The Rip Review

So there's a new Joe Carnahan film out. Let's hope it's as awesome.

The Rip is an action thriller that's produced by Artists Equity and distributed by Netflix. With Joe Carnahan both writing and directing.

The story is, a group of Miami cops go into a house and as they search the attic they discover $20 million in drug cartel cash. After this discovery everything spirals into a series of events where everybody is questioning who they can trust?

Initial Reaction

The reason why I was excited to see this was because of Joe Carnahan. After watching Copshop and loving it, I wanted to see what else Carnahan was gonna do next. So when I found out this was gonna be directed by him I just had to see it.

Cons

I've got nothing. So move on to the next part.

Middle Ground

First let's bring up some positives. The story does a quite a lot of good twist and turns going. Because of this masterfully done aspect, you provided with a very engaging story. However, this movie isn't gonna reinvent the wheel. Sometimes the story can also hit some very expected beats. So while there's an entertainment factor there will be familiar stuff especially if seen other crime thrillers with the plot of "cops find something dirty and trust erodes".

Pros

Let's start off with the pacing. While some areas were slow, a majority of the time the pacing was really good. There were more moments that went by nicely then moments where I could almost feeling the runtime. Then there's the action. Where most action movies are trying to capture that John Wick feel, this movie wasn't trying to do that. The action in The Rip is more about gunfights. The shootouts feel messy and realistic. The action isn't about who can deliver the best punch, but more of which hero or villain can shoot while remaining calm in very tight closed-quarters. The last thing I'll praise is Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's chemistry. We've seen these two share the screen plenty of times. The most famous of which being Good Will Hunting. Both whether it's that movie, Dogma, or Air, these two have great chemistry and The Rip is no different. Because of their long real-life friendship these brought a genuine friendship feel to their characters Dane Dumars and JD Byrne. So whenever those two characters are busting each other's chops or get into a fight, Affleck and Damon make it feel real.

While I don't believe The Rip is gonna make any top best crime thrillers in the near future, I still found the movie to be very enjoyable and I think you guys should give it look. Just not right away.

My final rating is, Good.

First Primate, then 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and now this. So far things are starting off well for the 2026 film year. Hopefully it stays that way. That's going to do it for me. Come back on Jan 22nd, where I'll begin the Road to Avengers: Doomsday. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Review

Alright the sequel is finally here. Let's hope it's just as good as the first.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is post-apocalyptic horror movie, and acts as both the sequel to 28 Years Later and the fourth installment in the 28 Days Later film series. Production was handled by Columbia Pictures, Decibel Films, and DNA Films with Sony Pictures Releasing handling distribution. While Alex Garland once again returns to write, the director this time around is Nia DaCosta.

The story is, after being rescued Spike has joined Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal and his gang. But the more he spends time with them, the more Spike soon realizes he needs to get away from these people. Meanwhile, at the Bone Temple Dr. Kelson is experimenting on one of the infected and could possibly be on the verge of a shocking revelation.

Initial Reaction

After seeing 28 Years Later I was naturally curious of where the story is gonna go from here. Although I did become more skeptical when I learned that Nia DaCosta was gonna be directing. The reason why that news didn't excite me is because she is 0-2 with me when it comes to movies. First there was that awful Candyman movie back in 2021. Then she went on to direct The Marvels were the less said about that train wreck the better. But I quickly changed my mind cause hey, at least this time around she'll have a good writer to work of with Alex Garland.

Cons

I've got nothing.

Middle Ground

The biggest mix is the story. Now there's a lot more good then the slightly uneven stuff so let's start off with that first. First I actually really dug Spike's story with Lord Jimmy. You're really rooting for the kid to find any way to escape from him, but at the same time the movie leaves you guessing if there's a possibly that Spike might become corrupted by him. Then we also have Dr. Kelson's story. Basically he sees one the infected Alphas (named Samson in this movie) and begins to see signs that maybe there's still a chance there's humanity behind what many believe are lost and savage souls. Sure that's happened with other zombie flicks, but I never considered the 28 movies to be zombie movies despite some similarities. These are people infected by a rage virus so Kelson's story of finding humanity behind the monsters work much better because the infected aren't the walking dead. Now with all of the good out of the way there were two slight issues. One is I wished Spike's story with this dad was touched upon here but it isn't. Hell I don't even think Spike's dad was even mentioned in a single sentence. And much like the previous movie we get some instances where things are setting us up for the third movie. Especially during that ending where a character from the previous movies makes their return.

Pros

Let me start off by praising Nia DaCosta since I've been giving her a grief since I started writing this review. She did a fantastic job with this movie's look. She managed to bring dark yet spectacular visuals this movie. Which I imagine wasn't an easy job to do when you had to go up against the previous director [Danny Boyle]. Now to get into the villain of the movie, Sir Lord Jimmy. This was a fantastic villain. Mainly because you're never gonna know what he's gonna do next. Maybe he'll be funny, maybe he'll be disturbingly violent, maybe a mixture of both. Sir Lord Jimmy always keeps you guessing and I loved every minute of that. Then there's the violence. Now I read and heard some cheeky comments and eye rolling complaints about this being torture porn similar to the likes of movies like Saw and Hostel. Yes the violence is very...strong to say the least. But I don't think people should be complaining about it. The main reason is because this is Sir Lord Jimmy. The guy loves over the top violence so wouldn't it make sense he would want his followers to be over the top violent? Also how much you wanna bet some of these people complained about the violence in this movie but we're perfectly fine with the Terrifier flicks? But I want to give my biggest praise to Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell's performances. Fiennes gives a phenomenal performance as Dr. Kelson. He blended profound grief, quiet empathy, and wry humor perfectly. And he was the anchor the film's themes of humanity and hope. He also had an incredible moment during a headbanging ritual sequence. I'd love to go into more details than that, but I already felt like I said too much. Then there's Jack O'Connell and his role of Sir Lord Jimmy. O'Connell was a pure scene stealer. He perfectly brings out Jimmy's terrifying yet darkly funny personality. Not too mention but it seems like O'Connell was having a fun time playing this character. Overall these two fuel the film's other themes of good vs. evil and what survives in the ruins of humanity.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple may have some issues, but I still say you should give it a watch whether you're a fan of the franchise or not.

My final rating is, Good.

That's all for now. Due come back on Monday, Jan 19th, for my review of the newest Ben Affleck & Matt Damon film, The Rip. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) vs. Assault on Precinct 13 (2005)

Alright another edition of VS. Let's not waste to with an intro and get to it.

Contender #1 - Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

Director - John Carpenter

Writer(s) - John Carpenter

Release Date - November 3rd, 1976

Production - The CKK Corporation

Distribution - Turtle Releasing Organization

Budget - $100,000

Gross - $21,400,000 (Estimated)

Contender #2 - Assault on Precinct 13 (2005)

Director - Jean-François Richet

Writer - James DeMonaco

Release Date - January 19th, 2005

Production - Why Not Productions & Liaison Films

Distribution - Rogue Pictures

Budget - $25-30,000,000

Gross - $35,300,000

Story

Now both have slightly different stories. In the original '76 movie the story is a ruthless gang called the Street Thunder have sworn to cause chaos by killing police and innocent people after members of their gang were killed. During one of their rampages they kill a little girl and her father Lawson swears vengeance and kills one of the criminals. The Street Thunder gang soon chase after Lawson and during the chase he winds up in an old precinct scheduled to be shut down. Soon criminals that were being transported but had to make a stop because one of the inmates were sick and the skeleton staff that were working in the old precinct band together to protect Lawson and hold out long enough for back up to arrive.

The story for the 2005 remake the story is prisoners are being transported but a snowstorm forces the transportation to be put on hold and they have to wait out the storm at Precinct 13 where there's only a skeleton staff working there. What was suppose to be an uneventful night is soon turned to chaos when masked gunman soon start attacking the precinct. During the course of this night of survival we slowly there's a great deal of corruption going on.

Round #1 - Visuals

Now this is actually tricky not because of the budget but because how both directors used their cinematography. In Carpenter's case while it's clear he was working with more a budget he was able to use to his advantage by making the movie feel raw, gritty, and have even more an urban feel to the movie. But with the 2005 remake it's slicker and I actually really dug the more blizzard/snow setting. It helped gave the remake a different look when compared to it's predecessor.

So which is the winner when both have such good looks to them for different reasons? Well it probably comes down to taste for some. If you like a more raw look then the original movie, if you prefer something more sleeker then the remake. For me and this might disappoint you but I'm calling it a tie.

Round # 2 - Characters

This was almost gonna be another tie until I took a step back and truly thought about how both films handled their characters. Now in the 1976 film characters are standard yet feel very human. Lt. Bishop is very steady, Wilson is pretty cynical yet cool, and Leigh is one tough secretary. The remake really only has two memorable characters those being Jake Roenick and Marion Bishop. Roenick is good cop who's haunted by a sting operation gone wrong and wants to make up for his mistake. And Bishop despite not getting much of a backstory does have a really good silent menace to him. But the rest of the cast is very generic. You got the junkie, you got the old veteran cop, and the sexy secretary. I mean sure I still remember who they are I just don't remember their names unlike the original's cast of characters.

So even though it was only one character more compared the remake's two, I gotta give the win to the '76 movie.

Round #3 - Action

Okay this was a much more easier choice to make. I'm giving the win to John Carpenter's movie. Why? Well with Carpenter was consist throughout the whole movie. Unlike the remake where the action starts off frenetic with shaky cam and sometimes the camera being too close to fights, then later when the gunfights start ramping up the action becomes much more clearer to watch thus much more fun and exciting.

The winner in this round is easily the original.

Round #4 - Story

Again I found this one to be very difficult to decide. Guess I actually liked the stories to both movies. In the 1976 film is very straightforward and The Street Thunder gang has a very simple mission that being at first mindless chaos then wanting revenge for the actions of one man. With the remake there's pretty good corruption conspiracy and ramps up the moral ambiguity. So both stories both have something going for them but for different reasons.

Now you'll probably be disappointed again because I'm calling this tie but, only one movie came out with two clear wins.

Winner - Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

So I hope you enjoyed another edition of VS. Come back on Saturday, Jan 17th, for my review of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.

Is It True? - Stranger Things: The Conformity Gate Theory

NOTE!: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5 AKA THE FINAL SEASON OF STRANGER THINGS! IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THAT SEASON YET, LEAVE NOW!

I didn't make this awesome pic. I don't know who made this but whoever the artist is go support him or her.

So it's been awhile since I've done one of these fan theory post. So what better way to welcome this segment back then to tackle a more recent fan theory.

What is Stranger Things?

Stranger Things is a TV series created by the Duffer Brothers for the streaming service Netflix. The series debuted on July 15th, 2016 and was a huge hit for Netflix. It would not only go on to have five seasons, but also spawn huge amounts of merchandise and an even bigger fan base. The show only recently ended on Dec 31st, 2025 with an episode total of forty-two.

The story for the series is on November 6th, 1983, a boy named Will Byers went missing after hanging out with his friends Mike, Dustin, and Lucas. His friends soon realize Will's disappearance wasn't ordinary and was linked to another world called the Upside Down which in inhabited by creatures they named the Demogorgons. Along the way the boys meet a girl with telekinetic powers who they named Eleven or El for short.

As the story went our characters grew and Team Hawkins not only consisted of Mike, Will, Lucas, and Dustin. But would also include Will's brother Jonathan, his mother Joyce, Chief Jim Hopper, Mike's sister Nancy, and former bully turned ally Steve, along with other characters such as Max & Robin. We would also learn more about the Upside Down with the biggest reveal being a villain who lives in there named Henry Creel or as he's also known as, Vecna. Who's big plan is to merge our world with the Upside Down. Thankfully our heroes were able to stop, but sadly it came at Eleven's life.

The Theory

So what is the Conformity Gate theory?

It goes like this. Our heroes successfully stopped Vecna and his plans to merge the worlds together. But before our heroes can celebrate they were captured by a military group lead by Dr. Kay who plans to take Eleven's blood and make more children like her. But Eleven puts a stop to her plan by sacrificing herself by dying and closing the Upside Down in the process. The day is won but sadly Team Hawkins lost no only team member, but a friend, girlfriend, and daughter.

Eighteen months go by and Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max graduate high school and have one last Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, and Robin get jobs they love and agree to stay in touch. And finally Joyce and Jim Hopper get engaged and plan to Montauk, New York since Jim got an offer for a high paying job as chief of police.

So what's the theory? Well the theory is the ending we saw in the fifth season's final episode/series finale was a lie. In actuality this is Vecna's doing. Sometime during the final battle he trapped our heroes in this false illusion in where they won and got to live peaceful lives.

And the "conformity" in Conformity Gate stems from the fact that fans believe the characters are forced into normal lives what with the whole thing about graduating, relationships, etc.

Is The Theory Believable?

Now for any of you that continued to follow Stranger Things after the series finale then you already know the answer. But for any of that haven't I'm here to say NO. The theory doesn't hold up. Mainly because I've got three things that go against it.

1) When Did Vecna Find the Time?

Throughout this season Vecna was focusing on kidnapping kids, convincing said kids he was gonna help him save the world even though he's lying, fitting with Team Hawkins and finding ways to get the team off his back. So with all of this going on, where would Vecna/Henry have found the opportunity to make this false reality? It definitely wasn't during the final battle because then he's gotta focus on fighting Eleven in their big telekinetic battle.

2) Will's Hive-Mind Connection.

Basically Will has mental link to Vecna and can see what he's planning. This has been a consistent story aspect since season two. Whenever there's something that's going to put Hawkins in jeopardy Will gets a neck tingle. And in the final season not only was he able to follow what Vecna was up to, but also caused physical pain to him.

If Vecna had any backup plan, in this case a false happy ending, then Will would've been the first to pick up on it. Sure some say Will got cut-off or overridden but that's a stretch.

I know people are giving the Duffer Bros. crap for their writing when it comes to this season, but I'm pretty sure even they would've written one last neck tingle for Will.

3) Eleven's Fate.

I know throughout this post I was writing like Eleven is dead dead, but her fate is much more ambiguous. In the final standoff with Dr. Kay and the eighteen months epilogue it's left for debate if she died or faked her death.

So with that info I feel like this is another thing that goes against the theory. Because in my mind, if I'm a villain especially one with Vecna's abilities, why would I put such a bittersweet moment when I want my enemies to believe they've won? I think giving this massive emotional wound you do more harm to Vecna then good.

I have seen defenders say something of the lines of "This is Vecna's cruelty. He's making them accept a bittersweet win to break them". But that goes against the whole theory. Vecna wants them to believe they won so they'll be off his back. So if he causes them more pain then next thing he knows he's got to fight these guys all over again.

So yeah, this theory doesn't hold up. Fans were expecting something to happen like a secret ninth episode on January 7th, because of Orthodox Christmas tying to holiday release patterns but nothing happened. They only thing left is the season 5 documentary titled One Last Adventure, the animated spin-off Stranger Things: Tales from '85, and another live-action spin-off with a whole new set of characters and stories.

So that's gonna do it for now. Due come back on Thursday, Jan 15th, for a brand new VS. For that one it's all about which version of Assault on Precinct 13 is the best. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.

Primate Review

Alright first movie review of 2026. So cross your fingers and hope I got a lot of positive things to say.

Primate is a natural horror movie that's produced by 18hz Productions with Paramount Pictures being the distributor. Johnanes Roberts directed and wrote the screenplay with Ernest Riera.

The story is, a group of friends are on vacation and having some tropical fun along the way. During this vacation the friends are introduced to the family pet, a chimp named Ben. What should've been fun under the sun turned deadly when Ben is bitten by a rabid animal and because increasingly violent. Now this is no longer a vacation, but a fight for survival.

Initial Reaction

Now I by no means had any plans to see this movie at first. Not because I thought it was gonna be bad, but because I didn't know it existed. But thankfully with the power of YouTube, I saw an ad for this movie and thought "Hey that could be a fun movie". I also thought "Hey an ad break that didn't piss me off". So I decided to see this and hope it would deliver.

Cons

I got nothing.

Middle Ground

Now let me state first by saying yes, this is a fun movie. It provides you exactly what you'd expect from a movie about a killer chimp infected with rabies. Crazy murderous chimp ✔, brutal kills ✔, doesn't over stay it's welcome ✔✔. However even with that there really isn't anything that's truly gonna blow you away. You can where a lot of the story will go. So if here people say this is Cujo but with a monkey, they're not wrong. But like I said previously there's a lot of fun to be had here. Cause as I've stated before and I'll continue to stay many times afterwards, even if your story as some predictable beats just make sure you never bore the audience. And Primate didn't bore me.

Pros

Let's praise the biggest star of this movie and that's the practical effects. Now yes some CGI was used but this movie is mainly practical effects. You get kills with get gory effects like faces being ripped off, jaws being pulled apart, and really savage mauling. But what I loved most of all were the effects on Ben. They didn't use a real ape, Ben is just one big special effect. The filmmakers did an amazing job blending puppetry and incredible suit work from Miguel Torres Umba. Seriously give big props to Miguel, he was amazing. Cause I could've sworn the parts where the ape is moving I think it was a real one but no, that was Umba. So if you're a fan of practical effects this is a movie for you, provided you're also a fan of horror movies. Now remember how I said this movie doesn't overstay it's welcome? Well that was true. The movie clocks in at one hour and twenty-nine minutes but it didn't felt like I was sitting in my seat for an hour. This movie has greatly tight pacing. It's a swift movie to get through. The last thing I'll praise is this was giving me a serious B-movie vibe. This movie clearly embraces a premise that a lot people will find silly (despite the fact there's plenty of stories of chimps actually ripping people apart). But when I was watching this I just couldn't help but be reminder of those made-for-television animal attack films that I'd watch on SyFy when I was a kid. Like Copperhead, Locusts: The 8th Plague, and Blood Monkey. Only this movie isn't as gimmicky and had a budget unlike those movies. But the point I'm trying to get at is, this is just movie feels like a B-movie but in the best possible way and when it's release to DVD, Blu-Ray, and streaming you can gather your friends and have a fun group watch party.

While Primate isn't the most original movie, it still provides lots of entertainment especially when it feels like an old school creature feature.

My final rating is, Good.

Alright movie reviewing wise, great way to start of 2026. Come back on Monday, Jan 12th, for a brand new Is It True? For that one I'll be tackling a very popular Stranger Things fan theory. Pretty sure you all know what it is. But until then, enjoy the rest of your day.

My Most Anticipated Movies of 2026

ALRIGHT! It's a new year, thus we've got some new movies coming out. Let's cut through the bullshit and get right into my list.

First up is 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. To everybody's relief 28 Years Later was awesome despite some pretty obvious sequel baiting. But none the less the movie was great and I'm expecting a lot things from this one. Even if it's directed by the chick who brought us that terrible Candyman movie and the even more terrible The Marvels. But thankfully she's not writing so there's still hope.

That's right I'm looking forward to a Netflix movie yet again. But why The Rip? Well every since I watched Copshop a couple years back, I've grown to like a lot of Joe Carnahan's work. When looking more of Carnahan's films he's done a lot of good stuff. Smokin' Aces is fun as hell and The Grey is a very underrated survival flick. So I hope Carnahan brings up us another fun movie to enjoy.

Next up is Send Help, why? Because it's Sam Raimi back to directing horror! That's really the prime reason why I'm excited for this one. Because Sam Raimi hasn't directed a horror movie since Drag Me to Hell and that was back in 2009. So that's my reason and I expect a lot of greatness from Raimi that doesn't come from a comic book movie.

Our next movie is Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. The reason why I'm excited for this is because Gore Verbinski made my childhood awesome with the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I find his animated movie Rango doesn't get enough credit. So from a nostalgic standpoint I'm really excited to see what Verbinski has for us this time.

It's been awhile since we got a Scream movie and thankfully 2026 will bring us a new one with Scream 7. Now I'm fully aware the newer Scream films aren't flawless masterpieces but they have been a lot of fun. And after watching the trailer from two months ago, I'm very curious about this one because not only is Sidney returning but we're also gonna get a little family dynamic with her and her daughter. Isn't that nice of Ghostface? He's not playing favorites he's going after the whole family. 😆

The next one in my little list is Project Hail Mary. I'm looking forward to seeing this because Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be directing. Which is something the duo hasn't done since 22 Jump Street, and that was all the way back in 2014. So hopefully these guys bring magic from being directors much like how they've brought magic to their movies when their writing or producing.

We can also look forward to Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. The first movie was a really fun horror-comedy and I'm hoping the sequel will be the same. But I am worried that like most sequels with elements of comedy or are just comedy movies they might reuse some jokes, but from what I've seen so far that doesn't seem to be the case.

Next is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Back in 2023 The Super Mario Bros. Movie surprised us with how good it was. So I think (or hope) the filmmakers will yet again surprise with another good movie. Although I am in a slight agreement with people when they say they should've done other movies based on previous Mario games before just jumping straight to Galaxy. I guess maybe the filmmakers thought let's based stories on Mario games today's kids have more knowledge of?

Then later on during this year we're gonna get Mortal Kombat II, a movie we were suppose to get last year in October before it was decided to push it to May. While the first isn't a masterpiece I still had a lot of fun with it, especially since this time around the movie's are allowed to go rated R with the violence. Despite that I'm still a skeptical because the trailer just didn't do it for me, but hopefully that's just a case of marketing not being the best.

Next up is one I'm really excited for and that's Scary Movie 6. I was there for the very first movie Scary Movie all the way back in 2000. As a kid I didn't get all the jokes but as I grew older and watched the movies that were being spoofed I love it. And better yet the Wayans Brothers are writing it and Marlon Wayans has said it will offend people. So hopefully that's him and his brothers being honest and not being snake oiled salesmen.

I'm also looking forward to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. A movie that's a offending what I guess are a bunch of Greek mythology fanboys that rival those of DC, Marvel, and Star Wars fanboys 🤷‍♂️? But in all seriousness, I'm looking forward to this one because Christopher Nolan has yet to let me down. Now I do agree the casting isn't people I would've picked but hopefully we can all over look that.

The next on the list is Evil Dead Burn! I gotta say back in 2013 I was originally hesitant to give that movie a chance because there wasn't gonna be anymore Bruce Campbell's Ash, but after watching that movie and years afterwards seeing Evil Dead Rise, I've been liking the newer films. There just as fun as Sam Raimi's original movies. So fingers cross this newer movie continues the winning streak.

2026 is also gonna grace us with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. I know shocking right? We have a new Tom Holland Spider-Man film and it DOESN'T have the word "home" in it. Now I'm curious to this not only as a Spider-Man fan but for the story. Cause after Spider-Man: No Way Home I've been wondering where this verison of Spidey's gonna go from there.

Next is Flowervale Street. I don't know anything about the plot, although going by that picture I guess dinosaurs are gonna be involved? But I digress, the reason I'm hoping to see this is because of the director, David Robert Michell. His film It Follows was great so I'm looking forward to what he's cooking up this time around.

Then after or hopefully after seeing Flowervale Street I can see and review Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars. Why? Because even though I'm fully aware Ridley Scott hasn't reached that high point of great films like Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, or Black Hawk Down, I still enjoy seeing Ridley work his directing magic. But who knows, maybe this'll be the film that reaches that high of those other movies I mentioned.

Next is a movie I saw people on X fight to get release into theaters, so they better show up and watch it so they better show up and watch it unlike what they did for The Day The Earth Blew Up. I am of course talking about Coyote vs. Acme. Like I said I read the hashtags and saw people fight to get this released so hopefully it was all worth it.

Then there's How to Rob a Bank which will be directed by one of my newer favorites David Leitch. Which is why I want to see this one because of David Leitch. I think that's been doing a phenomenal job as an action direct with the likes of Bullet Train & The Fall Guy, so action wise I'm expecting big things from him.

To kick off the fall season we'll be getting a sequel to the 2010 smash hit The Social Network titled The Social Reckoning. Only this time around Aaron Sorkin will be taking on both writing and directing and I'm very interested to see what he'll bring to the table.

Then later during that same fall season we'll be getting M. Night Shyamalan's newest film, Remain. While M. Night Shyamalan still hasn't reached that huge mainstream success like he did with The Sixth Sense and the highly underrated Unbreakable, I still maintain the opinion he's doing far better filmmaking wise from The Visit to now then what he was doing with films like The Happening and that disasterous Last Airbender movie. So hopefully he gives us another good movie.

My next anticipated movie is The Cat in the Hat. One reason being is as a kid that was my all-time favorite Dr. Seuss and I feel like Seuss' work is much more suited for animation then live-action, although that Jim Carrey Grinch film is pretty awesome. So I'm hoping this movie will capture that wonderful feeling I had reading the book. Besides it can't be any worse then the live-action even though I view that as a so bad it's good flick.

This is another one I'm really excited to see and that's Violent Night 2. I loved the first movie, it kicked a lot of ass and I'm hoping the sequel will be just as fun. Sorry if the reasoning wasn't much longer, but what else can I say. It's a simple movie and I'm a simple man.

Yeah I bet none of you are surprised by this one but yes, Avengers: Doomsday is my next one. Not only do I like that the Russo Brothers are back in the directing chair, but I've also liked what I've seen from (and as of writing this) the two teaser trailers. My boy Steve Rogers aka Captain America seems to be living a peaceful and better yet Thor is gonna be treated like a serious character and not whoever that guy was from Thor: Love and Thunder. Yeah I know Thor 4 is gonna be four years old before we know it, but that was just inexcusable. But what I want you take away from this is I'm excited to see Avengers: Doomsday.

Next up is Dune: Part Three, simply because Denis Villeneuve has been killing it with this film series. Part one was great and I go invested into the world from beginning to end and Part two had a fantastic ending. So I'm looking forward to what happens next in this big cinematic saga.

The last film is Werwulf. The reason being is Robert Eggers hasn't missed. All of his films have been amazing. The Witch is great, The Lighthouse is great, I loved The Northman, and his remake Nosferatu was awesome. So I gotta feeling that Eggers is gonna deliver yet another fantastic movie.

So that's all for now. Come back on Saturday, Jan 10th, my review of the newest horror Primate. And if for some reason I can't give you a review of that, probably because my theater won't have showing, then come back on Monday, Jan 12th, for a brand edition of It is True? Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.
