Plans for October

So another month is fading away and October is right around the corner. With that in mind I decided to tell you guys my plans for next month. Basically my plans for October is to review horror films. I know how creative. Alright not every review will be horror related because I'm also planning to review Batman: Return of The Caped Crusaders because it has a sequel coming out so I'm really excited to review that. And besides Batman: Return of The Caped Crusaders I'm also going to review recently released movies too, some may not even be in the horror genre. My plans for the horror movie reviews are to review them but also tell you interesting things about them. Such as if they have novels, comic books, video games or how many awards they won or were nominated for, things like that. There is also going to be two Cinematic Disaster reviews one them I'm really looking forward to. So here's the schedule but remember things could always change.

Oct 2nd - Cinematic Disasters - Jason X

The Top 4 Cinematic Universes That I'm Skeptical About

Art belongs to Maxkid1030

So it's no big secret that film studios want to make their own cinematic universe. Hell there are cinematic universes everywhere nowadays. There's the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe, the MonsterVerse, the Dark Universe, the Conjuring Universe, and the Lego Film Universe. Cinematic universes are all over the place, however these are the top four cinematic universes that I'm questioning if studios can pull off or make it work. But before I get started let me just explain that some of these are rumors or they might happen but could get scrapped if things don't work out. So enough of that let's do this.

Image result for valiant comics

#4. The Valiant Cinematic Universe

Let me get a couple of things out of the way. One I haven't read any of Valiant's comics so I don't know how they are quality wise and two I've got nothing against them so let me explain why I don't think their cinematic universe is going to work. The biggest reason for me is their competition DC and Marvel. They are both killing it with their movies and I don't think Valiant will stand a change against them. Mainly because general audiences are more familiar with superheroes like Superman and Spider-Man then they are with Bloodshot or X-O Manowar. But hey if they can pull it off more power to them.

#3. The Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe

Now this is one I think might kind of work but it's on this list for one reason. That reason being the people behind this universe better do these characters justice or there will be hell to pay. Because there are generations that grew up with these characters and if the filmmakers get them wrong they'll never hear the end of it. So I actually hope they do well but the studios absolutely need to find the right directors, actors, and writers for this universe. One thing they better not do is make it live-action whenever a cartoon is made into a live-action movie it always spells trouble.

Image result for hasbro cinematic universe

#2. The Hasbro Cinematic Universe

Yeah that picture above that I'm using isn't a joke, Hasbro is actually considering making their own cinematic universe. Now a crossover between Hasbro properties has happened before there's a comic series titled Transformers vs. G.I. Joe. They are thinking about doing a crossover like that but they also want to include M.A.S.K., Micronauts, Rom, and Visionaries. They also confirmed they have writers for their cinematic universe and it was reported that a script for a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover is being written. So they'll get some butts in seats with the Transformers/G.I. Joe movie but the other stuff. I don't know. But in all honest I wish them they best of luck.

Image result for call of duty cinematic universe

#1. The Call of Duty Cinematic Universe

Alright now this is one cinematic universe out of all them that I find stupid! It's just...why? Of all the video game franchises to make a cinematic universe out of why Call of Duty? From what I've heard about the games is that they all sound like the same thing. So Activision you better get some damn good writers, directors, and actors for this film series because if you don't this will blow up in your face. I'll give this cinematic universe the benefit of the doubt but until we see some footage, this idea sounds awful.

So that's all I have to say and come back on Thursday when I tell you about my plans for next month.

The Lego Ninjago Movie Review

The Lego Ninjago Movie is a 3D animated action comedy marital arts film. It's the first film to be based on an original Lego property, while also being the second spin-off of The Lego Movie. The Lego Ninjago Movie is produced by Warner Animation Group, Lin Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, and Animal Logic. The movie's distributor is Warner Bros. Pictures. The Lego Ninjago Movie is written by Bob Logan, Paul Fisher, William Wheeler, Tom Wheeler, Jared Stern, and John Whittington and directed by Charlie Bean, Bob Logan, and Paul Fisher.

The story is six teenage ninjas defend the city of Ninjago against Lord Garmadon, who is also Lloyd's aka The Green Ninja's dad. Pitting father against son the team must learn to pull together to unleash the true power of the ninja.

  • Negatives

One of my biggest complaints with the movie is a giant realistic cat that helped Garmadon destroy the city is part of the main plot. If any of you watched the trailers or TV spots you know what I'm talking about. It was so stupid. I understand that's the joke but it was not a very good joke...or plot point.

My other problem with The Lego Ninjago Movie is Lloyd's story with his father Garmadon is predictable. Once one or both of them get sentimental you know something good will happen to them.

  • Mix

The humor in this movie is in a very grey area. Don't worry the there were a lot of times that I did laugh but other times not so much. Some of the jokes can be predictable. One joke that really didn't get me to laugh was two quick montage sequences regrading an ultimate weapon and kung-fu movies had me thinking "was I suppose to find that funny"?

  • Positives

One thing I praise the movie for is the writers changed a lot of stuff from the show Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. I thought it was a smart move because then there's no confusing between the two continuities. And at the same time if your a fan of Ninjago you'll still know who's who and what's what.

Once again this is another Lego movie with great animation. Besides story that's another reason to see these Lego movies.

The performances in the movie were also good. I especially loved Jackie Chan as Master Wu and Justin Theroux as Lord Garmadon. Not only did they do a great job playing these characters but they were also hilarious as them too.

The Lego Ninjago Movie's best qualities are changing things from the show but still remaining recognizable, spectacular animation, and even better voice performances. The humor isn't bad but at the same time could've used more work. The weakest parts are the father/son story between Lloyd and Lord Garmadon and that stupid cat being a plot point rather than just a one time joke.

My final rating is Okay

Differences Between Captain America: Civil War & Marvel Comics' Civil War

Hey everybody so if you read my review for Captain America (1990) you would know two things. One I found that movie to be awful and two I wanted to something else involving Captain America. So I decided to do another Differences Between. And just like my differences between Jurassic Park the movie and Jurassic Park the novel I'm just doing this for fun.

Image result for iron spider armor

One of the many differences between the film and the comic is Spider-Man. Throughout Captain America: Civil War he does appear but not in his Iron Spider armor it was just he's regular costume. In the Civil War event comic however he does wear the Iron Spider armor to show he's divided loyalty between Iron Man and Captain America.

Related image

Another change to Spider-Man is him revealing his secret identity. In Captain America: Civil War this doesn't happen because this Spider-Man is new and Tony didn't want him to reveal his identity to the public. In the Civil War story arc Peter reveals himself to be Spider-Man because under the registering act you have to reveal your secret identity. Not only did Peter do that because it was the law but it was also because Tony Stark had convinced him that this was the right way to move forward.

Image result for captain america civil war crossbones

The main reason for people changing their opinions on the heroes is in Captain America: Civil War it was because of the heroes previous battles in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and then Cap's team assaulting Crossbones which ended with a building blowing up thus causing a lot of damage and loss of life. In the Civil War comic event it was because the New Warriors were fighting a villain called Nitro who made an explosion leveling the surrounding city which also included a nearby elementary school. It also didn't help that the New Warriors didn't call for back up.

Image result for captain america civil war teams

The team roasters are also quite different. In Captain America: Civil War Captain America's team is himself, Hawkeye, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, and Falcon and Iron Man's team is himself, War Machine, Vision, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Black Widow. In the Civil War storyline Team Iron Man is himself, Spider-Man, Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man), Reed Richards (leader of the Fantastic Four), The Thing (one of the members of the Fantastic Four), She-Hulk, and Black Widow among others. Captain America's team is himself, Falcon, Daredevil, Hercules, Invisible Woman and Human Torch (the other members of the Fantastic Four), Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and The Punisher among others including Vision. Also Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch were not part of the story like they were in the movie.

Image result for marvel comics shield

The people who enforced the Accords changed as well. In Civil War it was S.H.I.E.L.D. that enforces the Superhero Registration Act. For Captain America: Civil War the head of the Accords is U.S. Secretary of State Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who aims to enforce the new law with the U.N. committee.

Image result for captain america civil war zemo

In Captain America: Civil War the real reason for the heroes fighting each other was because of a villain pulling the strings from behind the scenes that being Zemo. In Civil War there is no villain it was an actual conflict between two different ideals between superheroes.

Image result for marvel villains

Since were on the topic of villains let's talk about their part in all of this. Now there weren't any villains involved in Captain America: Civil War since some of them are either out of commission or dead. In Civil War however Team Iron Man recruits a team of "reformed" villains to show just how far he's fallen and how far he's willing to win this war.

We Finally Know What The Hell The Hulk Is Doing In Thor: Ragnarok - MTV

Both Thor and Hulk's reasons for not being in both Civil Wars are also different. In the Civil War storyline the Hulk wasn't there because other heroes launched him into space because they thought he was too dangerous leading into the Planet Hulk storyline. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe Hulk went off the grid because it was his choice at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the Civil War comic we did have a Thor but it wasn't the real Thor it was an overly aggressive cyborg clone of Thor. Wow both saying that out loud and writing that sounded really weird. Now Thor was brought up in Captain America: Civil War but nobody including the Avengers know where he is.

Image result for marvel civil war

Now in the Civil War comic event there were tons of Marvel characters thus making this feel like a war. In Captain America: Civil War there weren't they many which isn't too bad after all the MCU hasn't introduced a lot of characters to be involved in that movie and some characters such as the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, Marvel doesn't own the film rights to.

Image result for marvel captain america

Captain America's reason for being anti-registration are also different. In the original Civil War story Steve is against the registration because one of the rules is the superheroes revealing the true identity, which Cap saw as a time honored tradition that kept them out from under government control. That didn't sit well with him at all, but while that was bad S.H.I.E.L.D. made it even worse by stating that they were going to hunt down unregistered heroes and they assumed Captain America would lead the charge. In Captain America: Civil War he's reason is he doesn't want the government to tell him where or when he's allowed to save people. The other reason is his longtime best friend Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier is a wanted man who is being hunted down by the government and Team Iron Man for a bombing he didn't commit.

Winter Soldier: Winter Kills (2006) #1 | Comic Issues | Marvel

Now in Captain America: Civil War The Winter Soldier plays a very big role in the story. In the movie were shown his struggles with his brainwashing and his on the run when a bomb went off at a conference in Vienna. In the Civil War story while he is on Captain America's team he doesn't play that much of a role. The only time he was really involved was tie-in comics.

Marvel's Black Panther and Captain Marvel get their own movies in 2017 and 2018 - Polygon

Another big differences between the two properties is Black Panther's origin. Decades before the Civil War story arc T'Challa became Black Panther because his father King T'Chaka is killed by the mercenary Ulysses Klaw who was seeking the Vibranium in their African nation of Wakanda. In Captain America: Civil War T'Chaka is killed but in a different way that way being a bombing during a conference in Vienna. Then after the bombing T'Challa becomes the Black Panther seeking vengeance for his father's demise.

Image result for captain america civil war the raft

The prison holding the rogue superheroes is drastically different from one another. In Captain America: Civil War Cap's team is held in an underwater detention center called The Raft, a multi-level maximum security prison on an island near New York's Riker's Island. In Civil War the prison is much worse, the heroes are transported through a portal from Riker's to Prison 42, a prison engineered by Tony Stark and Reed Richards, and housed inside The Negative Zone, making it inescapable.

Image result for marvel comics civil war iron man

Both the outcomes from these two properties have been altered but slightly. In Civil War Iron Man's team won and anybody who was against his team or refused to sign the registration are now fugitives or hiding out. In Captain America: Civil War while Iron Man's team still won and Cap's side is fugitives, the only positive note is Steve is still out there fighting a good fight.

Image result for the death of captain america

Another differences is Captain America's fate. In Captain America: Civil War Steve doesn't die he survives the whole experience. In the aftermath of Civil War Steve is shot and killed in Captain America #25 in the storyline The Death of Captain America.

So those were some of the differences between Captain America: Civil War and Civil War. I hoped you enjoyed this. I might do another one of these I just don't know with what movie and story and the month, but when that happens you'll see it in the schedule down below.

Raiders of The Lost Media - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures - The Forever War

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some details. So take this post with a grain of salt.

Image result for teenage mutant ninja turtles adventures the forever war

Welcome back to Raiders of The Lost Media and for the first time ever I tell you about a lost comic book storyline. I tell you about the story behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures' The Forever War.

Part One - Who are The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

For any of you who don't know the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a team of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles named Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. They were trained by their rat sensei named Splinter in the art of Ninjutsu. The Turtles defend their home New York City from petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated creatures, and alien invaders while at the same time remain hidden from society. They were created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and the first issue was released in May of 1984. Surprisingly despite the strange premise it was a huge success. The Ninja Turtles franchise has been almost everything they've had six movies that span from 1990 to 2016, three animated series with a fourth one that's planned to come out in fall of 2018, a live-action show titled Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, food tie-ins, video games, and merchandise lots and lots of merchandise. They even had a concert tour but no Ninja Turtle fan likes to talk about that. And their comic run isn't over either there is to this day comics still being published only this time by IDW Publishing.

Part Two - The Forever War Story

Now that I told you who the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are let me tell you what the story is about. The story was about the "Future Turtles" returning and teaming up with the present day Turtles and they were going to have their final battle with the Shredder. Other characters were set to return as such Golani, Ninjara, Scumbag, Rat King, and Wyrm.

Part Three - Announcement Then Cancellation

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures just completed their latest story arc titled "The Moon Eye Saga" and issue #70 ended with this advertisement.

Image result for teenage mutant ninja turtles adventures the forever war

The Forever War was planned to span from issues #71-75. The comic was known for having a darker story compared to most TMNT media at the time. This would cause conflicts between writer Steve Murphy and editor-in-chief Victor Gorelick and publisher Michael Silberkleit, who thought the adult themes to the storyline were going too far. According to Murphy this was the reason the story was cancelled "Victor and Michael wanted to know where the book was going with issue 71, and when I told them we would be revisiting the future (the Greenhouse Earth future another notion that freaked them out) for a 5-issue story arc featuring the return of the Shredder - a totalitarian Shredder (no the buffoon of the cartoon) - they popped their toupees. And said they wanted me off the book". Another factor that was speculated was for many years Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures were the only Ninja Turtles comics to be printed in color. However Mirage was creating volume two for their Ninja Turtles comic series which would have also been in color, this left Archie Comics feeling threatened. After Murphy left the comic series continued with two more issues and a miniseries titled Year of the Turtle before the series was cancelled.

Part Four - Revival Attempts

The story would later try to get some revivals. In 2005 Murphy said the story arc would be released but nothing happened. When Murphy was asked about the storyline again he changed the date to 2007, well 2007 came and went but their was no Forever War released. Then in 2009 the story was set to be released, then Nickelodeon bought out the TMNT franchise then the story was cancelled just like it was back in 1995.

Part Five - Gallery

The only thing we have left of this story are these pictures. Also this blog gives you more a details of what happened and in my opinion it's a lot better than what I did. Basically they give you the long story while I just give you a short version. So anyhow enjoy looking at these pictures of what could have been. http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2011/08/whatever-happened-to-forever-war.html

So I hoped you enjoyed another Raiders of The Lost Media because you ain't getting another until November. Think of it as me giving the segment a break.

Things to Read/Watch Before Seeing Justice League

Image result for justice league 2017 movie

Hey everybody with Justice League only a few months away I thought it would be a good idea to give you some suggestions on what to read or watch to prepare yourself for the upcoming film. I also wanted to have another go at this because a lot of you did like this when I did it for Logan back in March. Only this time I'll be breaking this down into parts from the comics and what their continuity is from Pre-Crisis to Pre-New 52 to Rebirth, cartoons, and movies. And just like Logan I'll provide you links to the comic books.

Comics

Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths

Image result for the brave and the bold #28

One of the comics you should read is The Brave and The Bold #28. This should be read because it was the Justice League's first appearance. Yes might come off as cheesy or goofy but it was the 60's that was the time to cheesy and goofy.

http://readcomiconline.to/Comic/The-Brave-and-the-Bold-1955/Issue-28?id=31123

Pre-New 52

Image result for jla new world order

Another comic you should read is JLA: New World Order. I recommend this because it's a great read, it was relaunch that helped DC Comics when things weren't going well for them back in the 90's, and it's one of the Justice League's best stories. It's also written by Grant Morrison who is known for being the best writer in the comic book business.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/JLA_1997/JLA_1997_Issue_001
Note: Only read issues #1-4 for the New World Order storyline

Image result for jla rock of ages

Now this story arc is where the Justice League travel to a future where Darkseid has figured out the Anti-Life equation. I say you should read this because once again written by Grant Morrison but also in the upcoming Justice League film it has a connection to Darkseid and feel like if you don't know who Darkseid is this story will help get a good idea of who he is.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/JLA_1997/JLA_1997_Issue_010
Note: Only read issues #10-15 for the Rock of Ages storyline

Image result for jla tower of babel

I'll just leave this plain and simple this comic is a must read. Not only does this make the villains of the story more dangerous than what they all ready were but it also shows just how far Batman is willing to go to stop his fellow Justice League members if they ever go rouge.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/JLA_1997/JLA_1997_Issue_043
Note: Only read issues #43-46 for the Tower of Babel storyline.

Image result for jla earth 2

The final story I recommend you to read in the Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths is JLA: Earth 2. The story about the Alexander Luthor seeking help from the Justice League to fight the Crime Syndicate(evil versions of the Justice League from an alternate Earth). It's great Crime Syndicate vs. Justice League story and an all time classic.

http://readcomiconline.to/Comic/JLA-Earth-2/Full?id=82544&readType=1

The New 52

Image result for the new 52 justice league origin

One of the best storylines to come out of DC's The New 52 (a reboot to their comic book universe almost like Crisis on Infinite Earths) is Justice League Origin. Judging from what I've seen from the Justice League trailers you have got to read this. The film is clearly taking inspiration from this storyline only with a few changes here and there.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/Justice_League_Volume_01_Origin/Justice_League_Volume_01_Origin

Image result for justice league volume 3 throne of atlantis

The next story I feel like you should read is the Throne of Atlantis story arc. While it's more an Aquaman story the Justice League are very much involved in it. And besides Origin it's one of my favorite Justice League stories in The New 52.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/Justice_League_Volume_03_Throne_of_Atlantis_2013/Justice_League_Volume_03_Throne_Of_Atlantis

Image result for justice league the darkseid war cover

My final pick for a Justice League story in The New 52 era is The Darkseid War. It's a very interesting story about The Anti-Monitor going to war with Darkseid. Once again like Rock of Ages maybe this will give you an idea of who Darkseid is if your not familiar with him.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/Justice_League/Justice_League_040
Note: Only read issues #40-50 for The Darkseid War storyline

Rebirth

Image result for justice league rebirth

When The New 52 ended DC rebranded not rebooted with their new brand Rebirth. Now there are no stories I feel like you should specifically read I suggest you read every single issues of this Justice League series. Also quick side note The New 52 Superman died and the Pre-New 52 Superman replaced him. Now if that sounded odd just read Convergence: Superman, Superman: Lois and Clark, and The Final Days of Superman in that order and hopefully that will give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/Justice_League_2016/Justice_League_2016_Issue_01

Image result for justice league vs suicide squad

I also think you guys should read Justice League vs. Suicide Squad. I think you should read this not because the comic contains similarities with the upcoming movie I just think you should read because it's a fun story.

http://readcomicbooksonline.net/reader/Justice_League_Vs_Suicide_Squad_2017/Justice_League_Vs_Suicide_Squad_(2017)_1

Cartoons

Image result for justice league 2001 cartoon

The only cartoons I think you should watch are Justice League the 2001 series and it's successor Justice League: Unlimited. I won't give any links because I only do that for comic books but you'll most likely find those cartoons fairly easily online.

Movies

Image result for justice league the new frontier poster

One film I think you should watch is Justice League: The New Frontier. I would have also recommended the comic book but this movie is pretty much the comic with only a few changes. I think you should watch this film because it has a great story, fantastic animation, and great voice performances.

Image result for justice league crisis on two earths poster

Now if none of you want to read JLA: Earth 2 then watch the movie Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. It's that storyline but much like The New Frontier has a few changes.

Image result for justice league doom movie poster

Another movie I think you should check out is Justice League: Doom. Now this movie is loose adaption of the Tower of Babel storyline. There are many changes like the members in the Justice League. But it's still a very decent movie that will keep you entertained.

Image result for justice league the flashpoint paradox poster

If any of you are fans of dark and gritty superhero films well here you go. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is an adaption of the DC event story Flashpoint and despite some changes here and there and some character designs that are a little weird this is still an enjoyable movie. Also this film is very violent you've been warned.

Image result for justice league war

Now if you don't want to read Justice League Origin then just watch Justice League War. There are a lot of changes done but some of them are minor so if anything you are still watching the Origin storyline. Also yet again the live-action Justice League does seem to be taking inspiration from this so you should watch this movie or read the story.

Image result for justice league throne of atlantis movie poster

This is another storyline that was changed a lot. Throne of Atlantis the animated movie is both the Throne of Atlantis storyline and an Aquaman origin story but that doesn't mean the movie is bad. You'll have a lot of fun watching this movie and I think you should give it a look.

Image result for man of steel poster

Regardless and how you feel about Man of Steel you should still watch it. It started the DC Extended Universe thus it's a good first step to prep yourself for the upcoming Justice League film.

Image result for batman v superman poster

Now this movie I strongly feel you need to watch. Mainly because Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a prequel to Justice League. Which means a large majority of things that happened in this movie will be brought up in Justice League. So you definitely need to watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice whether you think it's good or bad.

Image result for Suicide Squad Poster

Now you can probably skip Suicide Squad because really only the first act touches upon the aftermath of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there's also a cameo from another superhero that isn't just Batman, and the mid-credit scene touches upon the Justice League. But if you want to watch what's unfolding throughout the DC Extended Universe than watch this.

Image result for wonder woman poster 2017

Wonder Woman is a standalone movie so that means it's not going to give you any hints or winks to Justice League. But if you want to get to know her character than watch this movie and yet again if you want to know the world that the DC Extended Universe is building than watch it.

So I hoped this was somewhat helpful and I hope you enjoy reading or watching anything Justice League related. And I know I posted this a lot earlier than I did with Logan but that's because I recommended a lot more than what I did with Logan.

Cinematic Disasters - Captain America (1990)

Captain America is a 1990 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics' character Captain America. It's produced by Marvel Group Entertainment and Jadran Film and distributed by 21st Century Film Corporation. The movie was written by Stephen Tolkin and directed by Albert Pyun.

The story is Steve Rogers has been chosen to become the super solider known as Captain America. After his fight with Red Skull he is frozen for many years. Then in 1993 Red Skull plans to kidnap the President of the United States Tom Kimball and brainwash him and only Captain America can stop the Red Skull's plan and save the President.

Before I get into the review let me tell you about the film's release. The movie was intended to be released in the summer of 1990 which would of put around the same time Captain America was having his fiftieth anniversary but that never happened then several release dates said it would go into theaters between fall of 1990 and winter of 1991 but again never happened. The movie would go unreleased for a total of two years before debuting direct-to-video and on cable in the United States in the summer of 1992. Then it was given a limited theatrical release internationally. And after seeing the movie I can see why it took so long for it to be released because wow is this one bad.

My Thoughts

One thing that amazes me is that the costume designers put rubber ears on the suit. I'm not kidding look at this photo.

You can tell those aren't the actors real ears because the ears are molded onto the costume and they look fake. Why did they do this when it would have been much easier to cut two ear holes for Matt Salinger.

Speaking of questionable design choices. Get a load of the Red Skull.

That's not a skull that's a tomato that was left out in the sun for too long. Also for whatever reason the writers changed him from German to Italian. I know sometimes filmmakers take some liberties when making superhero movies but somethings should stay the way they are. Such as Red Skull being German.

The quality to this film looks awful. How bad does it look? Here's a picture

Yeah this is just terrible. This movie came out in the 90's but the quality looks like an old 70's film for VHS. The movie was later released on Blu-Ray in 2013 and looking at it now it's a huge improvement. Here's an example

There's one scene from the movie that confuses me. When Captain America is strapped to a missile by the Red Skull he fires it to the White House. Captain America's brilliant idea is kick the missile's bottom half and that somehow works then the missile is redirected and both the missile and Cap land in Alaska. I know sometimes superhero films like to disobey the laws of physics but how does kicking the bottom half of a missile redirect it? Captain America is strong but he ain't that strong.

Now let's talk about Matt Salinger as Steve Rogers/Captain America. My god is  he bad. He doesn't give Captain America any charisma or energy. In matter of fact he's pretty boring to watch. Yeah the title character is the most bland part of the entire movie. Our hero is one of the many worst things about this movie.

When Captain America is finally in our time or should I say 1993 we get a cheesy montage set to the most cheesiest song that I think were more for the 80's than they were the 90's. It's almost like a parody someone on YouTube would do not actual filmmakers.

Now when Steve Rogers gets turned into a super soldier there's a hilarious scene were a German spy goes to shake Dr. Vaselli's hand. He's all calm and says Remarkable work Dr. Vaselli congratulations Heil Hitler! It was the most over the top way to kill someone. Here's the clip from that scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93k6Ik7K4nM

There is barely any action scenes here. A large majority of the movie is just soap opera like romance plots. Because that's what people wanted in a Captain America movie romance subplots that take up a majority of the running time. Then when we do get an action scene is awful. The best way to describe them is if you were to take a shot every time there's a jump cut you be hammered by the end of the scene. Here's the final action scene from the movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2TrASSbKIw. Again so many jump cuts.

We get no build up to when Steve Rogers gets his Captain America costume. It's after the German spy shot and killed Dr. Vaselli we cut to Steve in the hospital then the next scene he's in a plane ready to go on his first mission. And they give the weakest explanation to why he's costume is the way it is. He's costume is like that because Dr. Vaselli sure did like the red, white, and blue. I'm not making that up that is why Cap's costume is like that.

Captain America (1990) is just awful. The fake ears on the costume are stupid, the explanation to the costume itself was weak, the action scenes is just jump cut central, your not going to care for the romantic subplots, the montages are cheesy, Red Skull looks horrible, and if you don't own the movie on Blu-Ray enjoy the lackluster quality.

My final rating is Awful

So if any of you want to watch a good Captain America movie just stick with Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, Civil War, and the Avengers movies. Speaking on Civil War if any of you have been looking at the schedule down belong come back for my Differences Between Captain America: Civil War and Marvel Comics' Civil War. I'm doing that because I wanted to do it for fun and do something else related to Captain America.
