A Look Back at The Umbrella Academy - Season 1

雨傘學院】Sir Reginald極有可能未死?分析首季結局最大疑團!|香港01 ...

With Season 2 of this show arriving shortly I once again decide to review the first season. So let's begin.

The Umbrella Academy is a comic book web show based on the Dark Horse Comics' series of the same name. The series is produced by Dark Horse Entertainment, Borderline Entertainment, and Universal Cable Productions and distributed by Netflix. The show was developed by Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater.

The story is seven children with unique abilities were adopted by billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves and turned into the superhero team called The Umbrella Academy. After the siblings visited their fathers funeral, one of the children (Number Five) has returned from the future and tells his family that a global apocalypse is coming. Now this family must stop this crisis all while finding the secrets to their past.

  • Negatives

My only issue with the show is the pacing. There's quite a few times when things would just slow down or come to a halt and you're waiting for everything to pick back up again.

  • Mix

The only grey area is while the stories are good and written well, a lot of them should've been either cut or saved for the next season. Because first we have the Apocalypse storyline, then the mysterious death of the characters' father. Perfect because later we realize those stories go hand-in-hand with each other. And then we have side stories with the siblings, which is also fine because we need to see just how messed up they are. But then we get stories that didn't need to be there and like I said before either be cut or saved for next time.

  • Positives

Now for the more positives things about The Umbrella Academy let's start off with the acting. All I gotta say is the cast was great. They did a great job playing these characters and whatever baggage they have whether it be emotional or physical. They work well off each other or if there's no dialogue what so ever they nail with the body language or facial expressions.

Another thing to give the show praise for is the humor. I wasn't expecting have a good laugh while watching a show about superheroes trying to stop the apocalypse. And what was best about the humor is it came at necessary times, there wasn't time when it clashed or ruined a perfectly good dark and/or dramatic moment.

What I also loved about the show was the special effects. Now I wasn't expecting anything terrible because Netflix really does try to give their shows the best they can provide for them, but when I saw something like say Pogo (the talking monkey friend) to look that good it blew my mind. I mean the CGI on that character can rival the CGI for the Planet of the Apes movies.

The final thing to praise The Umbrella Academy for was that cliffhanger of an ending. That ending really had me on edge and it also did it's job of getting me hyped for the next season.

The Umbrella Academy has an issue with pacing and while the overall story is good they're were some stories I could've done without, but I think those issues can be forgiven with the show's strengths. Those being the cast, the humor, the special effects, and the cliffhanger.

My final rating is Great

Okay I'm all done here. Due come back on Thursday, Aug 6th for my review of Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Looking Back at the Films of 2019 Part 6 - Midsommar/Crawl/Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

That's right, I'm back with another installment of Looking Back at the Films of 2019. And today's movies are Midsommar, Crawl, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Let's get reviewing.

Why Didn't I See Midsommar?

The reason I didn't see Midsommar is because there was no showings in my area. Which I was bummed because when reviews starting coming out and the people I follow on Twitter were giving their thoughts it really felt like I missed out on something special.

What is Midsommar?

Midsommar is a folk horror movie. The film is produced by Square Beg and B-Reel Films and distributed by A24. Midsommar was written and directed by Ari Aster. The story is a group of people travel to Sweden for a midsummer celebration that only happens once every 90 years. Everything seems to start out fine but then they soon discover that this celebration isn't what it seems to be.

My Thoughts

The Good: One thing I will give the movie credit for is it has a very unsettling feeling to it. Everything about the movie with the shots and the setting, everything really makes your skin crawl and your nerves twitch. Another thing that the movie did a good job was our main character Dani going through a disturbing change in character. We really see her turn into something that's the complete opposite of what she was in the beginning of the movie and not in a good way. The final thing I give the Midsommar credit for is the cult in this movie are really good villains. Not only because that do some violent things but because they also took advantage of Dani emotional/mental state, the reason I give praise to that is because it's a very realistic thing a cult would do, which makes those unsettling moments even more impactful.

The Bad: Now despite praise there are TWO big things that really brought the movie down for me and one those were our characters are so stupid! During the first couple of days with the cult they see two elders kill themselves by jumping off a cliff onto a boulder, one of which got their head bashed in with a huge mallet and then after one BS excuse from the members, THEY STILL STAY! Nobody would have stayed after that, explanation from one of the cultist or not. And then when people start disappearing...they still stay! I'll give Dani a slide because she's going through somethings but everybody else is just an idiot. Another aspect of Midsommar that makes the quality drop is that it's pretentious and long-winded. It's long-winded because there are moments that felt like they went on for way too long. And what made it pretentious was there were shots and odd stuff with the editing where it felt like it was the director trying to impress us or make things have more importance to it than it actually has.

The Meh: The okay portion of the movie is the acting. Florence Pugh's performance is amazing. She really nails it with the character of Dani. Everyone else felt just good. Nothing that's going to blown me out of the water just good.

Final Verdict: Bad

Why Didn't I See Crawl?

My reason is the same Midsommar, wasn't any showings. Only this one really bummed me out because it was produced by Sam Raimi. I love his body of work, from his work on the Evil Dead series to his more famous Spider-Man trilogy. And Drag Me to Hell and Oz the Great and Powerful were also fun watches.

What is Crawl?

Crawl is a disaster horror film. The movie is produced by Raimi Productions and Fire Axe Pictures and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Crawl was written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen and directed by Alexandre Aja. The story is after a devastating Category 5 hurricane hits a Florida, Haley and her father Dave go to a crawl space to wait for rescue. However unfortunately for them some very hungry alligators have also come to their house.

My Thoughts

The Good: Now I was probably in the majority when I viewed this as a Jaws rip-off, so I was expecting something boring because of that, but no. This movie had a really fun and exciting vibe to it. Speaking of which and this is another credit to the movie, I was also surprised how this movie had a lot of suspense to it. I was expecting a jump scarefest and while there are quite a bit in there for the most part Crawl had some actually nail baiting scenes in it. The final thing I'll give the movie credit for is it's runtime is short and sweet. Once again going back to me thinking this was going to be a Jaws knockoff I was expecting it to be unnecessarily long but no it goes by really quick, I was surprised by the time I was done watching it it was only 10:00pm. So thank you to the filmmakers for making this a film with a short and yet still effective runtime.

The Bad: I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

The Meh: One grey area with Crawl is the CGI. It's noticable but at the same time the alligators look real enough, although I do admit it really shines with how the storm clouds looked. That was cool. Another passable thing with the film is character development. It's pretty good but I did feel as though there were moments where it felt like we've been here before.

Final Verdict: Good

Why Didn't I See Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

Now this is going to be embarrassing but the general reason why I didn't see this movie was...because...I...forgot. Yes, I somehow forgot about a Quentin Tarantino movie! I am very ashamed okay (🤣)!

What is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (or as it's stylized Once Upon a Time in...Hollywood) is a comedy-drama. The movie is produced by Columbia Pictures, Bona Film Group, Heyday Films, and Visiona Romantica and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The story is it's 1969 Los Angeles and film star Rick Dalton and his stuntman Cliff Booth are trying to navigate through a change that's coming to the film industry. Also during this time in their lives, Cliff meets an interesting woman who has a connection to the Manson family.

My Thoughts

The Good: One thing that made Once Upon a Time in Hollywood a great movie is the performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. All three of them we're really great in this, but mostly DiCaprio and Pitt. They really worked well off each other and each scene with them whether they're together or alone was amazing. What also made the movie a blast was the cinematography. It was handled greatly and was gorgeous. Another piece of the film I loved the overall design. From clothing to whatever the characters are watching to the cars to how the sets looked, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood really makes you believe that we're back in the 1960s. I also enjoyed the humor. There are a lot of good jokes in this, I think my favorite might be when Rick Dalton was having a meltdown because he couldn't remember his lines. That was pretty funny. The final thing I'll praise the film for is Rick and Cliff's story, it really was an interesting tale about how they're both going through this change in their lives differently. Rick still wants to be the leading man but this time he really has to fight for it and it also makes him sad because now he feels like he's not as good as he once was. Cliff on the other hand has come to terms with it. Because to him and as he said "he didn't have much of a career to talk about." So it was very interesting to how the two were dealing with this problem in two different ways.

The Bad: I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

The Meh: Now there is one portion of the movie that kind of slows down and drags, it bothered me but not as much as I think it would looking back on it. So it can almost be forgiven.

Final Verdict: Great

Alright, that's all for me. Come back on Thursday, Jul 30th for my Look Back at review for season one of The Umbrella Academy. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Differences Between Batman: Hush (Movie) and Batman: Hush (Comic)

Image gallery for Batman: Hush - FilmAffinityBatman: Hush Animated Movie Leads DC Animation's 2019 Slate |

Hey everyone it's yet another edition of Differences Between. And this time I tackle both the animated movie Batman: Hush and the comic book story arc it was inspired by also titled Batman: Hush. So let's begin.

Jim Lee's Killer Croc! | Mars Will Send No More

One change the movie made was the first villain Batman had a fight with is Killer Croc. In the movie however it was Bane who kidnapped the kid and demanded money and was under control.

Batman vs Bane. Lady Shiva Appears. Batman Hush Movie clip - YouTube

Another noble difference between the two is who told Batman about the outsider who used the Lazarus Pit. In the comic it was Ra's Al Ghul but in the movie it's Lady Shiva. Which is one of the changes that makes since because in the DC Animated Movie Universe, Ra's died in Son of Batman.

Batgirl in "Batman: Hush" animated film. | Dc comics batgirl ...

In the Batman: Hush movie Batgirl plays a part in the story, in the comic she's nowhere to been seen nor do I ever remember her being mentioned.

Batman Hush - Huntress | Huntress, Comics

Speaking of characters that don't appear we also have Huntress. She's very much involved in the comic story arc but in the movie she's not seen and it's even referenced.

Batman: Hush - The New Bat Suit Clip - YouTube

Another key difference with the two is Batman's suit. In the movie the reason why he's wearing it is because it provides more head protection since he'll need it after the nasty fall he took. In the comic he has always had that suit.

Batman: Hush - All 23 Changes The Movie Makes From The Comic

Now it's time to discuss why Bruce Wayne goes to Metropolis, more specifically the Daily Planet. In the storyline Bruce doesn't need to give any reason as to why he's there since around the time Hush was published he owned the Planet. In the movie he arranged in interview with Lois Lane, which in it's self is just Bruce's way to tell Clark Kent/Superman that not only will he be doing some detective work on his turf but to also tell him to not get involved.

Batman – Hush | Batman hush, Batman, Batman detective comics

Still talking about Metropolis there's also who Batman talks to in LexCorp since Poison Ivy needs a specific chemical for her plants to travel from city to city. In the comic it was Talia Al Ghul was running LexCorp because Lex Luthor was president of the United States around this time. In the movie it was Lex Luthor himself.

Kryptonite Ring | Batman Wiki | Fandom
Kryptonite | DC Animated Movie Universe Wiki | Fandom

The other key differences between the two is Batman's weapon against a mind controlled Superman. In the comic storyline Hush it's a simple kryptonite ring but in the movie Hush it's brass knuckles with kryptonite spikes.

Krypto and Catwoman by Jim Lee : Krypto

Another character that was cut from the movie is Krypto the Superdog. He's appear has brief in the comic story arc but there's no trace of him in the animated movie.

Thomas Elliot (New Earth) | DC Database | Fandom

Another difference with the comic storyline Hush and the animated movie Hush is when exactly Batman learns of Hush's name. He learns much earlier in the movie as suppose to the comic where he learns his name near the end.

Pin on batman

Harley Quinn also has a slight change in the two stories although both are part of Hush's plan. Her reason in the comic was it would give her the chance to work with the Joker, because around this time she was trying to win him back. In the movie their already in a relationship and Harley wants to save Joker because Hush is holding him hostage.

Batman vs Joker fight | Batman: Hush (2019) - YouTube

There was also a difference between the Batman and Joker fight. In both cases Batman thinks Joker killed his friend Tommy Elliot which would send Batman into a rage that almost kills the Joker. In the comic he takes Commissioner Gordon convincing Batman not to go through with killing the Clown Prince of Crime. In the movie Batman stops himself from killing the Joker.

The Joker. #joker #Batman #art | Joker comic, Batman hush, Joker ...

Let's continue talking about Joker shall we? His reasons for being part of the stories are quite different. In the Hush comic storyline Joker is a willing participant but in the movie he escaped from Hush's prison and is very confused by Elliot's death.

Catwoman - Nightwing Vs Scarecrow | Batman: Hush (2019) - YouTube

In both stories our heroes come face-to-face with Scarecrow. The difference is who's fighting Scarecrow and who gets the fear toxin, in the comic it was Catwoman and Huntress and then Huntress would get hit with the fear toxin which would result in her fighting Catwoman. In the movie it was Catwoman and Nightwing and Nightwing would get hit with the fear gas, and fight Catwoman.

Your favorite jason pic - Jason Todd | Superhero graphic, Comics ...

Jason Todd or someone that's supposedly him would also make an appearance in the comic book version of Hush. But in the animated Hush he doesn't make any appearance nor is he mentioned. Which as a Jason Todd fan is one of the changes that bummed me out.

Batman vs Clayface | Batman: Hush - YouTube

Clayface's involvement was also very different. In the comic storyline he poses as Jason Todd because it was part of Hush's plan to psychological break down Batman. In the movie he's mind controlled by Riddler to pose as him and when he's finally freed from the mind control he wants to get his anger out by fighting someone, which if you're Batman is not a good thing.

Batman Hush Review: An Improved Adaptation of a Classic Tale – /Film

Throughout both stories we see Batman and Catwoman have a relationship but by the end they break up, the reasons being completely different. The reason for the break up in the comic was Batman didn't know if he could trust Catwoman given how everything went down with his loved ones after Batman found out who Hush really is. In the animated film Catwoman breaks up with him because while she loves his nobility she doesn't want to see him die all because he doesn't want to break his no kill code.

There are also many other changes between the two that I didn't mention. But if you're curious about them I suggest you read the Batman: Hush story arc and then watch the Batman: Hush movie. Anyways that's going to do it for me, come back on Monday, Jul 27th for my Looking Back at the Films of 2019 - Part 6 for my reviews of Midsommar, Crawl, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Greyhound Review

www.gstatic.com/tv/thumb/v22vodart/15987804/p15...

Greyhound is a war drama movie based on the 1955 novel The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester. The movie is produced by Columbia Pictures, Stage 6 Films, Bron Creative, Zhengfu Pictures, Sycamore Pictures, FilmNation Entertainment, and Playtone and distributed by Apple TV+. Greyhound is written by Tom Hanks and directed by Aaron Schneider.

The story is Commander Ernest Krause has finally be given his chance to command a destroyer. He's given a big task on his first day, cross the North Atlantic trench and try to survive a wolfpack on German U-boats. While this is happening Krause must also fight his own self doubts and personal demons.

Initial Reaction

Truth be told I almost didn't even see this movie. I only discovered it like I think two maybe three weeks ago, either way when I really started watching the trailer and got even more excited that Tom Hanks was going to start in it, I made it a priority to watch then review it.

Cons

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

Middle Ground

To many people it was probably really awesome that this movie was only 90 minutes long. Because that meant they could just sit down, press play, watch it, and next thing they knew it was over. But for me while I didn't have that much of an issue with the runtime I still think it should have been longer. I don't know something was really telling me in my head while I was watching the movie that it should have been longer even though I was enjoying the 90 minutes from beginning, middle, to end. Another mix bag with Greyhound is characterization. While we do get quite a bit of character and/or character development there still could have been more to these people. So while the characters aren't bad there still could've been more to them, it's serviceable.

Pros

One thing I thought the movie did well at was showing the horrors of war. The film doesn't have a R rating but they do things in this to give you an idea of what it was like during this time. Those echoed screams were very haunting. Another I think you'll enjoy about Greyhound is the action. Anytime this characters had to get ready to fight it was really exciting. In matter of fact whenever there was an action scene going on I found my eyes glued to the screen. The final thing I'll give the movie credit for is Tom Hanks' performance. Even when he says or does nothing you can just tell what he was feeling during that scene or scenes.

Greyhound is a enjoyable watch. It showcases the horrors of war without having to get too gruesome, fun action scenes, and a good performance from Tom Hanks. The grey areas are the runtime and the characters.

My final rating is Okay

So that's going to do it for me. Come back on Thursday, Jul 16th for a brand new Difference Between. And this time I'll tackle the movie and the comic storyline Batman: Hush. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

The Old Guard Review

The Old Guard is a comic book movie based on the comic of the same name. The movie is produced by Skydance Media and Denver and Delilah Productions and distributed by Netflix. The Old Guard is written by Greg Rucka and directed by Gian Prince-Bythewood.

The story is a pack of mercenaries who can not only heal from wounds but are also centuries old. This is soon discovered by a mysterious threat, this threat wants to capture them, find the secrets to their abilities, and then use them for their own purposes. Now this immortal warriors must fight for their freedom.

Initial Reaction

Truth be told I wasn't all that excited for this movie. Mainly because the last time Netflix made a movie about a comic book it was The Last Days of American Crime and that was such a letdown. But, I prefer to judge a movie's final product instead of basing my judgment on a past experience or other things I hate that modern critics do today. So with a sense of optimism I was going to give it a chance.

Cons

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

Middle Ground

One thing that could've had more work done is the character development for the other characters. We get lots with Andy and Nile but very little with Booker, Joe, and Nicky. There development felt sort of like a blink and you'll miss it. Now since this is an adaptation of a comic it's only natural that things get changed. I didn't mind a large majority of the changes. My only real complaint is how the bad guy looked, cause in the comic while he wasn't this big muscular beast he also didn't look like your average school science teacher.

Pros

One aspect of The Old Guard I liked was the chemistry with the cast. Everyone really worked well with each other, whether the scene was something serious or a more light hearted moment. What I also liked about the movie was the action. Now I'll admit none of it felt mind blowing but it was a lot of fun to watch. The final thing I'll praise about The Old Guard is the why. I really liked how nobody can explain why them specifically were chosen, the time limit to their immortality, and every other question about their special ability. It really made for a good mystery.

The Old Guard is an action movie I think is worth checking out. The cast's chemistry was good, the action was a blast, and the mystery surrounding the immortality was quite interesting. The mix bag is character development and some changes here and there.

My final rating is Good

So that's all for me. Due come back on Monday, July 13th for my review of Apple TV+'s Greyhound starring Tom Hanks. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

A Look Back at Regular Show

Regular Show Poster Print - Walmart.com - Walmart.com

So I don't know if any of you know this, but the creator of this show (J.G. Quintel) has a new show coming in three days to HBO Max called Close Enough. And having been a fan of this show I thought it would be fun to review Regular Show before Close Enough comes out. So let's begin.

Regular Show is an animated comedy series that premiered on Cartoon Network on Sept 6th, 2010 and ended on Jan 16th, 2017. Giving the show eight seasons and 261 episodes. Regular Show was produced by Cartoon Network Studios and distributed by Warner Bros. Television Distribution. The show was created by J.G. Quintel.

The series revolves around a blue jay named Mordecai and a racoon named Rigby working at a local park. Nine times out of ten their adventures start off simple enough but soon dive into something ranging from surreal to supernatural. So when that happens they have to clean it up or get fired.

  • Negatives

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Mix

One grey area with the cartoon is the writing. While in my opinion you do get a lot of good episodes you also sadly get some bad ones. Which is the case for every show unfortunately. Sometimes episodes have a rushed pace, the humor didn't work, or the characters are written out of character. But I feel like that can be forgiven because often times the really good episodes overshadow those bad ones.

  • Positive

One element that made Regular Show enjoyable was the characters. You can tell each of them apart, they're given good development, their chance to shine, and they're very relatable. My favorite is Rigby by the way.

Another thing I liked about the show was just how quickly things would escalate. Because you'd think everything would just be normal then out of nowhere things take a surreal turn. It really made for some good entertainment.

What I also came to like about Regular Show was the animation. I thought it was really well executed and also enjoyed. It was especially fun because often times it gets crazy, disturbing, and trippy.

Regular Show is definitely one of my favorite cartoons. It has wonder/likable characters who get to see grow, escalation of events was entertaining, and the animation is good. And while the writing wasn't always that great it can be forgiven once a lot of really good episodes followed through.

My final rating is Great

Okay so that's all for me today. Come back on Saturday, Jul 11th for my review of Netflix's The Old Guard. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Cinematic Disasters - Epic Movie

Well...I said in my review for Date Movie that I would review the other Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer movies...so here we are.

Epic Movie is a 2007 parody movie. The movie was produced by Regency Enterprises and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Epic Movie was written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer.

The story is four adult orphans have won golden tickets to the most magical chocolate factory is the world. Things don't go as planned and the four orphans escape into a magically wardobe and are transported to a mystical land where they must take a stand against the evil White Bitch.

My Thoughts

So our movie starts off with a "parody" of The Da Vinci Code. And our first joke is since Lucy (one of our four main characters) is as dumb as a brick The Curator has to...break dance in order to give her her clue. How does break dancing give an idea of what the clue is? So after that she finds her golden ticket. Oh and also in this scene she was being chased by the parody version of Silas played by Kevin Hart. Yes, THAT Kevin Hart.

Then we cut to our next orphan Edward played by Kal Penn. Who I have no idea why he's even in this movie, I mean before he was in this he was in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. So he should know what a good comedy movie is and what I bad comedy movie is. Anyway other than him getting his golden ticket this whole thing is just a set up for quite possibly the worst joke you could make about Nacho Libre.

Also this joke doesn't work for three reasons.

1) It goes on for way too long.

2) That scene just felt like it was there for the product placement.

3) Now this is the biggest one, but you can't make a parody out of a comedy movie! It's already making fun of itself so making a spoof of it already doesn't make any sense, it fall flat on it's face.

Then we transition to another one of our characters (Susan) on her plane ride to meet her new adoptive parents (by the way why is she getting adopted? She's like 24) and guess what? Now we're in "parody" of Snakes on a Plane! And the joke is the main hero of that movie is always saying the iconic "I've had it with these motherfuckin snakes on this motherfuckin plane" three times in a row. Then she's throw off the plane and lands on Paris Hilton. Was Paris Hilton even still relevant enough to be made fun of when this movie first came out? Also she steals the now dead Paris Hilton's golden ticket. Yep, one of heroes stole from a dead woman.

Then OH MY GOD! NOW WE'RE IN A PARODY OF X-MEN! Jesus, we're only 8 minutes and 34 seconds into this and we've already made fun of four different movies! Anyhow it's the same shtick as the last ones. Main character interacts with the parody versions of the thing the writers are making fun of, we have jokes that don't work, and then said character gets their golden ticket. Good news is the formula is finally over, bad news is we still have more movie to go through.

So we're finally at our "parody" of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There are two problems with this,

1) Epic Movie came out in 2007, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came out in 2005. So the writers are making fun of something that's outdated.

2) This whole sequence is painfully unfunny. It's just Willy Wonka and Oompa-Loompas either torturing or murdering our main heroes. That's not a joke of any sorts, it's just our characters getting killed. Sure dark comedy is great but only if it's done right and this movie is not doing right.

Later our group of characters are being held captive (oh and all the injuries or body parts they lost are now magically back). So they split up to hide from the demented Wonka and Lucy stumbles upon the wardrobe from The Chronicles of Narnia. And I'll be honest her opening it and a bunch of junk landing on her and then out of nowhere a naked woman appears did get a chuckle out of me. Note that I just chuckle not laughter!

So now she's entered Narnia or Gnarina as the movie has it spelled. Because adding an extra letter to it is funny? Where she meets Mr. Tumnus and then.....just see for yourself.

What does MTV Cribs have to do with Narnia? And much like my question about Paris Hilton was this still even relevant to still be making jokes about it? Cause I don't remember MTV Cribs being really huge back in 2007.

So Tumnus kicks her out of his house but not before giving her a device that tells her everything. Such as why he did the thing he did, the evil White Bitch, what she's done to Gnarina, and Kanye West coming out and saying the White Bitch doesn't care for black people. Okay that last one was really terrible because once again Friedberg and Seltzer are poking fun at something that's outdated. Kanye said that about George W. Bush in 2005 and this was released in 2007! By the end of 2005 this joke about what he said was done to death!

Later Edward meets the White Bitch and she offers him to join her and live with her in her White Castle. This of course means she was referring to the restaurant and because Edward's played by Kal Penn he wonders if he's been there before. I bring this up because it really feels like the movie was telling me to watch a better comedy flick, or maybe that was just my interpretation.

We cut to Peter, Edward, Susan, and Lucy where they discover they're all related to each other and that they're heroes. Especially Peter which gives us a parody of Superman Returns. And this joke could have worked but they ruined it by telling us what they were making fun of in the first place.

Edward later goes to tell the White Bitch about the recent events. She tricks him to tell her everything and then right out of nowhere we're in Punk'd parody....because why not!

Now we're back with Peter, Susan, and Lucy were they go on a journey to start their training. And now we're in a spoof version of Harry Potter because Friedberg and Seltzer can't go for one scene without referencing (not parodying) a popular movie.

So after hatching a plan of escape with Captain Jack Swallows (yes now the writers are trying but failing to parody Pirates of the Caribbean) Edward is now free from his prison. Then we have a rap number. No I'm serious.

I swear this song was only here to pad out the runtime. And maybe shill some product placement but mostly pad out the runtime.

We go back to the rest of the gang, who have finished their training, return to Gnarnia, and....we get a parody of Borat. WHY?! Borat is already a comedy making a spoof out of a comedy doesn't work! Also they completely ripped off the whole Borat's sister is the number four prostitute. And all they did was change one word. Yeah that still makes it a rip off Seltzer and Friedberg, just because you changed it slightly doesn't make it a whole new joke.

So Peter, Lucy, and Susan plan bust Edward out of his prison (he got recaptured previously) so they go to Aslo (the parody of Aslan) for his help. He agrees (but only have having a foursome them first. You may now vomit) and they go off to rescue him. After Edward is rescued Aslo gets into a fight with Silas, and it's not funny. The whole joke is it's not the actors fighting but their stunt doubles. Not only is it not funny but it's also lazy. They used this same joke in their previous movie Date Movie. Then Also is killed by the White Bitch. So now he felt pointless.

Then we have a scenes that are both gross and uncomfortable. Peter and Mystique (Yeah, somehow the X-Men from previously found their way here) go have sex, and like I said it's very uncomfortable because Peter's making some very......interesting request. Kind of makes me wonder about the writers mental status. We also have the gang partying before the big final battle and during this Susan vomits on everybody. It wasn't funny it was gross. And the weird thing is these could have worked, we've seen gross out humor work many times before but since this is coming Friedberg and Seltzer of course it fails.

Now it's the final battle between Peter, Edward, Susan, and Lucy and the White Bitch and her army. It want as well as you'd think and all seems lost until...and I kid you not, Peter finds the remote from Click and they win.

And with that I'm done with this movie.

So that was Epic Movie and it's garbage. The jokes don't work and whatever jokes do work they're ruined within seconds, our characters are moronic or bland or both, there are more references than there is actually humor and overall it just sucks.

My final rating is Destroy It!

Finally I can move on! So do come back on Monday, Jul 6th for my A Look Back at review of Regular Show. Until then enjoy the rest of your day and avoid this movie.
