Avengers: Endgame Easter Eggs

NOTE: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Hi guys. Welcome to yet another easter eggs post and this time I tell you about the easter eggs/references in I noticed in Avengers: Endgame. Once again this are just the ones I noticed not every single one. With that out of the way let's get started.

When the movie first starts we see Hawkeye (Clint) and his daughter doing some archery. This is a nod to the character Kate Bishop. Who would latter take the Hawkeye mantle in the comics.

Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., James Spader, Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Chris Hemsworth in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

After Tony and Nebula are rescued from space by Captain Marvel, Tony is arguing with Steve (aka Captain America). At one point Tony mentions how Cap said they lose together but didn't. The whole we'll lose together line is a throwback to Avengers: Age of Ultron.

After the argument the Avengers travel to where Thanos is hiding out. We that is living as a simple farmer after what he did in Infinity War. This is a nod to something very similar to what happened to him after the comic event series The Infinity Gauntlet.

Image result for thanos gone for the head

When Thor decapitates Thanos Rocket ask him what did you do Thor response with "I want for the head". This is clear nod to when Thanos told Thor he should've gone for the head back in Avengers: Infinity War.

We get two cameos from Captain America's post-snap support group. One of them being from one of the directors that being Joe Russo and the creator of Thanos himself Jim Starlin.

When Scott comes out of the Quantum Realm that he was left stranded back in Ant-Man and The Wasp, we see that the van has the storage number of 616. 616 is the number for the main continuity for Marvel Comics.

When we catch back up with Tony Stark after the five year later gap, we see him and Pepper have a daughter named Morgan Stark. Morgan is a character in the Marvel but she is a he, Tony's cousin, and his bend on taking Stark Industries from Tony.

Image result for marvel ronin

When we finally see Clint again he has now is sporting a different costume and going by Ronin. Ronin is indeed a Marvel but he was never one of Clint's aliases.

Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future (1985)Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator (1984)John Cusack, Clark Duke, Craig Robinson, and Rob Corddry in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)

When the team is having a conversation of time travel Rhodey and Scott list off time traveling movies. Three of those being Back to the Future, The Terminator, and Hot Tub Time Machine.

When the Avengers travel back in time to get their own Infinity Gems, Captain America meets up with Hydra agents in a elevator. This is a easter egg to Captain America: The Winter Soldier's awesome elevator scene. When Cap gets the space stone from Hydra agents he says "Hail Hydra". As both a way not to rat them and as a nod to the very stupid moment in comics when he said exactly that.

Image result for captain america i can do this all day

When Captain America runs into his 2012 self and starts to fight him, his 2012 counterpart says "I can do this all day". A line he said in both Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: Civil War.

Throughout the movie Rocket is seen wearing his classic comic accurate suit. But during the time travel part of the film when him and Thor travel to Asgard back in Thor: The Dark World the Asgardians call him "rabbit". A nod to when Thor called him the same thing back in Avengers: Infinity War.

Image result for ant man hank pym

Due to Scott and Tony failing to capture the Tesseract back in 2012, Tony and Steve travel back to 1970. During their search we get a glimpse of Ant-Man's (Hank Pym) classic comic helmet.

Image result for captain america thors hammer

During the fight with Thanos Captain America picks up and fights with Thor's hammer. This is a nod to when it happened to Steve in The Mighty Thor #390 and Fear Itself #7.

Once everyone arrives to the battlefield, Captain America finally says an iconic line from the comics,

We finally he Captain America say his classic of "Avengers Assemble".

Happy Hogan asks Morgan what kind of food she wants to eat near the film's end. Her response? A cheeseburger.

During Tony's funeral we see Happy ask Tony's daughter Morgan if she's hunger. Shes responses with yeah then Happy ask her want she wants and she says cheeseburgers. This is a reference when Tony wanted the same thing back in Iron Man (2008).

After the funeral Thor a boards the Guardians of the Galaxy's ship and he says they are the 'Asgardians of the Galaxy". A clear reference to the comic series of the same name.

So those were all of the easter eggs I noticed in Avengers: Endgame. With that being said that's going to do it for me. Come back on Thursday, May 2nd. The main topic for that post is why I joined the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Avengers: Endgame Review

Avengers: Endgame is a comic book film based on the Marvel Comics' team The Avengers. The movie is a direct sequel to 2018's Avengers: Infinity War as well as the twenty-second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Endgame is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

The story is after the events of Avengers: Infinity War half of all life in the universe has been killed by the incident called "The Decimation". Now the remaining team of Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy must join forces to undo what Thanos has done. Can they make everything right or will they have to adapt to this new world?

Initial Reaction

After the shocking ending to Avengers: Infinity War, I was already anticipating Avengers 4 (around this time of my thinking it wasn't called Endgame yet). Then the trailers came (the first one finally revealing the official title) and I waited and waited and waited and continued waiting. What also got me looking forward to Endgame was this was going to be the last time we see the original six Avengers together. So yes I was all aboard this movie.

Cons

My only real problem with the film was Thor's character. What the hell Russos, Markus, and McFeely?! People liked what you did with him in Infinity War because he wasn't like he was in Thor: Ragnarok. But here it felt like they took his characterization in Ragnarok and turned it up. Just why?

Middle Ground

The real grey area for Avengers: Endgame is the second acts tone and it's part of the story. Let's discuss the tone first we start out very serious but then when after a few more minutes of that we all of sudden go comedic but at the same time try to be serious but at the same time still have humor injected into it. Like could the filmmakers really not decide what they wanted to go for? Then we have it's whole story. I won't tell you what exactly it is because it's a huge spoiler I'll just say it leaves your head scartching about the previous films.

Pros

Now let's talk about the good. One thing I enjoyed was the stakes. Yes I still liked what was at risk despite the fact the tone felt like a mish mash of two different tones. The other part of Endgame you'll like is the performances. All of the acting was good. I even liked Brie Larson in this even though she didn't win me over in Captain Marvel. Another aspect to enjoy from the movie is how this really did feel like a send off to the original Avengers team. This truly felt like you were saying goodbye. The other facet of Avengers: Endgame that truly hurt and shocked me were one character's death. Don't worry I won't say who it is because this is a spoiler free review. I'll just say it was sad for me to see them go after a long film history. The final thing I'll praise Endgame for is the action but most importantly that big epic finale. Holy shit that was how you end a movie. The only thing I feel like that could rival that finale is a Star Wars or Lord of the Rings film.

Avengers: Endgame is an enjoyable movie. The stakes are high, the performances are good, it really felt like you were saying goodbye to the original six Avengers, that huge character death, and oh my god that finale battle was amazing. The mix bag is the second act in both tone and how it confuses you about the previous films. The only thing that really made me irate was Thor's characterization. Seriously Russos, Markus, and McFeely what the f*ck?!

My final rating is Good

So yeah I definitely prefer Infinity War but I still liked Endgame. Anyways that's all for me and come back next time on Monday, April 29th for my easter eggs post for Avengers: Endgame. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Road to Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker - Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones Review

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones is a 2002 epic space opera and the sequel to Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace as well as the second installment of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. The movie was produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones was written by George Lucas and Jonathan Hales and directed by George Lucas.

The story is it's been ten years since the events of the Battle of Naboo. Padme Amidala is now a Senator representing her homeworld. Because of her high rank there are many assassination attempts on her life. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have been summoned to protect her and investigate why this is happening. During the investigation Obi-Wan discovers there's more to this than they realize.

  • Negatives

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Mix

Alright I'm going to come out and just say it. Now feel free to leave anytime because I'm pretty sure this will piss people off. I don't think the love story between Anakin and Padme is all that bad. Yes at the beginning of the movie it's bad. The rest of it the other hand it's fine. That's it. It's not the greatest thing ever it's just okay. I think it could have been done had the editors cut out the part where Anakin says he dreams about her and that one moment where he says "or be with the people I love". Just get rid of those scenes and would have been alright.

The other aspect of Attack of the Clones where it's a mix bag for is Hayden Christensen's performance. He does have some bad moments in the movie but other times he's pretty good. The best moment is when he finds his dying mother.

The other grey area the movie is the visual effects. Much like The Phantom Menace there are some really astounding CG other times no. There just not good. I mean look at this picture of Mace Windu with a group of clone troopers.

Image result for attack of the clones mace windu

So yes. Moments like the one above are bad but other special effects moments are good.

  • Positives

Now that I got all of that out of the way let's tell you guys about some goods with Attack of the Clones. One of the best things is Obi-Wan. He gets a lot more development this time around. More so than what he got in The Phantom Menace.

The other thing I enjoyed from Star Wars: Episode II was the action. Once again in the prequel trilogy we get breathtaking action sequences. That third act especially. Seriously that part was the best thing in the entire movie.

Another feature to like about the movie is some of the techniques they use. For instance did you know you can hear Qui-Gon Jinn's voice trying to contact Anakin. Those tiny things actually do the movie some sort of justice.

The final thing I'll give the movie credit for the introduction to new characters. Jango Fett is just as much of a badass as his son Boba Fett and Mace Windu is also a welcomed edition to the film series.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones is by now mean a perfect sequel film nor a great film in general, but I do feel as though it gets way too much hate. Obi-Wan's development was handled nicely, the action was great, the small detailed techniques are a nice touch, and some of the new characters (mostly Jango and Mace) are pretty good. The three things that really could have used more work were the love story between Anakin and Padme, Hayden Christensen's performance, and the visual effects.

My final rating is Okay

So yes I for the most part liked Attack of the Clones but still know it's not a great movie. Anyways that's going to do it for me. Come back on Saturday, April 27th for my review of Avengers: Endgame. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Road to Toy Story 4 - Toy Story 2 Review

Toy Story 2 is a 1999 3D animated comedy film and the sequel to 1995's Toy Story. The movie is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Buena Vista Pictures. Toy Story 2 was written by Andrew Stanton, Rita Hsiao, Doug Chamberlin, and Chris Webb and directed by John Lasseter.

The story is Woody has been stolen by a greedy toy collector named Al McWhiggin. Buzz and the rest of the gang set out to go find Woody and bring him back before Andy gets back from cowboy camp. While Buzz and co. are trying to find Woody he discovers he's a valuable collectible from the once popular show "Woody's Roundup". He then befriends Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete the Prospector. Now the question is after becoming friends with fellow cowfolk does Woody even want to go back home?

  • Negatives

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Mix

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Positives

One thing I enjoyed about was the amount of danger the toys were in. Sure there was plenty of that in the first movie, but here in Toy Story 2 the risk of them being destroyed was elevated. I think the best scene was the crosswalk scene. There were so many close calls that it felt you thankful for what the outcome was.

The other part of the film I enjoyed was the animation. Yes Pixar has had entire history of having good animation. What I mean is I'm comparing the first two films. In Toy Story the was really good in Toy Story 2 it's even better.

Another aspect of Toy Story 2 you'll enjoy is the Emily flashback. That moment in the film will always be the number one emotional Pixar moment. Some people didn't really care for the song being put in there but I liked it. I thought it just added something even better to an already great scene.

One other feature to the film is it's use of humor. Toy Story 2 is way funnier than Toy Story. I think my favorite parts were Rex having to "use his head" and Mr. Potato Head saying he's a married spud and preparing for "Mr. Angry Eyes". To understand anything about what I'm talking about watch the movie. Trust those scenes are hilarious.

The final thing I'll give the movie credit for is it's use of nods from the first movie. Sometimes when we get nods to the previous film there usual there as joke or just some reference that serves no purpose. Here however they help advance the story. There nods to both show/say how much the characters grew from the previous adventure.

Toy Story 2 is a one of few of the greatest sequels made. The risk surrounding the toys are even greater than before, the animation is great, that Emily flashback still hits me right in the heart strings, the funny moments are truly funny, and the nods are more than just throw away jokes.

My final rating is A Must Watch

Alright everyone that's going to do it for me. Come back next time on Thursday, April 25th for my review of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack on the Clones, a continuation of the Road to Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

Oh speaking of that review I almost forgot to you something. That review will go up way earlier than it usually does. The main reason being I'm going to an early showing of Avengers: Endgame. The time that review will go up is 5:00pm (Eastern) and 2:00pm (Pacific). Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Road to Dark Phoenix - X-Men: First Class Review

X-Men: First Class (or as it's shown onscreen X: First Class) is a 2011 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics' team X-Men. the movie is the fifth installment of the X-Men film series. The movie is produced by Marvel Entertainment, The Donners' Company, Bad Hat Harry Productions, Dune Entertainment, and Ingenious Film Partners and distributed by 20th Century Fox. X-Men: First Class was written by Matthew Vaughn,  Jane Goldman, Ashley Edward Miller, and Zack Stentz and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

The story is in 1962 during the height of the Cold War. Charles Xavier meets Erik Lensherr. They both have a goal to stop a mutant named Sebastian Shaw and his group named The Hellfire Club. Knowing they don't stand a chance with just the two of them they decide to form their own team. With this new group they must do whatever it takes to stop the Hellfire Club.

  • Negatives

My only real problem with the film is it sometimes drags. There were a few scenes that could get pretty wordy.

  • Mix

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Positives

One thing I liked about First Class was how gritty it was. Now yes the first two films were like that too. But then we got X-Men: The Last Stand where it felt they wanted to go with a gritty tone but they also wanted to be just a little tiny bit light hearted what with the more comedic scenes. With X-Men: First Class we go back to the more serious tone that the first films gave us.

The other aspect of the film you'll like is the action. Matthew Vaughn gave us awesome action scenes with the Kick-Ass films, but where those films didn't need lots of special effects like this one does, thankfully and lucky he prove he can handle an action film that required a lot of special effects. The action was awesome. Especially during they third act that's were things get really intense.

Another thing you'll like about First Class is Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw. I don't know any other villain roles that Bacon as played but if there anything like this I would like to watch them. Seriously, I don't think he gets enough credit playing this character.

The other feature that makes the movie so great is the performances. Mostly from James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. They were so good in these roles that it sucks we're not gonna see them play these characters again when Dark Phoenix is said and done. They have so much great chemistry throughout the whole movie.

If you weren't satisfied with X-Men: The Last Stand then X-Men: First Class will make you love this film series again. It has a great gritty tone, the action was spectacular, Kevin Bacon played a great bad guy, and the performances from McAvoy and Fassbender were amazimg. The only real bad thing about the film is some scenes drag on way more than they should.

My final rating is Great

Wow, I can't believe I'm only two films away from being done with this review series. Other than that come back on Monday, April 22nd when I return to the Road to Toy Story 4 with my review of Toy Story 2. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Shazam! Easter Eggs

NOTE: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Image result for shazam

Hey everybody and welcome to another edition of me spotting easter eggs in the latest comic book film. Today it's Shazam's turn. Before we get started let me remind you I'm only doing the ones I noticed not every single easter eggs. Let's begin.

The film's story mainly takes inspiration from the New 52 version of Shazam. For the most part the film copies a lot of the scenes. Here are some of those

At one point Freddy and Billy need money and they go to an ATM.  This plan kind of works if you want to say that. They do get money but due to Billy's powers the machine to gives them more than what they want.

Another page taking from the comic is Freddy giving Shazam a jacket. The scenes are played out differently. In the comic he was so Billy wouldn't draw any attention, in the movie Billy (in his Shazam form) has the jacket to not only hid his costume but to impersonate himself as Freddy's dad. There are many more scenes like this but I've I got over any more this post will be too long so let's move on.

Image result for annabelle

Much like how James Wan had an Annabelle doll cameo in Aquaman, Shazam's director David F. Sandberg (who directed Annabelle: Creation prior to this film) does the same thing. Her cameo appears when the cops Billy called enter a pawn shop. Look at the towards the lower left shelf on the screen and you'll see her.

Image result for watchmen smiley

When Billy is brought in by the cops and sent to a social worker, her desk has a mug, balls, and buttons with smiley faces on them. David F. Sandberg confirmed that it's a Watchmen easter egg.

When Billy meets the Wizard Shazam he gives Billy a history lesson. He tells a story about the first champion they chose only for that to backfire because he was filled with rage and such. This is clearly a reference to Black Adam.

One of Billy's closes friends is a talking tiger named Mr. Twany. While he doesn't make an appearance in the film their a quite a few references to him. During the beginning of the film when Billy was a little kid he tells his mom he wants the tiger, we see a tiger's face on Shazam's costume, and during the final battle with Dr. Sivana, Shazam meets a father with his scared little daughter and Shazam gives her a plush tiger.

Related image

During the montage sequence with Shazam and Freddy, they are playing video games. The game their playing is Mortal Kombat X.

Related image

Also during that montage of testing Billy's powers, Freddy is uploading all of the footage he recorded to YouTube with various names. One of those names being ZAP-tain America. A very clear reference to Captain America.

When Shazam and Freddy are trying to get themselves a lair, Billy's description is a cave but not just any cave, one with access to drive through a waterfall. This could be a easter egg to Nolan's Batcave.

Image result for shazam crocodile

When Billy and the other kids are fleeing from Dr. Sivana one of the doors they open has crocodiles wearing suits. These are one of Shazam's enemies those being...well...the Crocodile Men.

Related image

During the final confrontation with Dr. Sivana, Billy is forced to give his powers but instead gives them to his new found family. This gives them powers and turns them into Shazams too. This scene plays out very similarity to the comic.

Image result for street fighter ryu hadouken

When the kids are testing out their new powers, Eugene (the one in the grey Shazam suit) shouts "Hadouken". A nod to Ryu's famous move from the video game series Street Fighter.

Image result for henry cavill superman

When the film comes to a close Freddy and the other kids meet up with during lunch and said they made a special arrangement. Billy (in his Shazam form) comes out, praises Freddy, and also tells him he brought a friend. That friend being Superman. Although faceless because Sandberg and crew were filming in Toronto for a limited amount of time.

Image result for shazam mister mind

When we reach the mid-credit scene we see Dr. Sivana in jail and then he hears a voice. This voice is Mister Mind, a super intelligent worm. But this wasn't his first appearance in the movie. When Billy enters the Wizard's lair you can see him in his containment jar.

Alright everyone that's going to do it for me. Come back, Thursday April 11th for the return of the Road to Dark Phoenix with my review of X-Men: First Class. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Shazam! Review

Asher Angel in Shazam! (2019)

Shazam! is a comic book film based on the DC Comics' character of the same name. The film is the seventh movie in the ever growing DC Extended Universe. Shazam! is produced by DC Films, New Line Cinema, The Safran Company, Mad Ghost Productions, and Seven Bucks Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie is written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke and directed by David F. Sandberg.

The story is Billy Batson is a troubled fourteen year old foster boy living in Philadelphia. Billy is moved into the Vazquez family and their five other children. One day Billy is granted the powers of Shazam. While Billy is trying to figure out his new found abilities, a dangerous man by the name of Doctor Sivana who is wielding his own powers.

Initial Reaction

With any other comic book film I was excited to see this. Shazam! did look like it was going to be the lightest film in the DCEU and judging from the trailers it did look like it was going to be a good movie too. So natural I was on board for this film. But once again I still remained skeptical because well marketing can sometimes be very deceiving. Although skepticism still wasn't going to stop me.

Cons

My only problem was the post-credit scene. It was just another scene played for a joke. I just thought it was really pointless.

Middle Ground

The only grey area of Shazam is the special effects. Now for the most part there great. Especially the Seven Deadly Sins. Those are done great. Where things get iffy is when flight and super speed is involved. There by no means the worst it's just you can clearly tell that CG was used.

Pros

One thing I liked about the film is the performances. Mark Strong as Dr. Sivana was a perfectly casted. Jack Grazer as Freddy, I liked him. The kid's delivery with the wit really made him a scene stealer. Asher Angel as Billy Batson again another great casting. He really played off well with Grazer. Then we have Zachary Levi as Shazam. For anybody who doubted him your gonna have to eat your words. He really played the whole "oh I've got superpowers this is amazing" to a perfect ten. Now yes, Shazam! is definitely the lightest toned film in the DCEU. But...BUT that doesn't mean it turned away from the more darker elements that the DCEU is known for. I mean the very first scene in the movie is dark. The other thing I'll give the film credit is it's humor. There are quite a lot funny moments. It especially worked because these are kids testing out and having a good time with superpowers. The other aspect of Shazam! I liked was Dr. Sivana. He's an awesome and intimidating villain. What really made him scary was he was willing to kill anyone who gets in his way no matter how old you are. The other thing I want to give the movie is the message of family. Throughout the film Billy is learning that message. I felt it added another lair to the movie. Another thing I'll give Shazam! credit for is making Billy & Shazam act like the same person. For some reason whenever these kind of movies are released the adult actor seems like they have no idea how a kid acts, but with Shazam you don't have that problem. This is the same Billy whether he's a superhero or not. My final prasie for the film is the mid-credit scene. It definitely makes me want to have Shazam! 2. No it has nothing to do with Black Adam but it still has me excited.

Shazam! is definitely a film you should see. The performances from Strong, Grazer, Angel, and Levi were great, while it does have a lighter tone it still contains dark moments, the humor is definitely funny, Dr. Sivana was a good villain, the message of family was a nice added touch, making sure Billy and Shazam acted like the same person, and the mid-credit scene leaves you wanting Shazam! 2. The special effects were good for the most part. The only downside was the post-credit scene.

My final rating is Great

Okay that's it for today everybody. Come back on Monday, April 8th for my post about the easter eggs I noticed in this movie. Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

A Look Back at Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam (2010)

Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam (2010)

Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam is short animated comic book film based on the DC Comics' characters of Superman, Shazam, and Black Adam. The short film was produced by DC Comics, Warner Animation, and Warner Premiere and distributed by Warner Home Video. Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam was written by Michael Jelenic and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos.

The story is one day Clark Kent wants to interview young Billy Batson about how ruff street kids are having it in Fawcett City. During this interview Black Adam appears and causes chaos. Superman tries to stop him but just isn't getting the job done. Then Shazam joins the fight. Can both these men stop Black Adam or will they be defeated?

  • Negatives

My only real problem with the movie is Jerry O'Connell as Captain Marvel. The voice he gave just made Cap sound like he was a teenager. Which is weird. Because he sounded way older in Justice League Unlimited.

  • Mix

I've got nothing to say. Let's move on.

  • Positives

One thing I liked about the movie is the character designs. The artist for Return of Black Adam really made each character different from the other. No two characters or more look exactly the same.

Another thing to enjoy about the film is how they easily and quickly told Billy Batson's origin story. It hit all the major parts and it did without feeling like the story had to slow down or pause for a moment.

The feature of Superman/Shazam that makes the a blast to watch is Black Adam. He's definitely shown to be a big threat. Especially with how ruthless he is. For crying out loud he wanted to kill Billy even before he got his powers.

My final prasie to the film is the action. The moment Black Adam meets Clark and Billy it's a non-stop thrill ride. My favorite is when Superman and Captain Marvel tag team Black Adam.

Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam is a fun short film. The character designs are easy to differentiate from each other, Captain Marvel's origin was told perfectly, Black Adam was a good villain, and the action was great. The only downside is O'Connell's strangely young Captain Marvel voice.

My final rating is Great

Okay everyone I'm done for the day. Come back on Saturday, April 6th for my review of the newest edition to the DCEU, Shazam! Until then enjoy the rest of your day.

Justice League vs. the Fatal Five Review

Justice League vs. the Fatal Five is animated comic book film based on the DC Comics' teams the Justice League created by Gardner Fox and the Fatal Five created by Jim Shooter. The movie is produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Justice League vs. the Fatal Five is written by Eric Carrasco, Alan Burnett, and Jim Krieg and directed by Sam Liu.

The story is a new threat has come to face the Justice League, that threat being the Fatal Five from the 31st century. The Fatal Five's plan is they want Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) to turn herself in to them or they will flatten every major city of the 21st century.

Initial Reaction

Now much like any DC animated movie I was looking forward to it. But this one more so because it's harking back to the 2001 TV series Justice League (or more so Justice League Unlimited what with the lesser known characters that appear in the film). I grew up watching that show so seeing an animated movie with George Newbern, Kevin Conroy, and Susan Eisenberg reprising their roles of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman got me excited. They even included the art style of that show. So yeah it's safe to say this film drew me in.

Cons

The only part of Justice League vs. the Fatal Five was how they just skimmed over Jessica Cruz's origin. They give us one flashback and that was it. Sure it gives somewhat of a good idea were her anxiety comes from but it just felt like there could have been more to explore.

Middle Ground

The one feature to Justice League vs. the Fatal Five I wished was they filmmakers did more with is the Fatal Five themselves. While they are shown to be a real threat to the Justice League their not giving as much character development as our heroes. So this can kind of give the impression that despite being in title they might come off as an afterthought. Especially since we don't know what happens to them after the movie ends.

Pros

One thing I wasn't expecting from the movie was the language and violence. Now the reason I'm not putting this as bad thing is because despite that this still feels like it belongs in the DC Animated Universe. Also I would have been hypocrite for criticizing the movie for that aspect but yet I was perfectly fine with it in Batman and Harley Quinn. The other part of the film I liked was the friendship built around Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern and Thomas Kallor/Star Boy. Due them both having their own mental issues Thomas suffering from schizophrenia and Jessica suffering from anxiety/PTSD. So their definitely the heart of the story. Another aspect to enjoy from the movie is the action. So many great scenes that I can't really tell which one was my favorite. The final thing I'll give the film credit for is it's humor. Plenty of funny stuff, my favorite is when Batman says he doesn't do well working with teenagers and then Miss Martian turns into a very familiar face then Batman says "good point" and walks away.

Justice League vs. the Fatal Five is a fun animated movie. The language and violence doesn't give off the effect that isn't doesn't belong in the DC Animated Universe, the bond between Jessica and Star Boy was heart warming to watch, the action was great, and the humor is quite funny. The only thing that could have used more work was the Fatal Five's character development and the only bad aspect of the movie was skipping over Jessica's origin story.

My final rating is Good
