Taking a Break

Hey everyone. Originally I wasn't going to write anything but I just wanted to keep all of you informed on what's going on around here. I just want to say I'm taking a break for the rest of June. It's just the best thing for me to do because the last thing I want to have is a burn out. I'll be back on July 3rd with a new Cinematic Disaster review for 1936's Reefer Madness. I'm going to have a tons of fun with that one. Also I looked at the stats on my all time pageview history and it's at 1,202. Why did I bring that up? I just want to say thanks for taking time out of your day and reading my reviews, What You Probably Didn't Know About, and Raiders of the Lost Media. I enjoy you guys stopping by. Thank you and your all great.

Road to Spider-Man: Homecoming - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Review

Note: This review contains spoilers. You have been warned.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a 2014 superhero film and the sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. It was also the final installment to The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. It's produced by Marvel Entertainment, Arad Productions Inc., and Matt Tolmach Productions and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The movie was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner and directed by Marc Webb.

The story is a new villain has emerged named Electro and he plans to kill Spider-Man. While Peter is trying to stop Electro he is still trying to figure out the mystery behind his parent's disappearance.

  • Negatives

One thing I don't like about the movie is Green Goblin's design. The armor & glider are fine but it's the makeup on his face that ruins it. He has rotted teeth, crazy hair, and some green stuff on his face. I get they wanted a goblin look but it just doesn't work.

I really didn't like that Electro became Harry's henchmen. I was enjoying that it was Spider-Man vs. Electro. The filmmakers really didn't need to make this another Spider-Man and Green Goblin movie.

The film's biggest problem is storywise it's bloated. There was way too much put into the script. First we deal with the mystery around Peter's parents, then we cut to a storyline involving Harry and that he's dying and Spider-Man's blood could save him, then the film ask where is Peter & Gwen's relationship going? A lot of this should have been cut out and saved for a third movie.

  • Mix
Nothing to say. Moving on.

  • Positives

One thing I absolutely loved was Spider-Man's costume. That is the most accurate Spidey suit I've ever seen come out of any of the Spider-Man movies. It looks like it was pulled right from the comics.

Another big highlight to this film is Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone's chemistry. They do so well together that I don't think it can be topped.

Even though Electro was later down played to be Harry's sidekick I still enjoyed seeing him on screen. I also liked that they made him mentally insane and thinking him & Spider-Man are friends even though their not. It add a nice touch to his character.

Once again the movie kept me interested in the disappearance of Peter's Mom & Dad. I'm so grateful they countined that story arc.

The movie has some very funny moments. My favorite was the opening heist chase. Everything that happened in that scene was pure Spider-Man.

The best dramatic moment was the Death of Gwen Stacey. I was sad to see her go because I really enjoyed her character & Emma Stone's portrayal of her.

Another thing to enjoy from this film is Andrew Garfield's performance. He just nails it playing Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Too bad this was the last time we got to see that.

My final positive to give this movie is the action. Marc Webb did a good job giving us action scenes worth watching. I especially loved the web swinging.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has three big problems story elements that should have been saved for a third movie, making Electro the main villain only to get he's spotlight stolen from Green Goblin, and the design to Green Goblin. The good things are the design to the Spider-Man suit, the chemistry between Garfield & Stone, making an underrated villain like Electro get some of the attention, continuing the mystery of Peter's parents, funny moments, Gwen Stacey's death, and Andrew Garfield's performance, and the action.

When rating this film I find myself in a situation similar to Spider-Man 3. If I hate it then I'm a Raimi - fanboy but If I like it then I'm a fanboy to the movie. I'm going to stick with my overall opinion which is my final rating for this movie is Okay.

So that concludes all Spider-Man reviews. Don't worry I have something planned before Spider-Man: Homecoming is released. Just look at the slightly updated schedule down below.

Differences Between Jurassic Park (movie) & Jurassic Park (novel)

Image result for jurassic park posterImage result for jurassic park book cover

Before we get started with this let me explain my original plan. Originally this was going to be Differences Between Justice League: War and the story it was based on Justice League: Origin while there was some differences between those two I decided I really need do more stuff that it's related to superheroes so I went with Jurassic Park. I picked it because I loved the movie and wanted to tell people how it's different from the book.

We all know the 1993 film Jurassic Park critics & audiences loved the movie and to this day it's still being loved and regarded as an all time classic and one of the best movies ever made. However the movie has made some changes from the novel it was based on. So let's list some them.

Image result for jurassic park grant and sattler

In the movie Grant & Sattler are brought to Jurassic Park because the place needs experts to clarify if the park is safe. In the book their reason for being there is much different. The event that brings them is a series of attacks on small villages in Costa Rica by three-toed dinosaurs that are thought to be a new breed of lizards.

Related image

The movie's way of cloning dinosaurs is their DNA is in fossilized mosquitos cased in amber. The novel's way is their blood was extracted form different kinds of insects mostly from gnats.

Image result for Toyota Land Cruisers 1993

The movie's touring vehicles are Ford Explorers. The book's was Toyota Land Cruisers.

Image result for jurassic park donald gennaro

In Jurassic Park the movie Donald Gennaro dies however in Jurassic Park the book he survives the whole experience.

Image result for jurassic park alan grant

The novel tells us that Alan Grant loves children and that his relationship with Ellie isn't romantic but purely professional. It also tells us that he's a widower. In the movie Alan Grant doesn't like kids and later on the franchise states he had a relationship with Ellie. The movie also doesn't tell us if was married prior to going to Jurassic Park.

Image result for jurassic park ending

The endings to both the movie and book are drastically different from each other. In the movie the remaining survivors escape in a helicopter from the T-Rex. In the book the survivors arrive at the helipad and their informed that the Costa Rican air force are going to napalm the island killing the remaining dinosaurs.

Image result for jurassic park raptor

The movie cuts out an entire raptor scene from the book. In the book there's an intense moment where the scientist are on tour and the power goes off and they watch a maintenance ship leave the island but they notice that there's raptors on it. That turns into a race to try to get the power back on in order to call the ship back.

Image result for jurassic park john hammond

Another character's personality that was changed from the book is John Hammond. In the movie he cares about the well being of others and just wanted people to see the wonders of dinosaurs. In the novel however all he cares about is money, could care less about other people and when things go wrong in the park he is in denial and is very much a coward. Even his fate is different. In the movie he survives but in the book he dies by falling down a hill, breaking his ankle, and then he is eaten by small dinosaurs.

Image result for jurassic park triceratops

In the movie Ellie tends to a sick Triceratops. In the novel it was a sick Stegosaurus.

Image result for jurassic park donald gennaro

Towards the end of the book Donald Gennaro suggest that the island be nuked but Alan Grant disagrees and wants to find out what went wrong. This never happened in the movie because Gennaro died when he was eaten by a T - Rex while on the toilet.

Image result for jurassic park ian malcolm

The book leaves Ian Malcolm's fate ambiguous. Throughout the story he spends most of his time in a hut recovering while being administered morphine. While at the same time ranting about the evils of playing God.

Image result for jurassic park robert muldoon

Robert Muldoon is also very different. The movie gives him a memorable death scene and not much is known about him. He does survive in the book and has a more prominent role. In the book he's at odds with Hammond feeling that he has a disinterest for proper security measures more importantly in weapons. Also in the book it tells us he's an alcoholic and at one point he's drunk and runs into a field of raptors then shoots them with a rocket launcher.

There are many other differences between the two properties but those are the ones I wanted to tell you about. I hoped you enjoyed this.

Road to Justice League - Justice League: War Review

Note: This review contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Image result for justice league war

Justice League: War is a 2014 direct - to - video animated superhero film based on the storyline Justice League: Origin by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. The movie is the first installment to the DC Animated Movie Universe. It's produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Home Video. The movie was written by Heath Corson and directed by Jay Oliva.

The story is Darkseid has launched an invasion on Earth. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Shazam and Cyborg must join forces to stop him from taking over the planet.

  • Negatives

Believe it or not my only complaint is there's no Aquaman. I wanted him in this movie because in Justice League #4 of The New 52 there's this awesome moment where he summons sharks to eat an army of Parademons. That would have made the movie even more awesome. Although on the bright side they did replace him with Shazam and he's cool.

  • Mix

Nothing to say so I'm moving on.

  • Positives

The art style is a huge improvement from the previous film The Flashpoint Paradox. All the characters have a good design to them.

Justice League: War continues the tradition of having fantastic action scenes. The best scenes are Superman vs. Batman & Green Lantern & the Justice League's fight against Darkseid.

Despite me complaining about Aquaman not being in the movie among other changes to the comic. It still does a good job keeping somethings true from the story arc it was based on.

The voice acting in this movie is pretty good. However Batman's voice will take some time to get use to as the film goes on. It's not a bad voice I'm just saying by the middle maybe even the end you’ll grow to like it.

The humor here is very funny. Two of the best moments are the banter between Batman & Green Lantern and Shazam comparing Darkseid's name to something you would use for World of Warcraft.

There is also a post - credit scene that I feel like is good set up for their next movie. What happened was Orm is holding the now dead King of Atlantis and declares war on our world. That got me really excited.

Justice League: War has a better art style than Flashpoint Paradox, the action here will definitely make sure you don't get bored, still stays true to the source material, the voice acting is good, and it has a nice sense of humor, and that post - credit scene does it's job setting up the next film. My only complaint is no Aquaman.

My final rating for this movie is Good

The Mummy Review

The Mummy is action - adventure horror film and a reboot to The Mummy franchise as well as the first installment to the Dark Universe film series. It's produced by Perfect World Pictures, Secret Hideout, Conspiracy Factory, and Sean Daniel Company and distributed by Universal Pictures. The movie was written by David Koepp, Christopher McQuarrie, and Dylan Kussman and directed by Alex Kurtzman.

The story is Nick Morton has unleashed an ancient Egyptian princess named Ahmanet. She goes on a rampage beyond human comprehension and now Nick must stop her before it's too late.

  • Negatives

I hated the comedic sidekick they gave Tom Cruise's character. The first action scene/moment we're suppose to find him funny all he does is scream and yell. A comedic sidekick can work but here it doesn't. They should've written him out of the movie.

  • Mix

Russell Crowe has a monologue in this movie and while I don't hate it I just couldn't get invested in it. I understand it's to give us Ahnmanet's origin story but it felt like we didn't need someone narrating the story when it could have been shown. I said it before and I'll say it again I don't hate it but at the same time I don't like it.

The horror parts of this film are okay but sometimes you will get clichés. Such as jump scares. One thing I thought was creepy was how The Mummy would make someone her undead slave.

  • Positives

I liked the design to The Mummy. While it is just her having grey skin and wearing rags they did do something creative. Her pupils split in two & she's covered in Egyptian writing. I thought that was a good creative choice.

I one hundred percent loved the action in this. Each one of those scenes got me excited and it left me wanting more. Two of my favorite scenes are the plane crash and the chase threw the woods.

Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, and Russell Crowe's performances are one of the highlights in this film. I especially loved seeing Nick & Russell's character interact with each other. I'm not telling you who Russell Crowe is playing cause it's a spoiler. All I'm going to say is he is one of the classic horror villains.

To my surprise the movie has a good sense of humor. The one person your going to get the most laughs from is Tom Cruise. He had great comedic timing.

The Mummy's problem is that annoying sidekick. It has a good monologue even though it felt unnecessary and while some horror bits are decent some are just outdated. The movie's best aspects are the design to The Mummy, the action scenes, the performances by Cruise, Boutella, and Crowe, and some funny moments that came from Tom Cruise.

My final rating for this movie is Okay

This may not have been the big grand movie Universal was hoping for with their cinematic universe but I think it's a nice step in the right direction. All they need to do is listen to some of the complaints people had and they could have something special.

Raiders of the Lost Media - Cartoon Network: Backlot Party

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some details. So take this with a grain of salt.

Hey everybody and welcome to Raiders of the Lost Media. Let me explain what this segment is before I get into today's topic. Originally this was Lost Films but after my Agent Crush post I wanted to expand on this whether the product was lost, partially lost or found. I still wanted to talk about lost films but I also wanted to tell people about TV shows, video games, and comics books. Then Lost Films was changed to Raiders of the Lost Media. Now with that out of the way let's talk about a lost video game.

Part One - What Was Cartoon Network: Backlot Party?

Cartoon Network: Backlot Party was going to be a crossover party video game for the Wii and Nintendo 3DS. It would've been developed by Game Machine Studios and published by Little Orbit.

Part Two - Shows That Would Have Appeared

The game would have included classics shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd N Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, and Cow and Chicken. The other shows were Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Adventure Time.

Part Three - The Game's Content

The game was going to include five different minigames like Dodgeball and a basketball game called Shoot to Win. The game also had more ambiguous titles like Backyard Chase, Girl Trouble, and Muriel's in Peril. Sources also said that were two additional games called Sneak-a-Catch and Go Jump-Ed.

Part Four - Announcement & Cancellation

On March 26, 2014 Little Orbit made an announcement that they were releasing two new Cartoon Network video games. One of them were based on Adventure Time which was then released as Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations and another one based on multiple franchises. The latter was later announced as Cartoon Network: Backlot Party then in the same press release they said the game would be released in October of 2015. Despite the press release saying it would come out in fall no new information official or unofficial was released past this point. This lead many people to believe that the game was cancelled.

I hoped you enjoyed reading this. I know I had a lot of fun making it and I look forward to making another Raiders of the Lost Media. I haven't decided what it will be but I'll tell you when I update the schedule to the State of the Project.

Wonder Woman Easter Eggs

Note: This post contains spoilers. You have been warned.

Well it's that time again where I tell you about a few Easter Eggs I noticed. As always I'm only listing a couple of these not every single one. Anyhow enough of that let's get started here are some of the Easter Eggs I found in Wonder Woman.
Image result for dceu wayne enterprises

Our first Easter Egg is a Wayne Enterprises truck drives up to a museum that Diana/Wonder Woman works at. The truck drivers hand Diana a briefcase that contains a photo of her, Steve Trevor and company during World War I.

Image result for wonder woman 2017 movie group photo

Speaking of that photo the movie gives us details of who those guys are, where they are, and when they took the photo. The men in that photo with Wonder Woman are from left to right Sameer, Steve Trevor, Chief, and Charlie. They took that photo after they passed No Man's Land to a village in Belgium where they successful liberated a village from German soldiers who were terrorizing it.

Image result for wonder woman 2017 zack snyder

Zack Snyder has a quick cameo in the movie. He plays an allied soldier. This is also he's second time having a cameo in a DC Extended Universe movie he's first was being Bruce Wayne's hand in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Image result for wonder woman erich friedrich wilhelm ludendorff

The movie also has real life German general. That being Erich Ludendorff. He's full name is Erich Friedrich Wilhelm Ludendorff they did change him a little bit one them being he huffs some kind of powder that Dr. Poison gives him to make him stronger & in the movie he dies during the closing days of the war in reality that didn't happen.

Image result for the kitchen is the key to victory eat less bread

The movie also has period accurate posters. One of the most notable ones is "The kitchen is the key to victory eat less bread".
Image result for wonder woman clay origin

The movie gives us both of Wonder Woman's origin stories. There's her original origin in where her mother made her out of clay and the Gods gave her life. This is actually just a cover up because her real origin in the movie is she's daughter of Zeus & Queen Hippolyta thus making her a demigoddess. This origin was based on her New 52 origin.

Image result for dc antiope

We get a to know a few of the Amazons. One of them being Antiope. In the movie she is Queen Hippolyta's sister. This is a could be a nod to George Perez's Wonder Woman run during the 80's.

Image result for dc artemis rebirth

The other Amazon were introduced to is Artemis(in the movie she is played by boxer Ann Wolfe). The character has a long history with Diana at one point she even took the mantle of Wonder Woman.

Image result for etta candy lucy davis

Lucy Davis plays the character Etta Candy. Etta is one of Wonder Woman's supporting characters since debuting in 1942 in Sensation Comics #2.

Image result for dc comics ares

Now let's talk about some of the others villains one of them being Ares. Ares in the Wonder Woman comics is one of her most formidable foes. Also in the movie he gives a speech about how "war is truth". A speech that's very similar in Wonder Woman #37 by Gail Simone.

Image result for dc comics dr poison

The other villain to appear in this movie is Dr. Poison. She works for Ares & Erich Ludendorff. She helps both of them by trying to win the war for Ludendorff and helps Ares by wiping out humanity to "purify" the world. The movie also incorporates a nod to her original green suit only it doesn't hide her gender like it did in her first appearance.

Image result for wonder woman ice cream

Now to talk about everyones favorite easter egg or at least my favorite. When Diana and Steve are in London they stop to buy some ice cream. Diana says that it's wonderful & the guy who sold it to them should be proud of this achievement. This is a nod when she had ice cream for the first in Justice League #3 (in The New 52 continuity).

Image result for dc comics themyscira

When Steve arrives at Themyscira he calls it Paradise Island. This is a reference to Themyscira's original name. The name was later changed to Themyscira in 1987 when Wonder Woman was having a relaunch.

Image result for superman 1978 bullet scene

At one point in the film Wonder Woman saves Steve from being shot. This scene is kind of familiar it almost gives you a feeling of the 1978 film Superman starring Christopher Reeve. Don't know if that was intentional or unintentional either way it's a great scene.

Image result for wonder woman fausta the nazi wonder woman

We also get an alumni from the 1970's Wonder Woman TV show one of the actress being Rachel Pickup. In the show she played a character named Fausta Grables aka The Nazi Wonder Woman. While she is credited as Fausta Grables she is in no way playing the same character. In the movie she was just a party guest.

Image result for deathstroke godkiller sword

Wonder Woman also gives us a Deathstroke easter egg that being the Godkiller sword. There are some notably changes to it one of them being it's appears it just looks like a regular sword in the comics it's gold and it's blade is huge even the handle is different. Another change was it wasn't given to Deathstroke but Wonder Woman stole it while she was preparing to put an early end to World War I.

Image result for wonder woman #39 2010

During Wonder Woman's fight with Ares she is shown to shoot lighting. This takes inspiration from Wonder Woman #39 by Gail Simone when Zeus gave her this power.

Image result for edgar rice burroughs

At one point in the film Steve Trevor hands he's fellow soldiers books written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Edgar Rice Burroughs is an author best known for his work on Tarzan and John Carter of Mars.

Image result for dc comics boom tube

At the end of the movie Wonder Woman hears a loud boom and goes off to find out and stop whatever it is. Some of speculated that this could be a possible boom tube that will lead to events in the upcoming Justice League film. A boom tube in DC Comics is a way to travel from one destination to another. The people who commonly use these are Darkseid and as of recently the Justice League. Don't know if that's the case we'll just have to wait and find out or maybe it will never be explained.

So those are some of the Easter Eggs I found in Wonder Woman. I hoped you enjoyed this.

Wonder Woman Review

Wonder Woman is a superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It's the fourth film installment to the DC Extended Universe. Wonder Woman is also the first live action theatrical film starring the character in her own movie. It's produced by DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, Cruel and Unusual Films, Tencent Pictures, and Wanda Pictures, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It's directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Allan Heinberg.

The story is U.S. military pilot Steve Trevor has washed up on an island named Themyscria. He tells Diana and the other Amazons about the ongoing events of World War I and Diana decides to leave Themyscria and go to London to bring an early end to the war.

  • Negatives

I have nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Mix

One aspect this film should have worked on more was the villains. Their are good but some of the stuff they did can be considered clichéd. One scene literally had them manically laughing after they just killed a group of people.

  • Positives

This movie's set designs are amazing. You have the dirty & dingy battlefield & the beautiful Themyscira. Especially Themyscira I could have looked at that place forever.

Now to talk about the action scenes. I loved these scenes. Patty Jenkins did a great job so thumbs up in this department but if I had to pick my favorite scene it would have been the No Man's Land scene. It was an outstanding scene & the music that went with it just made it better.

Gal Gadot all I have to say about her is she owns this role. I was concerned if she could handle this film on her own but after I walked out of theater she proved she can. I can't wait to see more of her in Justice League.

Another positive is the chemistry between Gal Gadot & Chris Pine besides the action scenes seeing them interact was also entertaining. They had good funny moments & great serious moments. One scene that I loved between them was when Steve Trevor taught Wonder Woman how to dance. It was a such a great moment for them.

Wonder Woman has spectacular set designs, action scenes you will love, Gal Gadot is excellent & her chemistry with Chris Pine was great. However some things the villains do are still intimidating but others things they do can be kind of corny.

My final rating for this movie is Great

What You Probably Didn't Know About Fight Club (1999)

Image result for fight club poster

Welcome back to another What You Probably Didn't Know About. So anyhow you guys usually you only see these things when it's for an upcoming movie. I did it with Antz for The Boss Baby, I did it for The Fast and The Furious for The Fate of the Furious, and Guardians of the Galaxy because the sequel was coming out. What's my reasoning for this? 11. After David Fincher edited the film, the studio executives were baffled by the piece and unsure of how to market it. Fincher had wanted a unique marketing idea which would mirror the film's theme of anti-commercialism, but the studio has worried about a possible backlash to the film, the studios rejected Fincher's idea(don't worry these aren't lost you can find them on the DVD their titled "Internet Spots"). So their idea was to market the film around Brad Pitt's presence as well as market it around the fighting(even thought the fights have a minor role). The campaign was highly criticized because people had the impression it was just about men beating each other up it was also criticized because the marketing ignored all of the comic and satire elements to the film and it has criticized because it targeted the wrong audience. David Fincher was also furious whenever the film's TV ads would appear on WWE & UFC programming.

18. The line "The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club" was #27 of "The 100 Greatest Movie Lines" by Premiere in 2007. The line is also functional to both the plot and to remind us the audience not to give away the twist to the film.

19. Speaking of that twist Rosie O'Donnell gave it away! On the Friday the film was released theatrically around the United States. She appeared on her TV show and revealed that she saw the film a week earlier and claimed she was unable to sleep ever since. She then proceeded to give away the big twist which was also the ending to the film and urged her fans not to see it at all cost. The incident was brought up in the DVD commentary track which featured David Fincher, Edward Norton, and Brad Pitt with Pitt claiming that O'Donnell's actions were unforgivable. Which I agree with Brad that was a dick move.

22. Courtney Love and Winona Ryder were also considered for the role of Marla Singer but in the end it came down to Helena Bonham Carter & Reese Witherspoon. When this was objected to by Fox 2000 Pictures' President of Production Laura Ziskin, David Fincher said he would change it on the proviso that the new line couldn't be cut. Ziskin agreed and Fincher wrote the replacement line "I haven't been fucked like that since grade school". Ziskin saw the new line and she was even more furious and asked for the original line to be put back in. However per their deal David refused.

So I hoped you enjoyed another edition of What You Probably Didn't Know. I had a lot of fun with this and I hope to do more that aren't revolved around an upcoming movie related to a franchise.
