Man 4

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some details. So take this post with a gain of salt.

Image result for spider-man 4 poster"

Before Sony decided to reboot the Spider-Man franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man and then give Marvel Spider-Man to put him in their cinematic universe we were going to have a fourth sequel to Raimi's Spider-Man film series which would have been released in May 6,2011 but what happened?

Part One - Planning

Even through Spider-Man 3 got mixed reviews at best the film did do well financial grossing $890.9 million dollars on a budget of $ 258 million dollars so plans for Spider-Man 4 were a go they even through of doing a Spider-Man 5 and Spider-Man 6. In 2007 the film entered development with Sam Raimi hired once again to direct and Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and other cast members were also going to reprise their roles. Sony then had the idea to shoot both the fourth and fifth film concurrently however Raimi stated back in March of 2009 that only the fourth film was under development at the time & that if there were a fifth and sixth films those two films would actually be a continuation of each other. In October 2007 James Vanderbilt was hired to pen the screenplay there were also reports that in early 2007 Sony Pictures contacted David Koepp(the writer of the first film). The script was then rewritten by Pulitzer-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire in November 2008 and it was then rewritten again only this time by Gray Ross in October 2009. Sony also wanted James Vanderbilt to write scripts for Spider-Man 5 and Spider-Man 6.

Part Two - Villains

Before we get into what the villains' plot was let's talk about this. Sam Raimi expressed interest in portraying the transformation of Dr. Curt Connors into his alter-ego The Lizard, a villain who was being teased since Spider-Man 2 both actor Dylan Baker(the man who plays Dr. Curt Connors) and producer Grant Curtis were very enthusiastic about the idea. By December 2009 John Malkovich was in talks to play the Vulture and Anne Hathaway would play Felicia Hardy their was a rumor that she wouldn't be the sexy Black Cat but the Vulturess? Some online sources said the plot would have been "the film would have had the Vulture buying out the Daily Bungle forcing Spider-Man/Peter Parker to kill him. Then the Vulture's daughter Felicia would have had an affair with Peter Parker in order to shatter his relationship with Mary Jane. None of this was every confirmed through. Then in 2013 Sam Raimi said in an interview that Anne Hathaway was going to play the Black Cat had Spider-Man 4 been made. Even though the film isn't made it's still a good thing that we would get Felicia Hardy being the Black Cat and not the Vulturess because that idea would have been stupid.

Part Three - Planned Cast

Now this is was supposedly going to be the cast.

Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane-Watson

John Malkovich as Adrian Toomes/Vulture

Anne Hathaway as Felicia Hardy/Vulturess Black Cat

Dylan Parker as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard

Rosemary Harris as Aunt May

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson

Bill Nunn as Joseph "Robbie" Robertson

Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant

Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacey

James Cromwell as Captain George Stacey

Mageina Tovah as Ursula Ditkovich

Elya Baskin as Dr. Ditkovich

Sam Raimi also wanted to upgrade Bruce Campbell's role from mere cameos to a more significant role.

Part Four - Downfall

In January 2010 Sony Pictures announced that plans for Spider-Man 4 had been cancelled due to Sam Raimi's withdrawal from the project. Raimi ended the project because he didn't think he could meet the planned deadline which would have been May 6,2011. It also didn't help that Raimi went through four different scripts by four different screenwriters and still "hated it".

Part Five - Raimi's thoughts on the film

During an interview back in 2013 Raimi had this to say about the film. "It really was the most amicable and undramatic of breakups: It was simply that we had a deadline and I couldn’t get the story to work on a level that I wanted it to work", he said of his split with Sony Pictures. "I was very unhappy with Spider-Man 3, and I wanted to make Spider-Man 4 to end on a very high note, the best Spider-Man of them all. But I couldn’t get the script together in time, due to my own failings, and I said to Sony, ‘I don’t want to make a movie that is less than great, so I think we shouldn’t make this picture. Go ahead with your reboot, which you’ve been planning anyway’". He continued, "[Sony co-chairman] Amy Pascal said, "Thank you. Thank you for not wasting the studio’s money, and I appreciate your candor." So we left on the best of terms, both of us trying to do the best thing for fans, the good name of Spider-Man, and Sony Studios."

Part Six - Storyboards

On Jun 1, 2016 I went to the website Spider-Man Crawlspace where they had confirmed storyboards for Spider-Man 4 here's a link http://www.spidermancrawlspace.com/2016/06/01/spider-man-4-storyboards/

Part Seven - Life and Spider-Man 3's B-roll footage

Related image

Note: I will be spoiling the film Life. You have been warned.

Now Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series doesn't end just yet because in March 2017 it was revealed that stock footage for the 2017 film Life used B-roll footage from Spider-Man 3. This led to some fan theories that Life was secretly an origin story for the symbiote that was featured in Spider-Man 3. The theory be came more popular by the announcement of a Venom film for the following year. Now in the film their aren't any references to Venom but the film does end with Calvin the "life" of the film transforming into a black-goo substance and it then encases David(Jake Gyllenhaal). The writers of the film Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had previously written a Venom script. They also revealed that both they and the studio had interest of making Life a prequel to Venom. However the ending to Life says that's not the case because the film ends with David incased in the black-goo and then lands near two Vietnamese fishermen but in Spider-Man 3 the symbiote lands in Central Park where Peter & Mary Jane are having a date. So yeah Life is in no way a prequel to Venom it's just an original story with no connection to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series.

So there you have guys now that I got this out of the way I'm going to discuss my other plans one thing that's going to happen is my review for Justice League: Doom but after I review it I'll also tell you how it's very different from the story it's based which be would JLA: Tower of Babel. I'll also be have a look back at Guardians of the Galaxy what with the sequel arriving next month so excited for that movie. I might also review The Fate of The Furious but some of these plans could change because I'll be house sitting for my Grandpa so I won't be on my laptop as much either way I got big plans for April.

Road to Spider-Man: Homecoming- Spider-Man 3 Review

Note: This review contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Image result for spider-man 3 poster

Spider-Man 3 is a 2007 superhero film directed by Sam Raimi and written by Sam Raimi, his older brother Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent. It's produced by Marvel Studios(before the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Laura Ziskin Productions and distributed by Columbia Pictures.

The story is it's been three years since Spider-Man 2(2004) and Spider-Man is now New York City's favorite hero and everything seems great for Peter Parker but then new villains have come to take on Spider-Man and a mysterious black substance has gotten on Peter and is changing him for the worse.

One thing that I think everybody can agree is Venom/Eddie Brock's(Topher Grace) lack of screen time. He was definitely not thought of that much when the script was written. I can only remember three scenes with him and that was when he was introduced, when we as fired from the Daily Bungle, and then Venom. So Eddie Brock really needed more screen time for people to get invested with his character and his arc.

Another problem this film has is the unnecessary love triangle between Mary Jane-Watson(Kristen Dunst), Gwen Stacey(Bryce Dallas Howard), and Peter Parker(Tobey Maguire) it really didn't need to happen if they have kept it to Peter and Gwen just being friends and Peter & Mary Jane being a couple that would have be fine or just cut Gwen completely out of the film and saved her from the next that also would have been a good idea but no the studio told Raimi to put her in so we got stuck with her.

There was also the storyline between Peter Parker and Harry Osborn(James Franco) that was being hyped up since the first Spider-Man film because Harry blames Spider-Man for his dad's death. It was they were going to fight each other as their respected identities it was going to be Spider-Man vs. the new Green Goblin but one bump on the head with Harry and it's scrapped for a large majority of the film. Then the rivalry comes back into the fray when Peter gets his black suit and then after Harry's butler tells him the truth about his father's death Harry forgives him and then they  team-up against Venom and the Sandman.

The film also has a problem with continuing Uncle Ben's death by throwing a twist which is it wasn't the carjacker from the first film it was Flint Marko(Thomas Haden Church) aka the Sandman. My problem with this is it's been talked about in the previous two films they shouldn't have made it the Sandman who killed Ben and not brought up Ben's death...again.

Then there was emo Peter. What the hell was that all about I mean the symbiote made him a darker version of himself but it didn't make him an emo. Seriously what the hell?!

  • Mix
I got nothing to say here let's move on.

  • Positives
Now there's not say there isn't anything good in this film cause there is something nice to say about the movie. One good thing to say is the designs for both the Spidey's red and blue suit is still a good design and I like the black suit as well sure it's just red and blue but with slight design changes such as the way the spider looks a little bit different but I still liked the look.

Also this movie wanted us to feel bad for the Sandman and I did feel for the guy. I mean his was daughter was sick and all he wanted to do was find a way to make her health again no matter what it takes. I think parents and the audience can understand where he's coming from.

Another thing I give the film credit for is all the fight scenes. Whether it was Spider-Man vs. Sandman, Peter Parker vs. Harry Osborn, or Spider-Man & Goblin vs. Venom and Sandman. All the fights were done very well by Sam Raimi so thumbs up for that.

One other good thing about this film were the performances. Yet again this film series proves the actors can still do a good job playing their characters.

I also liked how they handled Harry's death. It was sad for me to see this character that I knew since 2002 to die. This entire scene was played very well and felt sorry for his friends because well they lost their friend.

Spider-Man 3 didn't give Venom enough screen time, had an unnecessary love triangle, and I hated how they very quickly ended the rivalry between Harry and Peter. I also didn't like we yet again are told about Ben's death and emo Peter again what the hell?! but I also did like the black suit, the action scenes, and the performances are still good, and I was also very sad to see Harry die.

It's very hard for me to rate this film because if I give it a bad, awful, or my lowest rating destroy it I'll be following every other critics opinion on this movie but if I give it an okay then people might claim I'm being a "Raimi-fanboy" but screw it my final rating for this movie is Okay and if you disagree with him then alright that's fine you have you're opinion on Spider-Man 3 and I have mine.

P.S. I'm not done talking about Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series just yet because next time I'll be talking the cancelled sequel Spider-Man 4 in my segment Lost Films.

The Boss Baby Review

The Boss Baby is an 3D computer-animated comedy film that is loosely based on the 2010 children's book of the same name written and illustrated by Marla Frazee. It's produced by DreamWorks Animation and the film is directed by Tom McGrath and written by Michael McCullers.

The story is a suit-wearing baby named The Boss Baby(Alec Baldwin) is adopted by the Templeton family everything seems normal but really he's undercover in a war between babies and puppies. So he teams up with his older Tim(Miles Christopher Bakshi) to help him out in this war.

  • Negatives

My only real complaint is it's very difficult to figure out if Tim's imagining this entire story because there are scenes where something happens but then there's another scene that says otherwise.

  • Mix
One thing that this movie is in a grey area is the humor. Sometimes jokes work other times not so much. Now I'm not saying some jokes down right suck what I'm saying is some jokes where meant for kids others were meant for adults. So when there's a joke that's meant for a kid an adult isn't going to laugh and when a joke is meant for an adult the kids are probably going to be confused.

  • Positives

There is an aspect to this movie that I really liked and that was Tim's fear that he wasn't going to be loved anymore because of the arrival of a baby sibling. I think anybody who has been in that situation can relate.

Alec Baldwin does an excellent job playing The Boss Baby. Another actor who deserves credit is Miles Christopher Baskshi he did a great job playing the older brother Tim.

My finally praise to this movie is it's animation. DreamWorks continues to show that they do great 3D animation. They also do a great job at making Tim's imagination sequence different compared to everything else by giving it an old school 60's or 70's look.

The Boss Baby has gorgeous animation, great performances mainly from the two main stars, and that feeling that you think your parents might not love because of a new sibling but that won't be the case. The humor isn't bad it's just some jokes are meant for kids and others are for adults. The only real bad thing is some scenes make you question other scenes.

My final rating for this movie is Okay.
